AM4 FTW! AM4 will go down as one of the best platforms in modern PC history. The fact that AMD is still producing different variants of Ryzen 3 not only speaks volumes of AMDs commitment, but also shows you how highly popular AM4 still is.

ASUS B350f STRIX board ,1600, and 16GB 3000mhz ram in 2017. Upgraded to a 3800XT in 2021 nearly half price, it still goes for far more than I paid on Amazon. I upgraded my 3700X to the 5700X3D less than a month ago thinking it wouldn't be much of a difference paired with my RTX 3080 and boy was I wrong. Way better 1% lows and less CPU bottlenecked in certain games. My friend convinced me to get a 360 AIO as my 3700X was practically overheating in a 120mm AIO I was using. The 5800X3D/5700X3D are reasons to skip the DDR5 generation altogether. The AM4 platform will still be fine for years because of these CPU's, PCIe 4.0 is still very fast and AM4 motherboards still have all the additional features you need. We really are hitting the pinnacle of the PC platform and from now on it's going to be much smaller improvements until someone changes the platform in a major way.

Try setting it to 3600 mt/s without using xmp and all timings on auto or really loose primaries. Did you force geardown mode on and manually fiddling with procodt? Check SOC load line calibration too. If you can't get 3600 to work i'd just start dropping timings at 3200. FCLK ultimately is more important than higher ram speeds anyway (if the difference is great enough). Might be worth maxing that even if it's not 1:1 ratio with the ram.

The addition of being able to use PBO2 Curve Optimizer is amazing as well. I started with a Ryzen 5 1600 and stock cooler when Ryzen first launched, which I swapped for a 3600 and Wraith Prism. A couple weeks ago I got the 5700X3D, and the initial Cinebench test was a little too hot (touching 89C). At -15 with Curve Optimizer, temps never go above 60C while gaming, 75C with all-core workload on a cooler that many would consider substandard.

    AM4 is a beast of a platform.
i was on an extreme budget... but by a lucky sale of an Fx4300 legacy build + the sale of an Rx 570 8gb that i purchased really cheap one year before, i managed to buy a B350 mobo + 2 SSD (1x500gb nvme + 1x1TB SATA3) to pair with an R5 1600 i had purchased some time ago...
Long story short, i purchased a case, recicled an Rx 580 and a PSU from my previous main rig (an Fx8350 that lasted 8 years) and had 32gb DDR4 borrowed from a friend.
The build was good, i felt the improvement over the Fx...
But then a few months later i was able to upgrade from the R5 1600 to an R7 5700x... OH BOY... OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY...!!!!!!!! WHAT AN INSANE IMPROVEMENT. The step ahead was 5x more impresive than the jump from the Fx8350 to the R5 1600... after all, Fx8350 kind of traded blows with R5 1400... so the 1600 felt like an incremental step forward... but the R7 5700x seems like a huge step ahead, the singlecore performance and multitasking capabilitys feel so high end that i don't really care about DDR5 and new gen CPUs... the 5700x has every need covered for a long time...
5700x3d and 5800x3d should be kind of the same but better, nevertheless 5700x seems such a nice buy, the low TDP, afordable price and great performance makes it a no-brainer for any AM4 user, even with a cheap-o A320 mobo from 1st gen

I'm running a 5700X3D w/ 32gb DDR4 3800 in a B550 Mobo paired with an ASRock Phantom Gaming RX 7900XT. I game on a single 27" 1440p 180hz IGZO-IPS monitor with a FreeSync range of 40hz-165hz so I cap my FPS at 160 which I can hold in most of the games I play. I'm very happy with my build. I originally had some trouble with it but I figured it out. My Mobo BIOS was setting inadequate voltages (vSOC, VDDP, VDDG) when set to Auto. After tuning these I no longer have random reboots with no errors or blue screens, USB dropouts, audio popping, the infamous AMD/AM4 problems. I think these CPUs can be rather sensitive with these voltages and with most everyone leaving them on Auto I feel that is the cause for soo many of these reports.

Bryan, if you get the chance have a look at the Ryzen 9 5900X. In the UK it costs around the same as the 5700X 3D, but is better for productivity work due to it's 12 cores and 24 threads.
