i think what digimon has over pokemon ultimate, in terms of anime at least,a re the villains. the pokemon games had SOME good villains (mostly ghetsis, in my opinion, honestly), but the anime's episodic nature meant a lot of them didn;'t get time to shine (ESPECIALLY team plasma who only got like a two episode arc based on Blakc and White 2 because the earthquake forced the writers to change their plans) digimon meanwhile gave us Myotismon, the dark masters, the D-Reaper, Lucemon....
Yeah, but what they say is true. The power gap between pokemon and digimon is immense. When a pokemon evolves they gain power in incriments. When a digimon digivolves, their power is just increased immensely, like a zen kai boost. Honestly, Wargreymon was overkill as I believe Metalgreymon would have had more then enoug firepower to put Mega Charizard down.
One argument I saw was Wargreymon should have counted as steel-type and thus weak to fire. This is absurd because even if it counted, this is like saying a Lv 1 Magicarp will beet Mega Charazard X; the power discrepancy is so great that type-vs-type advantages will do absolutely nothing.

But there’s another form that Agumon got in Last Evolution Kizuna, which was the last movie of the original Adventure cast before the new Adventure 02 movie. The form he got in that was Agumon(Bond of Courage)
Considering the original video is first uploaded 8 years ago as of this post (Dec 15 2015), the "Bond of Courage" form wasn't something they would be able to consider, as the Digimon Adventure 02 Movie was released in 2023.

I'll be honest, I kind of liked that ending. It felt so different from a lot of shows where the kids fought to keep the world always the same & afterwords had to go back. The idea of their adventure actually mattering to and changing the physical world forever was such a cool idea

I don't know a SINGLE pokemon fan who argued that Charizard would win this fight. Like literally the only chance a Pokemon would have against MOST digimon, is if they're Champion level or below. I can see lots of fully evolved pokemon taking on Champion level digimon. Once we get into ultimates and megas, it's going to take the top tiers of Pokemon to even stand a chance. Like Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Mewtwo, Mega Rayquaza, etc. Only the deities, more powerful legendaries, and MAYBE some regular pokemon (if you give them certain Pokedex feats) would be able to even TOUCH ultimate/mega digimon.
Diaboromon and the D-Reaper will always be my biggest Digimon villains. Diaboromon invaded the internet and hacked into military nukes to launch them at the homes of the main characters, then used Copy and Paste on himself to make millions of copies of himself. and his creepy voice in your head. "Go baaaaaack..." The D-Reaper was the stuff of nightmares. a program designed to contain the Digimon world leaks back into our world and grows to a massive size, consuming a portion of Japan as a gigantic blob. Digimon gods came down from Heaven to help fight this thing along side our main heroes, and all the Digimon in the Digital World were evolved to their Ultimates, and all of this still wasn't enough to kill the D-Reaper. and it caused some really scary hallucinations too. childhood trauma's like when Jerri's mother died, asking her, "Are you running away from destiny again?" Most Pokemon villains I can think of were humans trying to exploit Pokemon for their own benefit. but, I don't remember much since I haven't watched anything in almost a decade.
Fun fact: Originally the title was a lot more literal. They wanted to have one of every Digimon and one of every Pokemon that existed at the time to fight in a massive army vs army fight. They scaled it back because they realized how hard it would be to animate, plus most of the research would be wasted since the Ultimate/Mega Digimon and the Legendary/Mythical Pokemon could wipe out everything below them. Even then the summary at the end drifts back into why Digimon as a whole are stronger than Pokemon as a whole even if individually some Pokemon are stronger than some Digimon. For next time can I suggest Jason Voorhees vs Michael Myers (Friday the 13th vs Halloween.) I think you'll like it.

@@demonic_myst4503 Actually Parrotmon is an Ultimate stage, and that was a very, very strong Greymon, given it was able to fight back and win against an Ultimate. There's a reason that was seen as a climactic event, an Ultimate stage and an unreasonably strong Champion fought in the middle of the city.

