I had a similar run to this recently, started as a flower pot/seeing double run using wild cards. became a triboulet, blueprint, brainstorm, idol, ancient joker, sock & buskin on wild/polychrome/redseal queens to always get the ancient joker and idol hits.
What an insane run. Totally thrown by that call at 1:06:20

Am i just trash or am i wrong because idk. Wouldnt copying your retriggers be better than copying buffs? If u copy bloodestone it give another bloodstone, but if u copy hack it gives another bloodstone (basically) and gives your other jokera and the cards bonus effect. Just typing this cause i heard ya say copying bloodstone. If you already know this thanks for reading.
Its a weird one, but no you score more copying the bloodstone, but if you have more than one I think you score more by copying both the re trigger and bloodstone, might be wrong though
It’s some wonky math. Effectively, you can group the mults and triggers into two separate categories. In this run, glass, polychrome, bloodstone, and idol (and any blueprint/brainstorm copying) are the mults and hack + copies are the retriggers. Also it’s worth noting that just playing the cards is 1 trigger and red seal makes that 2. Effectively, it is ideal to have an equal amount of mults and triggers for maximizing score. If you wanted to write it out as an equation for each card it would be: ((mults)^triggers)^number of cards
From there you can generalize the mults all to 2 and solve for the largest value where you have say 10 possible instances of mults vs triggers:
((2^(10-x)mults)^x triggers
And then you can solve to find the greatest value is when x is 5 and the number of mults and triggers is the same.
In practice, that means if you have glass and polychrome red seal cards, and somehow an idol and a hack with 2 blue prints and 2 brainstorms, you should split the copies up evenly between idol and hack.
TLDR:
Math says split them up evenly for nearly the same reason as plasma deck increasing score by meeting chips and mult in the middle
In a bloodstone highroll scenario, math says retrigger has more potential in this scenario. Otherwise? I agree
“We don’t need to take that risk yet” (in regards to Invisible Joker) do keep in mind that while it might not be necessary yet, if you wait too long it would instead not be possible (because the pivot would cost too much) so doing it early when it’s less risky (you can survive failing the roll) is usually the better play

You said the best way to get better was to point out tiny, technical misplays, so at 17:50, you should have played 4 of a kind. The debuffed 5 didn't add to the score, and 4oak actually had higher base score than 5oak. Unlocking planet x also dilutes your planet pool unnecessary. /S
In all honesty though, great run! Noting the boss blind and pivoting around it was genuinely very impressive.
Much to the same point, I’m pretty sure he could be doing better by using tarot card packs as opportunities to use the tarots bought in the shop, creating space to buy more. Technical nit picks

Hey :) I'm wondering here, what's the point of copying the idol over the hack? Since any retrigger would proc said idol with bonus chips, golds, and glass. I'm probably missing something here.

With polychromes and two blood stones all your clone jokers should be on hack. I’m pretty certain this makes two blood stones better than one and an oops, but otherwise two stones is strictly worse.

All the jokers that copy jokers should not show in your shop until you have either another joker in possession or if you have enough money. I hate first Joker being blueprint, and then I can't afford it. (If this has already been updated in the new patch, I'd love to know)

@@qwerty-yc yeah, in 1.0.1e, they made bloodstone give 1.5x multi instead of 2x. You might be thinking about 1.0.1c, where bloodstone had a 50% chance to trigger, and gave 2x multi. Now it gives 1.5x and has a 50% chance to trigger.

It helps me to visualize my chip jokers as multipliers. If I’m scoring 50 chips on a hand and I have a joker that gives me an extra 100 chips, that’s effectively a 3x multiplier. But as your hand level increases, those extra chips will become a smaller and smaller multiplier because you’re getting more base chips. Once you see multiplier jokers that offer more than that chip increase multiplier, it makes more sense to replace them to boost your score.
It’s also good to note that for the plasma deck specifically, you should pick whichever combination gives the highest *number*, regardless of chips or mult. For example, +100 chips on a 50 chip hand is a x3, and you may come across a joker that gives x4 mult. But if you have like 12 mult, that only equates to +36, which for plasma deck is worse because the numbers are averaged out. For all other decks, you want to take the one with the higher *multiplier* (x4 over +100), plasma deck is just a little unintuitive in that way.
@@nuggetoftruth865 also, for plasma, you want to keep a ratio of at least 5.8 to 1. It's a little weird but the math works out so that, because plasma doubles the blind requirements, that for your square effect to actually be worth it, you need to be averaging out a number 5.8 (basically just round to 6) times higher than your smaller number. So 60 chips to 10 mult (which averages to 35 squared) for a blind most decks would only need 30 chips and 10 mult to beat.
There's a Reddit post that explains it better, but 5.8 ratio essentially solves the square in reverse order.
I think my favorite moments are when he hovers over the worst possible joker for his run and hovers over it, smiling. I can hear him thinking "It would be so funny if I just fucked up my run right now"

