Episode 4: Manticore Comes Through Again
มุมมอง 559ปีที่แล้ว
Back to my favorite park which dates back to the 1860s. It was a decent hunt with 3 mercs, a half reale, 9 indians, a shield nickel and a gold plated pin.
Episode 3: Back to another Park with the Manticore

Its been about 10 years since I've been back to this park. My finds from this hunt include 2 Mercs and a 1910 Barber. Also found a Rev War button from the British Navy

    Hello Jim! I am an equinox 800 super fan and I have many hours on that machine and I feel like I have been close to mastering it. I am thinking about moving up to the Manticore. After seeing all the amazing finds that you have been coming up with I was curious if you could tell me what your thoughts are about me moving from the 800 to the Manticore. Also, would you be able to make a video showing me how you set your detector up? I really like to find coins is my favorite thing.

    I wish I could see what your 2d screen shows. I’ve had manticore for couple weeks now. I just haven’t figured it out yet. I dig a lot of square nails that show on the line on 2d screen. Some targets come in clean even with nails in the hole. Do you only dig if it’s repeatable? I’ve found dimes, largie, Indian and 2cent piece. But every coin I knew it was a coin by 2d and sound. Just trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks for your help

    Thanks for describing the Target Trace before digging. I'm paying more attention to peoples judgment of the 2D trace before they dig. Copper nail, are you by an old shipping port? My other thought was it was used for the construction of a lightening rod that they placed on top of barns. GLHH

    Why is the Manticore priced at $1599 ??? it is a good detector but why is it priced so high ??? What does this detector do that other detectors can not do ???? This detector is priced $600 to a $900 more than it's competitors !!!

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting ปีที่แล้ว

    Its obvious the manticore is a great, fast, deep machine and will find a lot of good stuff. The iron falsing turned me right off though. My equinox 800 does the exact same thing. I ordered the deus 2 and itll be delivered today. I like the idea of being fully confident in what my machine is telling me, and never had that with the equinox, and I think I would feel the same with the manticore. Hopfully I didn't screw up ordering the deus 2

    Is The Depth Gage Fairly Accurate on The Manticore……..Thanks for sharing

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting ปีที่แล้ว

      For coin sized objects it’s very accurate. With larger items like large cents and larger pieces of metal, the depth gauge will show the targets as shallower than they really are. The opposite is true for smaller targets.

    Keep these videos coming. I really enjoy seeing the Manticore in use. I've had mine since early December also. the iron falsing has been a bit troubling. I feel like I'm starting to get a feel for the iron though. I still dig some, but I usually have a good idea what it is. I have done well with it on coins. Going out to NH, and Philly in April for some older stuff .

    • @jimzilladetecting

    Which sound profile were you using? Do you look at the 2D graph when you are over a target? It seems like you know your target IDs pretty well for having a new machine. Great hunt!

    • @jimzilladetecting
      @jimzilladetecting ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you…I use the simple audio profile. I’ve been using minelab for 20 years and all of their machines so I’m pretty used to the audio. I rarely look at the 2D screen. I have found so many coins where the 2D screen showed a “flatter” target not a circle. The 2D screen is only good for shallow targets. I would only rely on sound the the TID number.

    Enjoyed the video, I preordered my Manticore back in December, still waiting to receive it. The probing statement reminded me of watching my uncle detect back in the 80's. All he carried to retrieve his finds was a long flat head screw driver

    • @jimzilladetecting