As someone who is a core Pokemon fan and grew up loving the shit out of the cartoon (Digimon bets Isejai), this was kinda hard to watch when I just turned into a teenager, but I respected the outcome.
Kinkakumon (the Digimon you showed around 25:15)... is an older Digimon... 2011 to be specific. Overly Feminine Digimon are still the minority in newer releases of the 27 Digmon released in 2024 the only ones that fit that niche are Cendrillmon (Basically Cinderellamon) and QueenBeemon... we also absolute Digibeasts such as Heavymetaldramon... A Dragon with Guitars for Wings with a Signature Attack called Black Sabbath that evolves from Loundmon which has an attack called Metallica Edge.

The Americanization of digimon was painful to hear, but I still loved watching it on Saturday mornings. The first series was awesome, and Tamers was amazing.
The Digimon Movie is... _interesting_ Not just the fact that it's the same plot and animation team as Summar Wars.. but the Digimon movie has that one bonus collab intro with Angela Anaconda (and it's painfully late 90s early 2000s cringe as it sounds.) And the Digimon movie also has some meme worthy music into it like Smash Mouth's - All Star and... _Inhales_ IT'S BEEN ONE WEEK SINCE YOU LOOKED AT ME. COCKED YOUR HEAD TO THE SIDE AND SAID "I'M ANGRY." FIVE DAYS SINCE YOU LAUGHED AT ME SAYING, "GET BACK TOGETHER, COME BACK AND SEE ME."

Modern Digimon does leave quite a few things to be desired, but it hasn't lost that edge that it had way back when. For example, the series "Digimon Ghost Game" probably has the highest human kill count of any Digimon season.

I am a fan of both fandoms but the last I checked the fans are still at war. Heck my friends think digimon is a ripoff of pokemon (Like most pokemon fans think) but I can give a large paragraph on how Digimon and Pokémon are not the same but only a few details. To simplify Digimon evolves based on data wile pokemon is real life evolution, they are both based on different things and Digimon did fusion before Pokémon. So digimon fans have a right to say pokemon copied fusions off of digimon. (Omegamon/Omnimon came years before Black and White Kyurem)
Not to mention Mega Evolution is essentially just Digivolving from the anime. Bond of friendship, requires 2 items (the tags and crests / mega bracelets and stones), temporary upgrade into a stronger form, after which you revert. Mega Evolution /Mega stage are both the highest form the monster can feasibly reach, it's even highlighted in this fight with Tai saying "woh he Digivolved" and then later with "Let's show them what a _real_ Mega form can do". The fan favourite gimmick is ripping off Digimon. I don't mind, since I'm cool with both, but me and my friends originally laughed at how Pokemon became the Digimon ripoff back when they first introduced it.
The reason why Digimon have humanoid forms so often is because Omegamon/Omnimon was so popular, then people liked the Royal Knights. And from there the creators went, "well we know what sells". Pokemon has a similar philosophy, but in their case it's the game formula and not designs.
There were already a lot of "humanoids" Digimon before Omnimon, looks at Devimon, Meramon, Andromon, Angemon, Angewomon, Wizardmon, Myotismon, Piedmon or Apocalymon for example.
The more I think about this episode, the more I hate it. They only focus on anime original red, give red zero pokemon he has and uses Charizard which is a pokemon he isn't really associated with let alone his strongest pokemon. It just upsets me because of how they fucked red over and didn't even understand red at all. Red's main pokemon is Pikachu. They should have just said Charizard vs agumon. Because everything about this is incorrect except for the winner And no origins did not follow the Manga.

You are just looking at Digimon as if the whole point wasn't to appeal to Teenage boys. There was always fanservice, for the girls and the boys alike, and gays and lesbians and bis and pans, etc. Like, Bulkmon is for the Greymon Monsterflubbers. As I am one, I can tell you that. Also Bulkmon's entire DiM Card lineup of champion and over is based on different physical activities as it's original purpose was to be a heartrate monitor for physical activity. One of the Mega forms, Shroudmon, is the same basis as Akuma. Which is to master your craft to the point where you forget why you are training but can never stop again. And he's hot af, too. I'm telling you, though, that the only ones you are seeing are the fanservice ones because of the sheer fact they just appear more in relevant searches because they are fanservice. There are a LOT of other Digimon recently that aren't fanservice. A lot of them dragons, beasts, insects, and robots of all kinds. There's one that's a Yen coin with a moustache and Tophat. There's Kingchessmon who's a doofy guy with armor and a moustache. It's all the biases of how the old fans consume media, and not considering other Digimon not based on adult themes.

