    Small scar for the weight ...
    In 1989 I knew nothing about oils. I endup running Mobil 1 10w60 Racine oil for 12 thousand miles in a Honda XLX350R motorcycle. Then I sold it with this oil. The tech in the Dealer said to me I could run it for 20K. I sold the bike with the oil on it. The guy that bought it used that bike for several years after I sold ... I believe The esters keept the engine clean, no need to detergents...

    Hello and congratulations for the great content. I would like to ask you, for Kawasaki Z750 2nd generation, which oil do you recommend? Motul 300V, 300V2, 7100 and at which viscosity? Any other suggestion is most welcome. Thank you.

    • @edogsx
      @edogsx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello
      It depends on what use you make of the bike, for road use the 10w40 is fine, for track use 10w50.
      Motul 300v and 300v2 are racing oils and need to be changed often (no more than 3000km) motul 7100 is good for normal drain intervals.

      I did read a report by a guy who had his R1 with Motul 300V and he had a lab test the 300V oil in his motorcycle at 5,000 miles, and the oil was still brand new, and had not shown any sign of deteriorating, so I think it's safe to assume that the 300V lasts just as long as any other oil. But I could be wrong. In one series of tests I just watched, 7100 oil has more than double the amount of wear on metal in tests, so it causes twice as much engine damage. 300V seems to be one of the best oils. I've never actually used it yet.

    • @audiophilipp
      @audiophilipp 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ritaliethat is corect,by the tests it shows that 300v has the most protection and lasts a long! • @DarioAmedeoMartino
      @DarioAmedeoMartino 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@audiophilipp, a "racing" oil should have less detergents and dispersants. They help to reduce deposits and sludge. But lab analysis of 300V shows that it has large amount of calcium that acts as detergent. Why it's labeled racing? Only Motul knows...

      @edogsx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@hobbyclubofficial Simplifying, Motul 300V contains a large amount of Ester from vegetable origin, this base has excellent lubricating properties but with time, temperature and humidity, it can become acidic and potentially corrosive for the engine.
      Almost all Racing engine oils are not suitable for normal drainage intervals, they give better performance but need to be changed more often.
      I know technicians who replace it after every day on track, it depends of what use you make of your vehicle but I personally would not keep it in the engine for more than 2000/3000 km.
