I don't think I mentioned how very good I am at this game either. Something about the combination of drafting, area control and push your luck combat just fits with me perfectly and i utterly stomp at this game. Good times!
I've heard people say this one is a luckfest and i couldn't disagree more, its about risk management, either that or im just very very very lucky every time i play it ;)
@@3MBGyou jest but there are people that are consistently incredibly lucky. I don't know anything about this game, so no clue if that can be the case here, but there are people that are consistently lucky and also some that are consistently unlucky.
I own this one and have played many times, but have yet to work out any sort of decent strategy for it. I usually win about 25% of the time at four players…. I see you got the retail version of the game. I can highly recommend getting some coin capsules for the tokens. Makes the game so much more tactile.
Manny's art is immediately identifiable and a style I really enjoy. Looks fantastic! Haven't played enough bag builders to have a properly informed opinion but I definitely found adding coin capsules for the arkham horror bag pulls was an upgrade. Made it all feel a bit better "shuffled"
I purchased and have hidden a deluxe edition of this game in the house for my wife this Christmas. She will be stoked! This game looks beautiful and has so many mechanics we love from other games.
We love Wonderlands War in our house. We got the deluxe edition with ceramic chips that feel so nice in the bag. The click clack is very satisfying. It also came with miniatures for all the standees and I painted them all up, so the game looks fantastic. My eldest son is nigh unstoppable when he plays the Red Queen. I'm a staunch Alice player but I've only won with her once. The play-time written on the box is a blatant lie, however.
The setup on this one takes a long time and it’s a bit of a table hog, but I still love it. Some games can run long but they never *feel* long to me as we are having so much fun. It’s exciting when you have 3-4 people all in the battle for a territory.
@@bobavettgerkin Yeah I have the deluxe version but I am considering using the bags for each player’s components. The insert is really nice but not great for setup.
I got full in this one, deluxe edition, deluxe tokens (which are sold separately in my country). If you don’t paint deluxe édition miniatures, the standies are actually an upgrade. Deluxe tokens like on quacks, really double pleasure + the tray is great. Incomparable to coins capsule Maybe geekbits will release also some.
I use a site called board game oracle to find who has games in stock. In this case though, i got it at a flash sale for a company called EB games, who are 99% video game stuff
Draft is all done, something like 49k words, manuscript has passed the first round of checks and is now with the copy editor. I've also done all the photos for the book too!
The initial version needed some tweaking since the Hatter was so strong and Jabber was relatively weak. But with the new printings this is apparently fixed though I have yet to confirm.
@@3MBG I'm really glad you mentioned it (of course I posted before I saw that part... doh!) . I just haven't seen if the new printings had fixed all of the issues I had previously experienced.
The latest printings have the updated Hatter and Jabberwocky. In the last kickstarter you could get the new expansion along with just the two updated boards as well if you had an earlier printing.
I felt like drafting bag building area control and levelling up was just TOO MANY THINGS. Some clever sod will probably strip it down and set it in medieval Italy. And you know, that’s fine.

The timing of this is incredible... this past week I've been looking into this game
Glad to have been of service
We do love this game, so glad you were able to produce a 3 minute review.
If you have a 3d printer (and the KS edition) there is a really good bottom insert replacement that helps with setup and teardown.

I am somewhat jelly of you right now, id love to track down that version with the nice chips.

May I ask where you both found copies I have been looking for a while with no success
@@BlueTorchWeddings I got my copy from their Kickstarter with the expansion.

They are doing a new kcickstarter soon so it should be due a reprint
I played once, about a year ago. It was a damn delight. It's just a matter of all the other great games.

I highly recommend the small expansion they came out with. It makes the game more interesting and does more with the shards. And it's cheap.
Can anyone find this game anywhere? I've never seen it anywhere... 😢

My friends and I love this game, but I typically go bust regularly
Ha, any reason?

I think thats fair to say about any unplayed game

Correct, which is why i mention that explicitly in the video

Yeah, its a bit busy. But it all feels compartmentalized in its own way
@@3MBG I guess that’s good, yeah.
Well, there’s already Orleans, but that’s medieval France instead of Italy.