In an emanationist cosmology our world is located in a layer, in a layer above ours,our souls are as physical as our bodies in our layer, but these souls happen to have a new metaphysical correspondent just as the physical body has the soul.
To each level of existence, there is a higher level with this physical/metaphysical difference. Digimon follows the same cosmology,the world is structured in a multi-layered hierarchy.
In short, it's nothing akin to universes in parallel to one another, which a superficial knowledge of all this stuff would lead to, nor is it the difference in between the Real and the Virtual/Digital, posited by the V-Pets and by anything following the lore of the V-Pets, but the relationship between a higher plane of existence and the one that's emanated from it. It's vertical, not horizontal. The Digital World is a plane of existence in which the otherwise poorly defined "soul", or the essence, of humans can take physical form.
The Digital World is basically a higher world/realm to the Human World wich in itself is a quantum mechanics many-worlds interpretation multiverse

Also the verse has collective unconsciousness.The world is managed through people's awareness of it and all worlds are the result of human consciousness. The mind seeks ideals,builds a society to realize them and then shapes an enviroment. In a sense everything springs from human tought. Also Myuki's song that connects both worlds has something to do with human belief and the posibility of transcending dimensional spaces.
Also in Adventure there are the worlds that are connected to Vamdemon's castle.
How many?Well if you permutate the number of cards with the number of equivalent slates you get 362,880 possible combinations. And to prove that each card
combination is its own world - the kids used a card combo with the Gomamon card as the last card wich led them back to the place they were when they were sucked in the Digital World.Oikawa used the same card combo but with the Agumon card instead of the Gomamon card making them end up in a different world, a world that materializes wishes.
Kakudo also confirmed on Twitter that the pillars of light appearing in the last episode of 02 are other worlds connected with the Dark Ocean besides the Digital and Human Worlds. Each pillar of light is a parallel world.
We also have mentions of other worlds in Digimon Adventure 02 when Hikari and Takeru talk about the balance between the worlds and what distortions would do to the worlds if left unchecked.
The other worlds are:
Dark Area - infinite,multi-layered, world of darkness/nothingness from which Devimon AND Apocalymon come from.
Not inferior to the Digital World; basically the Digital World's Hell. It is beyond the Dark Web. Each Digital World has its own Dark Area. The deepest known layer, Cocytus, is shared by each Dark Area and Digital World. There's only one Cocytus. It can swallow both the Digital and Human Worlds. Time stops within the Dark Area and there is no conventional space. The Dark Area exists in an altogether separate layer and is situated in a dimensional distortion.
- Dark Ocean - The Dark Ocean is stated in 02 to be another dimension.
- Native World of Darkness of Demon - Demon comes from a different world of darkness compared to Devimon and Vamdemon
- World that turns wishes to reality.
Wargreymon scales above the Four Holy Beasts.
The Holy Beasts maintain the Digital World's balance and protect its space and time simply by existing.They are the very pillars that keep the Digital World from collapsing.
Like a bridge. Take out the pillars and the bridge collapses. The bridge would be the Digital World and it would collapse upon a myriad of other worlds resulting in a mishmash of worlds or a world of nothing but darkness/nothingness.
The Holy Beasts can even help with the Human World.
This via defeating 2 Dark Masters who have sealed the Sacred Beasts and are stated in the Light Novel to rival them in power.
Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon also destroyed Apocalymon's physical form.
Apocalymon's mere existence warped the fabric of space and time nearly bringing the world to total destruction.
Wargreymon got stronger in Our War Game and punched around Diablomon who was said to be the worst Digimon in history that even Ultimates are no match for and that even Apocalymon is only almost as powerful as Diablomon.

