  • The ES350 has been the midsize standout for Lexus. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 that produces 302HP and mated to an 8-speed automatic. On the outside you will find that unmistakable Lexus grill, and optional wheels. On the inside will find upscale finishes and wonderful seats. Is the 2020 Lexus ES350 the BEST midsize luxury sedan to BUY?

    I have the 2019 es350. Like it a lot. My neighbor has a Range Rover and Mercedes. Every time I drive by his house and see a tow truck in his driveway, I know I made a good choice...

      I had a BMW... got towed so many times i dare not buy one anymore. Changed to Audi.. .was ok for the first 5 years... then it started having problems here and there all the time after that.. and it had to be towed last week. My dad used to drive Merc.... after he bought Lexus he never looked back. I prefer the look of German cars... but i guess i have had enough. I am getting old and i just need a freaking car that doesn't breaks down all the time!

    I've driven both a 2018 and a 2019 ES 350, and it is amazing how Lexus improved it between the generations. It feels so much nicer on the inside and rides a lot smoother - not that the older car wasn't smooth, it's just that Lexus made the ride a little less busy this time, with less body roll and less jiggly motions over the bumps. Awesome car and great to see your take on it.

    • @TheBreakfastLover
      @TheBreakfastLover 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, that AWD Lexus ES only has ~180 lb-ft of torque with nearly 4000 lbs curb weight. Slower than molasses.

    • @p_enta5012
      @p_enta5012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont know if they did, but hopefully, they just grabbed the AWD system from the GS and put it on the ES unchanged. It handles very very well and would do the 3.5L V6 justice.
      They really need a new V6 though, the 3.5L is 15 years old now and very underpowered.

    • @TheBreakfastLover
      @TheBreakfastLover 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@p_enta5012 it's definitely not the true rear-wheel torque-vectoring that was found in the GS-F or in Acura's SH-AWD. The Lexus ES AWD uses a fake system that just brakes the inner wheels while turning, it doesn't have a real torque-vectoring rear axle.

    I have a 2020 model and it is amazing. I never touch the Trackpad while driving, use the manual controls to make any adjustments. As you mentioned the Trackpad is fine when stationary and it allows for that great placement of the screen. I really like that it’s not close like a touch screen. If you find the Trackpad a bit too sensitive you can dial that down in the Settings.

    We currently own a 2020 ES350 Luxury trim model as it was difficult for the dealer to locate an ultra luxury trim with the specific color combination for us back in February. I agree with all of the features you have shown with this trim especially the extremely difficult to maneuver infotainment system. The only 2 points that I find Lexus is somewhat lacking compared to its competitors (for example the 2015 C400 4MATIC we used to own, purchased new in 2014) are:
    1--The trunk can be opened with a push of the button from the driver seat. However, it cannot be closed with the push of the same button compared to the C400. It can however, be open or close with the foot gesture under the rear bumper.
    2--The only USB connection to play MP3 files is located in the compartment right below the CD player. When the flash drive is inserted, the lid cannot be closed so it is somewhat in the way and can be knocked off if you are not too careful during driving.
    However, I do find that the Mark Levinson system in this Lexus sounds much better than the Burmester sound system in our previous C400 and the Bang & Olufsen in the SL550.

Its still zippy but nothing fast and surprisingly has very grounded and somewhat of a sporty drive in terms on handling if you want to chuck it around corners. When in comfort mode, the drive is extremely comfortable. Its definitely the most comfortable sedan I've ever been in and for its class too. We had a similar generation e300 and an older generation a6 and they weren't as comfortable as this thing, although the other two are more sporty too drive, especially the audi. But they had issues (nothing big) in the first year of ownership. Nothing has gone wrong in the lexus yet and I dont think it will for a long time.

WOWZY I'm impressed > not much bucks for the extra LUX - good job Lexus. boy inside & out, the art design of this car is sweet. I like the new dash lay out that Lexus uses - practical & tactical without being too dated looking - in other words in five years it will still look good. the tail - oh boy, sexy, yeah I love a lil junk in the trunk, ya know what I mean. butt really Joe is Lori feeding you enough? I'm kinda worried about all these snack food references - did that tape worm come back? ya know I love ya bro. I'm still watching . . . trackpad? the navigator sitting in the passenger seat can mess with that. Doe I am very much a 2021 IS guy, as this ES is a bit Komono Chickie, tho still pretty ;). Lexus really does need to put in some serious engines (WTF is up with the resistance to do that? Crazy!!), put some starch into the suspension, add all wheel drive to all models, and they would have a legit direct contender to the Audi A6. :) JV Johnny

      I came to the ES 350 from an AWD sport sedan. Yes, it needs AWD, or at least limited slip, but the power is perfectly satisfactory. 6 seconds to 60 if you can avoid the wheelspin, faster on the highway than that implies, and unlike the Fours it never sounds like it's straining.

      I own a 2019 GS Fsport AWD, ill give you a little mini-review in this comments section.
      It's a very good-looking car on the exterior. It certainly turns heads with the taillights and grille. The interior is a little dated, but the infotainment screen 100% makes up for it. You can clearly see that Lexus took inspiration from german cars for the interior, and that's a good thing! It's a clean and luxurious design. The AWD system grips like crazy, almost like a 911. It's a little down on power, but it's good enough for a lot of people. What's nice about the engine, is even if I'm going 90 MPH on the highway and floor it, it still slams you on your seat and pulls. The seats are very comfy and the MK sound system sounds amazing.
      Overall, a bit of a dated car, but a very unique and nice one.

    Overall a high quality luxury car at a reasonable price with a solid reputation for reliability. However, the trackpad is the dealbreaker for me as I require at least a touch screen and strongly prefer dedicated push buttons and switches.

    Look at Lexus huh!!! Hmmmmmm... I'm still not sold on that spindle grille but they've owned it and it's definitely helped to set Lexus apart from every other automaker. Great review as usual Joe!!! I hope they give this the proper F treatment to help fill the gap left by the GS and GS F ...R.I.P. #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesForDays #OnThrottleAgain #CrownVic #LoriGotAngles #CameraQueen #Zonkmeister #OnThrottleAllOverThePlace #Lexus #ES

    The interior is comfy looking, for sure. I guess I'm in the group that gives the front a zonk. Looks too busy, and that gaping maw just doesn't seem to fit with the otherwise great styling. Still, wouldn't complain too much if I found one in my driveway, with my name on the registration lol

    Nice, now this is a deal!!! One of my favorite Lexus sedans, for real, for real!!! But I can say the 2015-17 Chrysler 200C is also about as good altogether, but this ES350 got that reliability, no lies!!! This just needs a touchscreen and some all-wheel grip, but otherwise flawless! 🥰🥰💯🔥💪🏾

    Great car well worth the investment. My only fault is the hideous front grill. I don’t know what segment of the population Lexus is trying to appeal to.
    Love the fact that it runs on regular fuel. Wish the rear seat was folded down for a pass through.

    They really need to add optional AWD to the 3.5L V6. They have offered AWD on the RX, which is also a FWD based car with a 3.5L V6, for forever. What’s stopping the same system from being implemented on the ES?? I don’t get it

    • @tonysterbenc
      @tonysterbenc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I understand it, space. They might be able to do e-AWD or AWD with a turbo Four, but not with the V6. My strong suspicion is that they'll do all of that in the next gen, probably for 2024. But I'll miss the naturally aspirated V6.
