I am blown away by the photoshop and Lightroom upgrades. Great stuff.
Love the new blur and color features.
I'd like to see more use case scenarios on when and why to use HDR outputs. ...thanks for all you do.
Wow. That's just amazing. Thank you!
Point Color is really the best feature for me!
Thank you so much for this one. As you probably remember, I am not a LR user so I watched this with ACR in mind. You enabled me to discover that the first two features have indeed been put into ACR as well as LR. I am very grateful to you for helping me find this out!
I'm putting my hand up as another LR non-user. I tried it, and paid money for version 2.0 thinking that would force me to get into it, but I have never seen the point of Lightroom. I am a big fan of Bridge and couldn't bear to be with immediate access to Photoshop tools, so that's always been my workflow. I don't work as a photographer now, so there is zero point of me changing my mind.
Superb video! Thanks!
Thanks so much great video’s tutorials
Awesome thank you!
thanks again for a great video!! sometime your are "brushing" the wanted changes . . . how do you do that ?
Thank You!!!!
All these features are excellent.
Thanks for the video. Im learning a lot from your channel . Thank you 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Excellent video as always! I would like you to go in more details on the Lens Blur. Thanks!
All I've really wanted is HSL adjustments in masking. They added curves but that doesn't help me. Seems so simple to add
I’m with you! All I want is HSL in masking too! Was hoping it would be in the new update.
This new feature is sort of that, isnt it? Just in a different place.
@@ezequielocampo3597 no it's not. We want to mask a selection and use hsl sliders, not a tone curve or a tone picker
nice feature that you have explained thanks a lox
you are a master TY
Could you make a video about the Lightroom / Photoshop edit “ handoff? It is not working too well for me since the upgrade of both Photoshop and the new Lightroom version 13.
Bang up to date now. Thanks
Features are cool and all, but god dammit Adobe make Lightroom perform on regular computers. It's not normal that I have to cough up a 2K$ gaming rig to get it to run smoothly for a year before it starts lagging and being sluggish again.
informative video
is this available for Photoshop? What version. If not, when and will you do a tutorial on it for Photoshop

Hi Colin, great video! Could you please let me know if I can have l Lightroom Classic (Oct 2023 Update) on Windows 10 21H2 without any problems? According to Adobe's website, version 22H2 is required. I've actually installed it on 21H2, but I'm wondering if I'll have any problems with it. I have Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, which cannot be upgraded to 22H2.
Can you show us how to tether with a Nikon Z8. It seems to be supported in this latest version, but I cant get it to work. Duhh. I had to delete preferences from the AppData directory. Adobe is messing up.
Excellant, much better than the previous video I watched on this "another contributor"
hi Colin, please do you know how we can use enhanced denoise, but be able to get rid of the "enhanced-nr" it renames each file to? renaming by hand is such a waste of time when you have many files to rename.
What are snapshots? I've not heard of this before. Thank you!
For me was missing (existed in PS till 2016) and it's super useful and easy to use.
Is there any way to apply HSL adjustments with a mask I.e. background? It’s killing me waiting for the ability to do that in Lightroom.
Same, its so disappointing this is still not possible. [edit: actually, you can do that now! In the masking tools, you can use the point color tool!]
Very nice, thanks. Will an HDR output Jpg be reflected in a print, or is the result only viewable on an HDR monitor?
Only in digital as the color and dynamic range capacity of pigments (ink) vs light (monitor) is much lower
Having said that with an HDR image you can tonemap it to reveal more details in highlights in a print
I'm curious what to do for creating prints, with the HDR feature. I'm colorblind so I have to edit really conservatively for fear of screwing up the colors but not knowing it. Fortunately, I do mostly nighttime photography, so what does show up is fairly dark. But I do want to be able to produce images that are as accurate as possible.
Printers are not able to reproduce HDR. If you want to print your work, you are better with an SDR display
Can’t wait to get it. Just have to wait until Apple subscription to expire and sign up through Adobe
What would the workflow look like if I wanted to take pictures from a timelapse, give them HDR in lightroom and bring them to Premiere Pro as an HDR video?
I can see how Point Color can be helpful but don't see a need for HDR. The end user of my photos may not be able to use the final output of the HDR.
The new version has great new feature. The most interesting feature for me will be the lensblur and the point color.
How do I update my LRC to get these new features. It says is up-to-date. However I cant see any of these new features. What am I missing..?

Thanks for doing this, I added it to the chapters
How do you select flagged photos in Lightroom cc?
all of these features are great, im just really wondering when they will have tethered shooting support for sony cameras.. super annoying
not a Sony 8user, but agree there would bew more important updates to Lightroom than adding fake blur ...
I've had a go with the lens blur. Its a bit gimmicky TBH and seems more trouble than its worth at this point. Maybe it will improve significant'y over time with updates.
If they know how to blur a photo when will we have the option to bring to focus a blurry image? We can add and remove things it should be "easy" to remove a blur.