There's a physical-metaphysical difference between the layers. The metaphysical of a lower layer is the physical of a higher layer. Basically reality>fiction transcendence.
Digimon has a world hierarchy trough layers. In other words, the worlds/multiverses are layered on top of each other, with each layer being a world/multiverse. Each being superior to the last.

23:39 Omnimon is a DNA Digivolution, which is essentially a fusion, of Agumon and Gabumon. That’s been around since the original movie. But there’s another form that Agumon got in Last Evolution Kizuna, which was the last movie of the original Adventure cast before the new Adventure 02 movie. The form he got in that was Agumon(Bond of Courage)
Considering the original video is first uploaded 8 years ago as of this post (Dec 15 2015), the "Bond of Courage" form wasn't something they would be able to consider, as the Digimon Adventure 02 Movie was released in 2023.

I was explaining to Makari that there was another form, and mentioned that it was in the last movie *before* the 02 movie, which was Last Evolution Kizuna(the last part of your comment implies it was *in* the 02 movie, but it was the one right before that). 22:06 Yes, that was the original ending of the Adventure series. It was sort of retconned with the recent movies, but is still somehow canon, even though concepts in the recent movies contradict the original ending.
I'll be honest, I kind of liked that ending. It felt so different from a lot of shows where the kids fought to keep the world always the same & afterwords had to go back. The idea of their adventure actually mattering to and changing the physical world forever was such a cool idea

I don't know a SINGLE pokemon fan who argued that Charizard would win this fight. Like literally the only chance a Pokemon would have against MOST digimon, is if they're Champion level or below. I can see lots of fully evolved pokemon taking on Champion level digimon. Once we get into ultimates and megas, it's going to take the top tiers of Pokemon to even stand a chance. Like Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Mewtwo, Mega Rayquaza, etc.
Only the deities, more powerful legendaries, and MAYBE some regular pokemon (if you give them certain Pokedex feats) would be able to even TOUCH ultimate/mega digimon.
Honestly, the comments on that Death Battle episode just have people saying that Wargreymon was unnecessary
Diaboromon and the D-Reaper will always be my biggest Digimon villains.
Diaboromon invaded the internet and hacked into military nukes to launch them at the homes of the main characters, then used Copy and Paste on himself to make millions of copies of himself. and his creepy voice in your head. "Go baaaaaack..."
The D-Reaper was the stuff of nightmares. a program designed to contain the Digimon world leaks back into our world and grows to a massive size, consuming a portion of Japan as a gigantic blob. Digimon gods came down from Heaven to help fight this thing along side our main heroes, and all the Digimon in the Digital World were evolved to their Ultimates, and all of this still wasn't enough to kill the D-Reaper. and it caused some really scary hallucinations too. childhood trauma's like when Jerri's mother died, asking her, "Are you running away from destiny again?"
Most Pokemon villains I can think of were humans trying to exploit Pokemon for their own benefit. but, I don't remember much since I haven't watched anything in almost a decade.

Fun fact: Originally the title was a lot more literal. They wanted to have one of every Digimon and one of every Pokemon that existed at the time to fight in a massive army vs army fight. They scaled it back because they realized how hard it would be to animate, plus most of the research would be wasted since the Ultimate/Mega Digimon and the Legendary/Mythical Pokemon could wipe out everything below them. Even then the summary at the end drifts back into why Digimon as a whole are stronger than Pokemon as a whole even if individually some Pokemon are stronger than some Digimon. For next time can I suggest Jason Voorhees vs Michael Myers (Friday the 13th vs Halloween.) I think you'll like it.

