In this video, I dive into more specifics on the benefits of selling lots over singles and provide some real life examples (and more numbers). It addresses common questions that I got from the last video on things like sorting and sourcing.

Good video..... however my question is do you sell 5-6 lots every day? Most collectors will not pay a premium on a lot when it contains 1 or 2 cards they seek. When we lot things up to blow out older inventory it sits around just as long as most singles, if not longer. Being in the same categories, I've viewed many of your lots and I have a hard time believing your sales are that consistent considering how random your lots are. Having been in the singles game for a while on eBay, rarely are there any zero days. And you don't have to have your store maxed out to do it. Not every day is a boomer, but there are still sales. I think there is obviously room for both types of businesses in this community, and to say one is superior to the other is disingenuous. Also, assuming people in the card community dont like digging and building their own lots in an eBay store full of singles is nonsense. I think it just comes down to what you have for sale. Good information.....but i get the impression its more about advertising your software which im sure you will eventually try to market. Just my opinion.... Keep up the good work 🙂

I don’t sell 5-6 lots a day (yet). There’s a screencap of my eBay 90 day in the video. Can’t remember what it was but it’s currently 127 active and 136 sold which is an average of 1.5 sold per day. You can go to my store in the link and check out what’s sold if you’re curious.
For people just looking for a couple cards, singles is definitely the way to go. But for the types of buyers that go into your store and buy a couple dozen cards of their favorite team or player, a good lot is better for them because they get a big discount vs. buying the singles. Having the scans of every card in the lot is why my listings sell for a little more than the blurry photos of piles of cards or the fanned out photos (and other typical lot photos).
This is partly a pitch for the software too once I get it launched. But the genesis of that project is from me building the software to scratch my own itch, showing it off a little in my videos, and then having a bunch of people wanting to pay me for it. I also have already been selling my singles desktop app so if my videos were solely motivated on selling software, I wouldn’t waste my time and money building the lot app when I could just disingenuously argue that singles are the best and sell the software I already have finished. So I hope it doesn’t come off as just a sales pitch because that’s secondary to just wanting to talk about this stuff and document my journey (as corny as that is). Whether you use a software tool or just take photos, the lots are the best way to go if you’re trying to maximize your profit per hour.

Great info! And the quick and easy with minimal editing is fine. I didn’t even realize it until you mentioned it. I was washing dishes for part of the video and looking up when needed, so the content of what you’re presenting is what’s important. Thanks!

I mostly listen to videos too so I try to make mine not rely on the visuals too much either. I want them to be something people can put on in the background when they’re scanning cards 😄

I’m listening for the second time but do you cover the actual process of how to scan and list lots? I’m definitely interested in this concept but this video seems to be mostly talking about how the idea of lots is better and not the process. I could be wrong but if you have a video just showing how to list lots like this I’d love to watch that

I use custom software I wrote (paired with Kronocard’s AI and export feature) to automate creating the lot listings and images. Have been trying to turn it into a webapp for about 9 months now and that project is unfortunately on hold right now.

    • @paulcarlcards9050

Yeah, I use an Epson DS-510 primarily (my ADF scanner) and an Epson V600 for when I need a flatbed. How well the lots do will depend on how you present it, what cards you curate into them, and how your SEO is so they can be found by potential customers. I’ve been testing a bunch and it’s something you learn from experience.

I have 9,000 cards I would like to sell in lots and maybe 500 or so in singles. How can I quickly scan and list these in a full size image lot that the customer can view etc. Do you have software for this? Thanks

I’d batch up similar ones and just run auctions on em every night (or week) starting at $0.99 plus a flat shipping price to incentivize bidding on multiples. Or instead of auctioning those off as single listings, you could take those similar slabs and sell them as lots at whatever price per card you’d be happy with. Hope this helps.

I get the time factor, but when selling indidually or in lots of 10 or 15, you get more money than when selling in 1 huge lot

Appreciate the info again! Definitely gonna try out the lot listing. I always thought that was the best product that provided the most value for the customer. The only problem I had was where and how to start lol. But thanks to you, you have given a really good layout on how to go about it. Plus you got the numbers ($) to back it up. 💵Which discord are you in? Would like to join if it is available. Thanks again my dude!

Happy to help! The link is in the video description right at the top. Switching from selling high volume low end singles to lots is actually a progression I’ve noticed multiple dealers make (most notably probably is Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer).

Are you still on kronocard ? I’m having a problem uploading lots to eBay using just one of my allotted auctions. I would like to learn more about listing do you have any classes or some software I can purchase.

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting! I do still use Kronocard. I don’t have any classes and my webapp for lots is still under development (and progress has been paused for a few months now unfortunately). The only software that I have for sale at the moment is my singles desktop app. You can message me on Discord or X or email me (in my TH-cam about tab) if you wanna talk more.

Thanks! I use Kronocard for the AI and export addon and then an app I made that turns the export into my lots (or singles). It’s the most cost effective way and it also generates higher quality listings. I spend $380/year and have essentially unlimited listings/scans.
For my scanners, I have an Epson DS-510 for my ADF and an Epson V600 for my flatbed. There’s some links in the description if you’re looking for one but check eBay too cuz you can practically steal a lot of DS-510s if you buy em used.
