Future Should Learn from Past - Manu Pillai | Historian & Author | At Algebra Conversations.

  • A young, hyper-talented storyteller whose first book won him the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2017, and whose knack for bringing alive the past is winning him acclaim all over the country.
Manu Pillai may have an entirely Macaulayesque education - including at the celebrated King’s College in London and Fergusson College in Pune - but his passion for the little-known story and an exceptional eye for the hidden historical detail along with a penchant for revealing - and often undiscovered - anecdotes makes him a force to watch, a historian who is as gripping a storyteller as he is a devoted researcher.
In a candid conversation with this articulate young historian and author, we talk on what the future can learn from the past, whether history is more fiction than fact, and the dangers of forgetting in Past Forward.

Manu... people like you should be aired on radio, brought to schools for guest lectures, to colleges so that the coming generation and the contemporary generation can rise from the venomous discrimination being instilled in them.

Manu basically is a Gem of a person.. Do not carry any baggages from the Past and his international exposure.. positions him in a perfect vantage point to observe, analyse, introspect and write... More Great things are expected from you.. Age has NO bearing at all in what you do.. This country has unnecessary kept AGE as an entry barrier for many productive things..

So if you want to end caste stop putting casteist lens on everything & end caste specific laws. Highlighting an identity by using legislation only helps in elevating the barriers around identities & never resolves them.

Those who do not learn from their expriences, they rather repeat the same deep mistake what power obsessed people acted upon blinly from history books. Those who close their eyes on the pain of others the very around himself indeed he learns nothing.

This guy has spoken about some practice followed by ruling class and landlords, to uphold their superiority in public. This are not very important topics for historic studies. These are misdeeds patronised by many small kings and their courtesans. I mean it has nothing to do with our Vedic tradition and practice.
Some are Merrily drawing parrels to the present government.
Don't get swayed by the misdeeds of some so called royal families, as our sanatan tradition.
If you dig up there are numerous stories of atrocities, are they of any value, as a study material in mainstream history books, is not advisable.