@@demonic_myst4503 Actually Parrotmon is an Ultimate stage, and that was a very, very strong Greymon, given it was able to fight back and win against an Ultimate. There's a reason that was seen as a climactic event, an Ultimate stage and an unreasonably strong Champion fought in the middle of the city.
Since you like digimon and dnd I recommend digi destiny a digimon dnd where you play as both a human and a digimon but not your digimon partner another players digimon forcing you to work together and it does get serious at points live streams are on TH-cam but they also make shorts from the streams also it's from the schmuck squad people behind digimon adventure abriged and goblin slayer abriged

Overly Feminine Digimon are still the minority in newer releases of the 27 Digmon released in 2024 the only ones that fit that niche are Cendrillmon (Basically Cinderellamon) and QueenBeemon... we also absolute Digibeasts such as Heavymetaldramon... A Dragon with Guitars for Wings with a Signature Attack called Black Sabbath that evolves from Loundmon which has an attack called Metallica Edge.

Modern Digimon does leave quite a few things to be desired, but it hasn't lost that edge that it had way back when. For example, the series "Digimon Ghost Game" probably has the highest human kill count of any Digimon season.

I am a fan of both fandoms but the last I checked the fans are still at war. Heck my friends think digimon is a ripoff of pokemon (Like most pokemon fans think) but I can give a large paragraph on how Digimon and Pokémon are not the same but only a few details. To simplify Digimon evolves based on data wile pokemon is real life evolution, they are both based on different things and Digimon did fusion before Pokémon. So digimon fans have a right to say pokemon copied fusions off of digimon. (Omegamon/Omnimon came years before Black and White Kyurem)
Not to mention Mega Evolution is essentially just Digivolving from the anime. Bond of friendship, requires 2 items (the tags and crests / mega bracelets and stones), temporary upgrade into a stronger form, after which you revert. Mega Evolution /Mega stage are both the highest form the monster can feasibly reach, it's even highlighted in this fight with Tai saying "woh he Digivolved" and then later with "Let's show them what a _real_ Mega form can do".
The fan favourite gimmick is ripping off Digimon. I don't mind, since I'm cool with both, but me and my friends originally laughed at how Pokemon became the Digimon ripoff back when they first introduced it.

The reason why Digimon have humanoid forms so often is because Omegamon/Omnimon was so popular, then people liked the Royal Knights. And from there the creators went, "well we know what sells".
Pokemon has a similar philosophy, but in their case it's the game formula and not designs.
There were already a lot of "humanoids" Digimon before Omnimon, looks at Devimon, Meramon, Andromon, Angemon, Angewomon, Wizardmon, Myotismon, Piedmon or Apocalymon for example.

The more I think about this episode, the more I hate it.
They only focus on anime original red, give red zero pokemon he has and uses Charizard which is a pokemon he isn't really associated with let alone his strongest pokemon. It just upsets me because of how they fucked red over and didn't even understand red at all. Red's main pokemon is Pikachu.
They should have just said Charizard vs agumon. Because everything about this is incorrect except for the winner

By your logic, it could be any human partnered with an Agumon vs any trainer's Charizard, which was not the intention behind the match up.
I think there are some DB's that utilize the random version of a creature theme but they didn't want that for this one.

Outside of Pokemon Origins, Red's Charizard isn't really a big deal. Manga red has none of the Charizard line and his cameo fights have all 3 starters or he replaced the starters.

You are just looking at Digimon as if the whole point wasn't to appeal to Teenage boys. There was always fanservice, for the girls and the boys alike, and gays and lesbians and bis and pans, etc. Like, Bulkmon is for the Greymon Monsterflubbers. As I am one, I can tell you that. Also Bulkmon's entire DiM Card lineup of champion and over is based on different physical activities as it's original purpose was to be a heartrate monitor for physical activity. One of the Mega forms, Shroudmon, is the same basis as Akuma. Which is to master your craft to the point where you forget why you are training but can never stop again. And he's hot af, too. I'm telling you, though, that the only ones you are seeing are the fanservice ones because of the sheer fact they just appear more in relevant searches because they are fanservice. There are a LOT of other Digimon recently that aren't fanservice. A lot of them dragons, beasts, insects, and robots of all kinds. There's one that's a Yen coin with a moustache and Tophat. There's Kingchessmon who's a doofy guy with armor and a moustache. It's all the biases of how the old fans consume media, and not considering other Digimon not based on adult themes.
