  • This was about a 3 hour hunt with the Manticore. I managed 6 silver including a barber quarter and dime (not on video)

    Enjoyed the video, I preordered my Manticore back in December, still waiting to receive it. The probing statement reminded me of watching my uncle detect back in the 80's. All he carried to retrieve his finds was a long flat head screw driver

      I started in 1983 and we used a screwdriver for most targets since the detectors couldn’t go that deep 4-5” max. No pinpointers either back then

    Thanks for a fun hunt. I really miss hunting parks. Its horrible trying to find a spot here in South Carolina. Thanks again I appreciate getting to see it.

    New sub here! Really good hunt with a lot of great information. I wish there were some way to determine if its a nail or not.

    it was nice to hear my old friends out having fun together, next time i will crash the party lol.looks like you are getting more comfortable with the beast.still want to get your thoughts on it compared to your old 800[ which i still think was on steroids]you are still the master silver finder out there in my humble opinion.

    I hope you do more videos. If you do can you explain more in detail how you have your machine set up

      I will definitely be doing more videos. Every site is different but in this park I run all terrain high conductors, 20 sensitivity, all metal, recovery speed 5.

    Double beep surface low conductor at 2:48. Could have been the gold cross.

    Which sound profile were you using? Do you look at the 2D graph when you are over a target? It seems like you know your target IDs pretty well for having a new machine. Great hunt!

      @jimzilladetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you…I use the simple audio profile. I’ve been using minelab for 20 years and all of their machines so I’m pretty used to the audio. I rarely look at the 2D screen. I have found so many coins where the 2D screen showed a “flatter” target not a circle. The 2D screen is only good for shallow targets. I would only rely on sound the the TID number.

    Is The Depth Gage Fairly Accurate on The Manticore……..Thanks for sharing

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For coin sized objects it’s very accurate. With larger items like large cents and larger pieces of metal, the depth gauge will show the targets as shallower than they really are. The opposite is true for smaller targets.

    Why isn't there a way to tell if it's a nail? Seems like all machines get fooled..even the 2000 dollar ones..

    Strange that a Merc was an 83

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Silver dimes come in between 80-85. Barber read a little lower than mercs. I’ve found seated at 76-77. It really depends on the soil in which you are hunting in.

    I know this might sound sycastic but why would you buy a 2000 dollar detector to detect a park, surely a nox 600 would do the same job!.

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d buy a $5000 detector to detect a park and the Manticore is better than the Nox.

      @@jimzilladetecting your only detecting a park bud, your nuts lol!

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pistolpete938 parks are just one of the things I do and the parks that I hunt date to the mid 1800s and I found everything from revolutionary war artifacts all the way up to modern trash. I also detect about 75 to 100 homes every single year.
