  • In this long-form discussion with an audience of young readers and educators, historian and author Yuval Noah Harari explores the stories that have built and united humankind over tens of thousands of years.
    Drawing from the words and illustrations in his new children’s book, ‘Unstoppable Us: How Humans Took Over the World’, Harari decodes the big stories of today (nations, money, gender roles, religion) to empower young readers to question our shared history and change the future.

    Filmed on May 16 2023 in Madrid, Spain and produced by BBVA for the broadcast program ‘Aprendemos Juntos’ (“Learning Together”).

      I do and it showed me that we all hate each other and we think how bad we are and we dont live by love, hope and faith. Also insted of helping and work with one another we compete and extinct one another exactly like in the story crazy yuval told at the beginning of his talk. We became a real humans only after we returned to God way of living. And I am talking Catholic way of thinking about God and human and the world. Since this is the only way which teach as compassion, love of others and hope through the love of God insted if force and killings and viewing others as a lower class or even as animals. There is just two forces in the world good and bad which are represented by God and by evil. Same as a night and day ect. World is based on opposites because we got a free will to choose. If we were only given a “good” way and “good” especially in today human view could be very questionable we would live oppressed and miserable prison like life. This man has an obsession and he thinks he can fix the world so we can say he thinks about himself as a god but there were many like him before and it always ended very bad for the world when another human being is trying to “fix” the world.

    Fantastic quote: "The ability to admit I don't know takes honesty and courage. The first step to knowledge is to admit that I don't know..if you pretend that you know then you'll never learn anything new."

    • @centaur7607
      @centaur7607 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And the rest of the quote is brilliant too! "the big scientific revolution which launched modern science was a discovery of ignorance. For thousands of years people thought they knew everything. That some holy book or some holy person knew everything. ... And science began when some humans admitted that we don't know everything. There is no book in the world that knows all the answers. There is no person in the world that knows everything. And now that we have the courage and honesty to admit we don't know everything, we can start investigating. And that's science."

      You don't have to pretend you don't know. If you meet a bona-fide spiritual master, and learn about Krishna through Bhagavad-gita you can begin to know. Because Yuval is an arrogant atheist and does not know does not mean that the rest of us have to remain in ignorance.

    • @centaur7607
      @centaur7607 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@gauradas108 In the U.S. almost no one knows anything about that book. I've never read it. No one ever even talked about it. I learned about it's existence in college, but I didn't learn much. The book that we're told since childhood to follow is typically the Christian Holy Bible. We're typically all shipped off to churches every week to learn lessons about it. How would you feel if someone told you that the real lessons are in the Holy Bible and that all truth, love, and wisdom is with Jesus Christ? It's being told to people every single day, probably thousands of times per day, by people who claim to be certain that this is truth. Often they threaten that you'll find out in the afterlife if you refuse to believe them now. Do these people know?

    Social media, if used for the good of humanity and all other animals, can enable us all to collaborate to find ways to make our planet a comfortable home. Let's use social media to solve our problems rather than create division among us.

    Absolutely phenomenal! I just love that Yuval wrote this book for principally young children, preteens. Their lives will be most affected by the 3 threats to humanity that he described, but also they have the most power to change those threats (because they don't know the "limiting stories" that adults have already inculcated). Bravo! He is a superlative thinker, and communicator.

    Dear Sir Youval Noah Harari ... I find you so interesting to listen to.
    I recently heard you comment on another talk show about the Ten Commandments and the term slave. I thought you may find it interesting to know that at that time in history there was not a word for employee. That was a time there was no grocery stores or hospitals or police or emergency aid. There were competent me who cared for women and children for food and shelter. The world was in it's infancy in developing. A man may have to be responsible to care for his wife and other wives and children and even his employees/slaves.
    You are a very wise man Youval Noah Harari but you don't seem to understand these stories very well. You are smart and reason out things if you lived in that time how you would think and feel but this is a different time and people did not think like we do now.
    The stories you speak of are incredible believable and are worth searching into and meditating on carefully and deeply to really understand what you are actually beholding.

      Great man?! You do know that he thinks human rights are just a fiction, right? You have read his book, SAPIENS, where he says over and over in just the first 8 chapters (that's as far as I could get, I had to return it to the library) that human rights don't exist, right? So you're okay with that?
