For the oil splash use a container with high sides that fits inside the top area of your oil catch pans. Drill a hole in that container so the oil goes into the pan. My tundra does the same thing.

Highest mileage ive seen so far is 216k still no issues in engine and transmission. Still pulling 7k camper around.

@jeremsgarage do a slight turn just enough to loosen seal and let it slow stream out. Just like the f 150 2.7 it goes everywhere.

Pro Tip: Never wear nice clothes when doing any type of automotive work.
Extra Tip: For engines that are known to be messy like that when it comes to oil changes. You can either extract the oil via the dipstick tube with an oil extractor or use a flexible funnel with a head that is both deep and only a little bigger than the drain plug. Place the end of the funnel inside the receptacle that you are using to collect the oil and hold the head of the funnel as flat as possible against the oil pan. Once the drain plug is removed, this kind of minimizes where the oil can go. If the oil filter usually makes a mess, drill a small hole in the bottom of the filter and let the oil drain out before you remove it.

You need a deep container like a 5 gal. bucket.

I agree. I'm going to try that next time.

WOW, try lowering your truck or hold your up in the air so it doesn't splash all over. 😂I changed mine and didn't get a drop on my driveway even from the filter. I only drive part way up my ramps.

Nope! I've never paid someone to change the oil in the this truck. I'm a man and do my own oil changes. Oil bath or not. 😆