I could easily be wrong about this but I got curious about whether the joker positioning at around 1:30:00 would be optimal or not. I drew it out in MS paint and my result was this:
Firstly T means trigger of a card and 2m means a 2xmult when a card is played
With blueprint hack idol bloodstone bloodstone chad and brainstorm
5T+5T+5T+2T+5T = 22 triggers (the cards, blueprint, hack, chad, brainstorm)
2m*2m*2m = 2m^3 (glass card, idol, bloodstone (averaged out 2 50/50s to give 1 trigger))
22 * 2m^3 = 2m^66
With idol blueprint hack bloodstrone bloodstone chad and brainstorm
5T+5T+5T+2T = 17 triggers (the cards, blueprint, hack, chad)
2m*2m*2m*2m = 2^4 (glass card, idol, bloodstone, brainstorm)
17 * 2m^4 = 2m^68
Conclusion 1)
The reason why Roffle came to the conclusion that they were equal is probably down to noise from bloodstone. With a different of only 2 2x mults that is only 2 triggers of bloodstone.
Conclusion 2)
It doesn't *matter*. A difference that small is only a 4x mult and does not outpace the blind scaling.

It's called the Plasma Deck. It's unlockable by beating Blue Stake difficulty in the base game

Hey mate! Can you please play that seed for me -5TQW8PTT and try to brake it (Take at ante 1 double tag, and u will get the baron at 1st shop. Then u need the 6th sense to make the 1st copy of baron - the 2nd destroyed 6 will five ANKH) Its your turn buddy! Thats my best unseeded run so far to ante 18. Originaly its palyed with the spectral deck and i reached 5 barons with 3 mimes (some were copy jokers). I did a lot of mistakes, and my biggest mistake was i start doing steel kings too late. At the end i died because of the boss, not cause i cant make the points. After that i tryed it with other decks but never passed the 5th ante :D . And to anybody out there: Do some of you guys, know where that clown from balatro lives? I'm asking for a friend of mine!

A single bloodstone is x1.5 per trigger on average. A bloodstone + sixes is x2 per trigger, so 2 bloodstones should be better on average. With the amount of retriggers it should be reliable enough.
Thats not exactly how it works, sure on average it’s a 1.5, but it is only in increments of x2. So your getting x2 all the time, or 1/4 of the time x1, 1/2 the time x2 or another 1/4 the time x4, so to put it as an average would not paint the entire picture

Oops all sixes and Bloodstone is not the same as 2x Bloodstone. I’m too lazy to explain but think about the maximum mult generated. For example, both bloodstone all trigger (which is unlikely) will be much better than a single bloodstone triggering on every card. First option is less variance but less potential, second option is more potential but much more variable.
he keeps saying the number of glass cards doesn’t matter but it did end up mattering he ended up with remaining hands that could’ve hit the blind but an empty deck

