Now all we need is for Lightroom to get color labels, Classic’s print dialog, Classic’s advanced export options, and the ability to manually stack photos. Pretty please.
That’s pretty much starting with a motorbike, trying to improve it to overcome things like bad weather or stability You then reinvented the car, which already exists. You gotta wonder, what was even the point of « Lightroom » ?
Thanks for this excellent update video. I enjoy watching you demo all these features. The pinpoint color function will reduce the need for complex lighting scenarios.
I didn't have the funds for a larger Lightroom cloud storage. I will give it a try now. I'm also excited for the ability to mask the color adjustments now. Great update!
To be honest, Point Colour is by far my FAVOURITE addition to Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic. And THANK YOU Adobe for adding local storage into Lightroom CC. Many people like the streamlined way that Lightroom CC looks but DO NOT want to have to back every single photo they have to the Cloud and just want to manage it locally like they did in Classic. It makes you wonder though Terry, now that Adobe have done this, are they looking to phase out Lightroom Classic and just give us Lightroom CC? I've seen a lot of people on TH-cam going out of their minds about this, and don't want to lose Lightroom Classic for obvious reasons.
You mentioned that the “Point Color “ option was available on a mobile device. I have the blur and HDR but cannot locate the tap for the Point Color adjustment.
Indeed, the new Lightroom is a game changer. We're now starting to use it more for editing our art scans as the AI masking and other tools are making it sometimes easier to do edits than in Photoshop. Also, after years of being less than happy with the LR and LR CC division, we're super interested in trying out the new LR local features. Thanks for the video.
Well, the new LR is cool. The new Local vs cloud is cool and we see the advantages of it. But in the end, we discovered on trying it that tethered capture isn't available in LR, so we'll continue with LR CC on the desktop. There seemed to be some other things missing too, but this is the show stopper. But for doing some quick edits on a file and not needing to import it to the catalog, the new local feature is interesting. Note that we work with a lot of TIF files, and if you edit a TIF file in LR, that you'll need to export that file in the end, as LR puts meta data in the file that makes it like a Raw file and if others try and open it in PS, it will instead open in Adobe Raw. We're probably an edge scenario, but interesting if you look in file info you can see that the LR edits have been added to the meta data and PS will forever treat that as a Raw file unless specifically exported.
local storage is great news. Hate that I lost pictures from 2021 because I only had Lc and not LrC. Now I have permanently signed up for a plan. Now my pictures are save here stored on my local hard drive ;)

Some excellent new features. I know the Blur is still a work in progress, but it would be nice if it would work using a mask. I find the blur AI does not work as well as using the mask tool. Point color does, which is great. Terry, do you think Adobe will add other file formats using the newer Denoise and maybe a sharpen feature?
Hello, May I ask which Apple computer are you running? I would love to have masks applied as soon as possible without having to wait. I trying to figure out which system would do better mac studio M2 max or windows build with i9 13900k + XTX 7900. I see that masks takes some time for you to load so I am wondering what's your configuration. Thank you!
Nice detailed Video Sir, As you showed we can export HDR photos but where can we change these photos as Apps like Whatsapp don't support HDR format photos. Please help me out
Hi Terry... thanks for your great video on the new features..One question...where and how do I see the cloud and local options. I have updated and i am not sure how to access those two choices. Thanks. Norm
Nice addition. But the blur tool implementation as a global tool is kind of weird. It would make more sense to offer Depth-Masks (like other range masks) and add the blur tool to the local adjustments. This way you could take advantage of all the other AI masking tools together with the blur tool.
This is exciting!! I'm wondering if you can tell me how to get the updated LR, LrC and PS on my Macbook? I have the monthly subscription plan, and I thought it would update automatically. Thanks!
Thank you for helpful video. I have a question about local and cloud storage. What’s happen if you make adjustments in the cloud. Can you bring the adjustments back to the local picture? Thank so much for your answer.
Thanks for this great video. How do I get my edited photos from LrC in to LR? If I go to local on LR I will find the RAW files but the edits are in the catalog. It would be great if you would explain this.
Amazing how excited you got over something lightroom has had since its inception. These companies love to remove things and bring them back as "features" lol Still, it's a great update.
