  • @TVinmyEye
    @TVinmyEye 8 ปีที่แล้ว +86

    The Genesis coupe is the jack of all trades master of none type of car. It doesn't necessarily excel at one specific category. Ive always thought of this car as something you buy when you want muscle car proportions but with import characteristics. The Genesis isnt the fastest but it's quick enough. it doesn't handle amazingly but its def capable, better than most muscle cars.

    • @seinfelb6851
      @seinfelb6851 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +TVinmyEye I've thought of it as what you get when you want a BRZ/FRS but you want something that's more comfortable, more of a cruiser that you don't have to beat the shit out of to get the most out of it. At least the 3.8, i've never driven the 2.0t but it's discontinued now anyway.

    • @letsroll2463
      @letsroll2463 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TVinmyEye it is the fastest v6 compared to the muscle v6 domestic cars and the fastest import compared to Japanese models except for the 370z which is way more expensive. They discontinued the 2.0T and brought down the v6 price instead.

    I've owned both a 2010 2.0t and a 2013 2.0t. Bought both new. I daily drive a 2018 hellcat widebody challenger (ordered new, waited 8mos, traded in my 2013 gencoupe). I'd still buy my old car back if it had under 30k miles. The Genesis coupe was a special car. I had a KN airbox for turbo sound, carbon fiber and mesh vents to replace the fake hood vents, and Motegi MR126 wheels with nitto neogens to make it a scalpel on turns. I could of got an aftermarket downpipe and catback but honestly I was having too much fun with it before I was introduced to american muscle and the hemis. These days you can find them cheap and I really want my second car to be one of the second gen 2.0Ts

    Definitely enjoy your reviews. What I note is that you remain consistent with the videos. You changed your intro, which was good, because it showed much of your consistency throughout many of your shots. For example, little things like, always standing on the left side of the car when you introduce it, starting the review before the bass drop in the song, the setup of the review, all very consistent. Keep it up. Hope to see more reviews.

    It's a nice car. I got the 3.8 track Manuel with everything in it. U have to get this version to make it a premium genesis coupe. But it's more costly. I like the look and feel. I was gonna get mustang. Maybe get mustang Shelby later on.

  • @maximus9401

    This is a decent car, but it's not the best representation of what this car can be.
    This is an automatic, base trim (without the sports package) 2.0T.
    If this was a manual R-spec or Track trim (includes sports package), with the V6 engine, it would be even better.
    The reason it feels so good is probably because it has a stage 1 flash with maybe some suspension upgrades

    Great review. But there are a few corrections, The GC has an alternate trim model called the R-Spec. This is one is set apart from the other trims with a few differences, those being:
    -Large Brembo brakes
    -Key start (no key less available)
    -Stock spoiler
    -Larger rim size
    -More aggressively tuned suspension
    -LSD
    -Only comes manual
    -Large bolster seats (really hugs you)
    Just wanted to put that out there, I love my 2014 Rspec, why people have so much hate for it I will never understand, the most enjoyable car I've ever driven.

  • @eyros2k
    @eyros2k 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The space the Genesis coupe occupies is such a peculiar one in the current landscape... it straddles the fence of different sub-genre within 'sport coupe', especially when considering both engine options. The 2.0T is most often compared to the FR-S/BRZ, despite being larger and more powerful I think it's the price point and engine displacement that thrust it into that scope. The 3.8 lands square against the likes of the 370Z, with everyone quick to point out the 280lb curb weight difference whilst usually ignoring their identical 10lbs per horsepower ratio as well as the price differences when comparably equipped.
    Brand stigma is still very much in effect too, for whatever reason. While Hyundai/KIA take mainstream market segments by storm - forcing the entire industry to restructure and remodel in attempts to match the value these Korean brands offer at any given price point - many enthusiasts still manage to look past it all. Very peculiar, indeed.

    • @CAyou

      MrGovenator1 It could change the feeling of how fast the car goes a lot and some other "mods" can lighter the car, which can change the driving experience. I'm not saying that it will ruin everything, but as a "car tester", he should (when it's possible) drives only stock cars.

    • @MattMaranMotoring

      subaruwrxfan Yeah sure, it's not the first time he tested a modded car (remember fiat 500?), it's not about the mod itself but more the fact that a car reviewer should only test stock car. Or he should create a special category of modded car reviews.

    First gen wasn't a bad looking car, but this second gen IMHO is very ugly. The back looks much cleaner but the front has to go. I'd still buy the first gen just for the looks alone. At the end of the day, as long as the owner enjoys the car, none of these comments matter. I would prefer a proper 6 speed manual (I would in any car actually), but I suppose its not for everyone (insert "sucks in traffic" and "wife/GF can't drive stick" arguments here). Great review nonetheless and I do love the color, along with the interior being better than the first gen GC !!

    • @webhostingmaster
      @webhostingmaster 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd prefer if my wife/gf couldn't drive my car. They will always find a way to ruin MPG.

    • @647killa
      @647killa 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      andrew cook really? thats the first time i've heard such an absurd reasoning, unless of course you are joking. MPG?

    • @webhostingmaster
      @webhostingmaster 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      647killa how is it absurd? I like saving money anywhere I can and I find getting high MPG fun and challenging. Going fast takes 0 skill, just floor it and wait to get to speed, brake hard and turn at 20 MPH like everybody else. I'm not saying sporty driving is bad, I just think that it is boring on the streets.
      Like I said, everybody else who has driven my car has ruined my tank by 2 MPG (tracked), so I'd prefer it if no one drives my car but me. But I have an automatic, so I just have to deal with it :(

    • @647killa
      @647killa 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      andrew cook Well I see your point, but we are talking about a sportscar in this video, which would lead to sporty driving. I'm sure daily MPGs matter when you are just shuffling about from work to home etc in a regular car. A manual transmission would come in handy, cuz then no one else will drive your car, unless they learn, but then it would be everyone enjoying the car too much....hmm !! Well, hey if MPGs matter more to you, then thats a totally different look on cars. I, for one, don't waste my money but I also drive my cars the way they are meant to be driven on road and track. I don't think MPGs when i buy a car like the above, unless we are talking about Navigators and Escalades.

    • @webhostingmaster
      @webhostingmaster 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      647killa I think MPGs should always be a consideration when making a purchase of a DD. If I want a sports car, I'd spend the money I saved from driving economically and buy an S2000 or Miata and have a blast with that, but for something that I'd drive daily (like a Hyundai) then MPGs are my main focus