Might have been worth sticking with the Lucky Cards, and the All 6s. Since you're more likely to get the x20.
Plus, the double bloodstone with the Oops All 6s (if my assumption is correct) would have meant each heart gives a x4 mult when played. (Since each bloodstone would proc off because of the 6s)
Interesting maths thing about Double Bloodstone vs Bloodstone + Oops All Sixes, that I went down a rabbit hole on from you saying they're basically equivalent. (Which is true in the way you meant it but also not really true.)
Though the expected value of the number of triggers is the same, the expected value of the multiplier you get is not the same.
Expected number of triggers is the number of cards, either way. (1/2 chance of a trigger 2 times per card, vs 1 trigger every card.)
The Expected net multiplier however, is higher, because the variation of 1 less trigger halves the contribution to the expected value (-1/2), while variation of 1 more trigger doubles the contribution to the expected value (+1), and adding those together, is still +1/2.
This sounds like maths bullshit... and it kinda is. It works out this way because a random number of doublings has a tail to really high values from very large numbers of lucky hits. And it shows up and it twists the expected value so heavily because expected values as a tool kind of assume linearity, when this is instead multiplicative.
If you instead take the expected value of the log of the multiplier (in base 2), or the median expected multiplier, you'll get the expected number of triggers.
(This is also the same reason that the Mean income is a lot higher than the Median income. Because there's a small number of people with mind-bogglingly absurd incomes.)
Double Bloodstone has the same Median result as Bloodstone + Oops, but the potential for it to high-roll into another few order of magnitudes higher is *potentially* better, as though you have the chance to whiff on a hand, you'll also have the chance to do the reverse, and get an extra order of magnitude or two that actually gets you past a blind you otherwise shouldn't.
This also reflects in the Expected Value being higher, because if you take multiple samples, by playing multiple hands with double bloodstone, you'll end up with a higher score than with Bloodstone + Oops, as 3x the median is only 3x the median, while the total for double bloodstone is basically going to be the highest of those three rolls, something like an extra 3-5 hits above the average, for x8 or x32.
I don't think Dusk is better than Chad. In your case, you have 4 hands, which with Chad is 8 retriggers. Dusk only gets you 5 (the number of cards played). Admittedly, it gets you that one monster last hand, but I have found that relying on that is dicey.

Two reasons. The first time it was because it was a club when he was going for a flush five build. The second time, when he had the polychrome as a wildcard, he already had a glass 5 of hearts which let him keep the econ from gold seal and also the 2x mult from glass over the 1.5x alone.

@@edwinlam4679 Yes I'm aware, objectively a polychrome glass is better than a glass. Roffle's main concern was not score though, it was the gold seal and there was no guarantee that he would find another gold seal.

i really dont understand that switch from chad to dusk. i know that the dusk does retrigger but it is the last hand and at the point in the run he was no where near on his last hand. a seltzer over chad sure i can get behind but the dusk always feels way too soon.
My understanding is that it's insurance over unlucky RNG
If you can't find dusk when you need it then your run is dead (near guaranteed) at that point
So making sure you have dusk for if you need it is good insurance against not finding it when you're rerolling the shop for it

That's not true though. It's generally best to have a balance between retriggering and multiplying jokers in these situations. There are several comments on this video that thoroughly explain the math.

Your way: You're duping 1 totem and 1 hack
Per card, you'd get 4 triggers (base, hack, copy hack, red seal), so 8 totems and 8 bloodstones.
My way: 5 triggers, so 5 totems and 10 bloodstonesYour way may seem more viable like this, right? However, you're missing on one teensy, bitsy, little detail: Glass and polycrome. The extra trigger gives you a extra 2 times and 1.5 times (alongside the card's own chips, but that's not really important tbh), so it's as if you had 6.5 totems for my method.
Due to probability, you get LESS on average, but if you high roll, it could have saved your run for one or two more blinds
I'm not sure if you already knew this, but you can right click to deselect all of your cards at once.

@@ramennoodle9918 I see where you're coming from, I thought that myself, however no. Let's say that Roffle only had the Hanging Chad. If I'm not mistaken, the first card played retriggers 3 separate times. Thus, three separate retriggers have to be accounted for. Two of them are just the first card. Because each fifth counts for a card, saying that the two retriggers of the first cards counts as two fifths doesn't make sense.

You need retriggers on glass/poly to get most insane scores, only 2-5 and face cards have mass retriggers available

Having the invisible joker hit bloodstone is not a failure. It just makes it a bit more random but on average its the same as oops all 6 (minus the chance of breaking glass) with a downside of possible smaller score but upside of possible larger score (1x100% chance to hit x2 or 2x50% chance to hit x2, means 25% for x0, 50% for x2 and 25% for x4. So 75% chance of same or better score and 25% for smaller score)
Loaded over total score of 5 cards with multiple options its roughly equal score. While some of the other hits would improve the total score
with 3 great hits (idol, blueprint and brainstorm)
2 decent ones (hack and bloodstone)
and 1 poor one (Hanging Chad)
Id say its a pretty good joker to try
