Do not agree that this is an entry level luxury car below Mercedes E class or Audi A6. I just drove all three and the Lexus beats them all. Bought one today. This car is exceptional.

@@marshallhughes4514 I’ve had it for nearly two years and I still love it. No issues whatsoever. It’s a perfect car for what it is - a luxury cruiser. This Lexus ES 350 UL was never meant to compete against say an S Class. If you want that then move up to an LS500. I love my ES350 UL because it has all of the features I want at a reasonable price with the Lexus reliability, 5 star crash rating (Best in class) and lowest depreciation (Best in class). It doesn't have some of the crazy features in the back seat but I didn't care about that since I rarely have passengers! This car will still be on the road when most of the German models of the same year will be at the local junkyard!

I don't understand why people prefer reaching to touch the screen verses using the controller. ... The controller is safer than reaching for the screen; the driver doesn't have to look at the screen to see where to touch and can thus focus on the road. I like that if I'm using the arm rest, the controller sits directly under my right hand. It's easy to use and it can be used without looking at it.
With a controller, people sometimes forget that they can also use the touch screen. ... That would likely be the case for drivers who would buy an ES.

The maintenance cost of Lexus is few hundred dollars per year and all German Cars/European so called luxury cars cost ~$4000/yr after crossing 30k-40k miles. Nobody is interested to spend more cash on top of the purchased amount except dealer and mechanic shops. This is the quality of a luxury car. I do not find the advantage of touch screen as it causes finger printing and gets dirty. People do not give up Lexus so it has a high resale value where no European car can be compared.

I dont view ES as a proper luxury car. If something has cheap Macpherson struts and fwd, it can't be a luxury car, or a sports car and it definitely can't be both. Lexus could make really cool IS and GS, but now it's to late since ES killed them. Sure that crap is profitable, but is it more profitable than GS and IS combined? It did ate their sales quit a bit and when sedans become less popular it killed them. Also it steals sales from Toyota Avalon. But even if it is as profitable then these two combined (considering development costs) they have lost brand image and marvelous cars like LS, LC and upcoming QX won't sell of that. Also it was stupid of them to not update LS 460 for more than 10 years. Trying to sit on two chairs is stupid, you can't be semi luxury and full luxury brand at once.
Technology and engineering wise Japanese have been among leaders since 1980s Back than their metallurgy technology was far superior than that in other countries and only they could build long stroke engines that were high revving, due to mass production of light and strong crankshafts. They were smooth, economical and powerful even before ECUs. That's how they concarade the world. Then they showed how injection, variable valve timing, active awd systems and turbocharging is done properly and reliably. They were also first to implement these technologies in mass production of affordable vehicles. And they always use high quality materials and components for their engines and transitions along with proper, reliability conscious injenering.. But now when i want to buy proper midsize luxury sport sedan that is properly engineered (unlike germans which fall apart in 3 years and take more oil than thay do gass ride from the factory), i have no option now. And it's really a shame, since they have all ingredients for making proper luxury cars on their hands in this moment.
Lexus could use TNGA-N (lightweight rwd platform found in new Toyota Crown) for new iS and GS. They could use upcoming twin turbo 2.4 i4 (320hp) as a option for the iS in addition to current 2.0 turbo AR. That tt 2.4 i4 could also be a base engine for new GS and 3.4 tt V6 (420hp) would optional. And Lexus could make iS F with boosted tt v6 and GS F with 4.6 tt V8 (650+hp) that they use in racing and promise to bring in LC F. And all of that could be paired to that amazing Aisin 10 speed.
They Also could make Supra themselves using TNGA-N, twin turbo GR and Aisin 10 speed. Nobody's mad cos new GTR has v6 where original R32 had inline 6.
In the past, Supras were built on chassis from Toyota's business (Chaiser, Mark, Cressida, Aristo) sedans and had engines from them in order to showcase brand's power and pride. The only thing new Supra showcases - Toyotas greasiness and shame.
But since they are the biggest car company, with the biggest amount of patents and the beast engineers. They even had tried to build fusion reactor back in the 90s and they were able to sustain reaction for 2 weeks (which is a record even now)
I heard they teaming up with Mazda on new lightweight RWD platform and batteries they working on are gonna be legendary.

ES may have a nice ride, but it handles terrible, unlike GS which had it all, including better quality interior. @@T800-b2m This isn't a Sports Sedan, you do understand this right? The car hardly handles terrible and what you are saying here contradicts EVERYTHING that's in the reviews on this car! BTW I shopped around before I purchased the 2020 ES350 Ultra Luxury and compared it to the Accord, Camry and Avalon and trust me its NOT EVEN close! BTW the current GS is so dated and a joke and has been discontinued after the 2020 model. I considered the GS but in no way was it worth it consider how much better the ES was for the money! I assume you have never driven any of these cars.

@@T800-b2m Haven't I answered this same comment in another thread before? No, the ES didn't "kill the GS." Poor sales killed the GS. It was a superior car, but buyers didn't appreciate or buy it. And who are these "plenty of people" comparing the ES unfavorably to an Accord?

@@cynthiajefferson6476 Actually not at all. I own this exact car with a couple options this doesn't have and the quality is amazing. Double pained glass, real wood in the interior and soft rubber. The dash is actually HAND Stitched. May of the switches and even the door handles are high quality aluminum. You obviously haven't checked it out very well. Compare this with other cars in its price range and higher and you will be surprised.