The did a great update.just add the option to add jpegs to the layer panel plus an in built plugin like potraiture to clean and smoothen skin tones.this new feature kills capture one
Thanks! With Local Storage now available in Lightroom, I would think the days of Lightroom Classic are numbered. What does Classic still do that Lightroom cannot now?
I had just watched your Lightroom vs LRC video from 2 years ago, and in there you said you work mostly in LRC because of the local storage option. Does adding local storage to LR change your calculation?
Thanks Terry as always, so with Local Storage for Lightroom now available is this the end for Lightroom Classic as this was probably the only reason stopping me from using Lightroom exclusively.
This “local” function is not a ‘catalog” like LrC. Unless I am doing something wrong, You can work on local images, true but you can’t, for instance, search for all 5-star images in your local folders. You can search for 5-stars in the folder that you are working in but you can’t go to the top level folder in your local hierarchy and search for 5-stars (or whatever) across all your subfolders. If stuff like this is important to you, then LrC may still be the best bet for a local file DAM.
@@Dave-my1we Hi, yeh i get the catalogue functionality in Lightroom Classic and the ability to search etc. Once i’ve finished with a set of photos i tend to move them from my mac to an external drive.
If we decide we no longer want to use creative cloud, can we download all the photos that was uploaded in the past in its original format? This feature is another step closer to classic. Is there any difference left other than a personal preference?
Yes, you can download the images in their original format if you no longer want to subscribe. There are still several features that differ between them.
Having issues with LrC v13 and have had to roll back to 12.2.1 (I chose this version as DeNoise AI 95% of the time hung when applying) - every time I move from library to develop module having chosen a previously edited file (or pick one from film strip whilst in develop module), my cpu goes to 100% usage and 9/10 I get a "not responding" message. As soon as I choose on an unedited image, the cpu calms down. When I close down, I get a "lightroom is writing XMP data" message even if I've made no changes to anything. Having gone back to 12.2.1 I don't get any issues and similarly if I open PS/ACR or use the updated LR on the same images, I get no issues.
@@TerryLeeWhite Thanks for the reply Terry. Whilst it seemed initially promising, unfortunately updating to 13.0.1 hasn't made any lasting difference, still getting instances of 95-100% CPU - in fact I just had an instance of nearly 2 minutes with 100% CPU and all I did was move from the develop module to the library module and changed the folder I was looking at!
But the edits don't sync the other way right? I mean if I upload a photo to the cloud and change it on the cloud, the edits don't sync back to the local files?
Hi, Lightroom doesn’t create catalogs. You’re thinking Lightroom Classic. The edits are stored either of the metadata of the files or in XMP sidecar files next to the images.
Point color is complicated and time consuming....WHY can't adobe put HSL adjustments in masking???? I can appreciate the point color's ability to really be specific etc, but wouldn't it be great to select the skin and just slide the orange hue slightly to correct the color?? Am I the only one that feels this way? I can do it in PS by making a new layer, opening the camera raw filter and making that 1 second adjustment, then I have to mask the layer and paint it in... frustrating
Good that they finally decided to include local storage in LR so users of LRc like me can use the new app, that idea for cloud storage isn't applicable to me and I never liked cuz I shoot a lot and I can't sync all of this gigabytes to the cloud instead of locally on my drive that I have already invested in!
Lightrooms redundancy is still confusing for many of us. That said, it looka like they essentially built bridge into LR... it functions pretty much the same.
An important notice for all users of Negative Lab Pro: Do NOT upgrade to Lightroom Classic v13.0 just yet.. "Why shouldn't I upgrade to LrC v13.0?" There is a bug with the SDK in LrC v13.0 that prevents Negative Lab Pro (and other development-based plugins) from making changes to tone curves. Until this bug is addressed by Adobe, all versions of Negative Lab Pro will NOT work in LrC v13.0. "When will this be fixed?" Adobe is aware of the issue and it has been escalated internally, so fingers crossed that it can be fixed soon. (This sort of thing has happened once before, and Adobe handled it very quickly). I will send out an update email when I can verify that this has been fixed, and it is safe to update LrC.
I love the "local" function in Lightroom but one important thing is still missing. I do not see any icon identifying which photo has been synchronised to the cloud. If I look at the thumbnails there is no information which photos have been synced. Please add it.
