- Another in a series on shore fishing in Southampton Water, Hampshire (UK).
This video covers 3 daytime sessions in May at Calshot Castle (filmed on 05.05.23, 10.05.23 and 28.05.23), fishing the furthest south of the western side of Southampton Water. The first session produced mainly dogfish; the second was a success with sizeable black bream and a large thornback ray being caught; but the third was difficult, with only two black bream to show for. On each occasion, I was targeting black bream, but also had larger fish in mind.

Many thanks again 👍
Top Angling again Mick..Looks like a very frustrating venue..Well done on the ray but you really don't need to travel that far south😅..I take my hat off to you with the jet skiers..
Thanks 👍 Yes - I need to spend some more time on the Crouch!
Hi Rod, just for your information in front of the castle there is an old submerged jetty which is why in the last part you lost 5 rigs, I also lost a few rigs there 😂
Thanks - the jetty remains are to the left of where I fished for the second and third sessions (exposed at low tide) and yes, people do lose gear on it if they aren't aware that it is there.
Nice watch, thanks Mick, do you take any fish home for the table ?
Thanks Ian. Yes - soles, plaice, bream and bass, if in size.
Nice video u every come up to north Norfolk or suffolk be4
I fish Suffolk venues quite a bit (though haven't the time to do so recently), but haven't fished Norfolk much - will do at some point - I like Cley.
do i need a license or permit to fish here in calshot?
You can join the club through the Activity Centre in order to fish from the jetty. Both £15 this year.
NO DOGS !
Makes a change!
Great videos mate.
Unpopular opinion time: It SHOULD be a crime to attempt to deny anglers access to the water's edge, I'm not talking about paying for a ticket on a privately owned pier, but to try and charge a membership fee to fish a beach is infuriating.
I fished here in March for three consecutive nights, didn't have any idea they were pulling this "scam", didn't have anyone even question me.
Surely a privately owned beach is the same as a privately owned pier or riverbank?
Excuse me , can I help Yooooooooooou ?
@@laurieharper1526 Maybe, I just don't think it should be, could site the old intertidal zone decree. We are so very densely populated on this little island of ours, with more restrictions on all of our lives, anywhere you can take a stand to hold back the tides of bureaucracy & prohibition.
@@johnsmith-rs2vk No thanks, I require no assistance.