The donut ring-shaped bokeh preset is typical for mirror lenses (those with telescope-like construction), sop they are not so odd :) And they have nothing to do with DSLRs, actually :)
i down loaded it but not got these functions what is wrong
HDR …only if your monitor displays it . Thought you use an iMac Colin but see that’s a BENQ . My M1 iMac does not have HDR setting so that bit of LR update is a dud for me and o guess for a lot of people
I have 2 BEQU monitors and neither support it as well
It depends. It’s true most users don’t have an HDR display, but it’s gradually becoming the default, especially on phones and TVs. Every owner of a 14”/16” MacBook Pro or recent 12.9” iPad Pro can edit in HDR, because those models have the HDR-capable Liquid Retina XDR display. At some point HDR is just going to be standard, like how all Apple displays are now Retina resolution. However, if most of your work is print, there is no point is editing in HDR because print can’t handle it.
Update option not showing up on any of my computers. 🤬
Dont seem to have the Lens Blur option and the app is up to date. Any help?
You won't have it until version 13.0 shows up in your Creative Cloud app. I just checked mine and it says it's up-to-date but currently at 12.5. I suspect they give it to their "influencers" first.
It's there, hit the "check for updates" button on the top right.
I had the same trouble. In the creative cloud app, click on the "Check For Updates" button to the top right of the Update screen for apps. I did that and it loaded the updates and I updated Lightroom and Camera Raw and now I have those features.
Adobe Rocks
Just add the good content aware to LR
So I don't have to jump between LR and PS
Is there a way to turn off profiles? I want to see the original image, not an adaptation, when shooting RAW.
You can choose "as shot"
I just tried it, but I'm not sure that that is taking off the profile. I'm seeing the "as shot" button down in the white balance section. It's on "as shot" but I can still change the look of the photo by changing the Adobe profile, from say color to landscape or vivid. It still seems to me that I can't take off the profile. I'm probably still doing something wrong. Thanks for your help!@@photoshopcafe
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE LIGHTROOM CAPABLE OF EXPORTING A DEPTH MAP TO BE USED IN PHOTOSHOP. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
PS already has a depth blur feature in Neural filters and it will give you the option to create a depth mask
@@jeffsimbro7742
Yep, Filter/Neural Filters/Depth Blur is a great addition BUT, the current version of PS does not have all those extra features that Colin demo'd in Classic. So here's hoping they migrate as well.
Time stamps please!!!
Regret to say I'm completely underwhelmed by the additional features in this release.
Yes I too… seems features for instagrammers…
With the Bokeh choices the Ring doughnut-shape is a Mirror Lens effect. Remember those?
lol, not that long ago, but it seems long ago
This is awesome, now you can make your 4000$ camera pic looks like shot with an iPhone
Point color by far! But love the whole thing.
If it continues, Lenses manufacturers such as Canon won’t be able to sell their premiums lenses as with lightroom you will be able to had the bokeh and blur that premium lenses provide.
Rent a 1.2 lens for a few days and then you will know why the lens manufacturers are not worried,
Basically almost Photoshop can do the same things and same new features in Photoshop
Why the f they put hover preview on the history is what boggles my mind on top of everything its zooming out and throws me out of focus when I want to simply check what ive done 😭. Does @adobe even have photographers or not, this is so dumb
Oh shit. I just got my photos reorganized after the last update. I don’t have 300 more hours to build my catalogue all over again. FU light room!
what even is reality anymore 🤪
Slightly disappointed about the AI stuff, when the image is getting to be just raw material for a completely different outcome. I think therefore that the older versions of PS and Lightroom are preferable (or use Affinity Photo which so far hasn't gone down that path). Just my 2 cents.
The blue doesn’t look good to me
In my opinion all three updates are usless.
derp 😢
so all new updates are gimmicky stuff?... hmmm...
give me a one button clean dust spots. that would be useful
Photography is not going to be the same with all the AI's.
The blur feature is cool, but sadly it opens up to more turd polishing. People taking shi11y photos without much of a thought or artistic consideration are going to try and salvage those in post.
Nothing for me here
Bokeh derives from Japanese is pronounced like "bo-kay" with an emphasis on "kay" ... 🙂
thanks professor, you can retire now
@@tehjckid Certainly not! You should learn something instead of writing comments....
If it's Japanese (which it is) it would be pronounced bo-ke - thats ke as in kettle.
@@keithvaller I know, but could Americans pronounce that? (Colin is originally from Australia, AFAIK)
@@hanswi336 okay and you should teach something actually useful instead of commenting how things are pronounced.
shame this - at some point in-camera photography skills will be surplus to requirements - I have promised myself not to use these AI features as they essentially create fake photos IMHO
Its a shame to see these new features . They are not anything new . Maybe the fake depth mask is something but its very inaccurate . Probably as a professional i would be better moving to capture one.
I think Point Color has a lot of potential for daily correction needs; its ranges for both sampling and correction are definitely something new (and I suspect was added in response to Capture One). What does Capture One do better, in your opinion?
This HDR thing is utter BS. Something that does not print, shall not be in a photograph. Period. All it needs is no electricity, and all that color depth goes where the sun not doesn’t shine.
the DoF thing is cringe af
Thanks Colin. HDR seems rather confusing for non tech people like myself.
I have an important question.
Sony A7 IV has added an update to ver. 3.00
The question is whether this version supports RAW files from Sony.
Lots of pastries and complaints about their decrees.
Does anyone have this camera and LRm in the new version?
