I never thought this deck was for me.....but, this walk through has changed my mind. The lushness, the details, the different cultures.....this seems like a Baba Studios deck to me. I'm going right now to Amazon and buy it! Thank you!
My deck is very heavily gilded and the card stock is very thick. I cannot riffle shuffle them at all. I didn't like it when I first got it and shelved it for about four years. In January, I got it out to use, and it read beautifully for me. Wish I hadn't made such a rush judgement on it at first. Or else I am just in another mind space, now.
I love this deck, bought it years ago, made it a really nice bag and reading cloth then stuck it away, pulled it out and did my first past life reading for myself and was shocked at how amazing it is. Its beautiful.
I bought mine in early 2016 and being a newbie was overwhelmed by it and didn’t really use it much then I started to appreciate the depth and esoteric value so much that it became my only companion on our ten month backpack of Europe in 2019. I still struggle to shuffle it some days not liking the thick gilded card stock, the deck is starting to look a bit tatty after so much use and I do prefer a slightly glossier coating such as my other favorite deck the Millennium Thoth so I’m considering getting the smaller thinner version to take it’s place. Thanks for the revue. 🌱
What funny timing with this video. When I was at NWTS, somebody dropped this on the exchange table. I picked it up and gave it to my friend, because she likes things about the Illuminati. After flipping through it, I found I liked it better than I thought I did or would. And now seeing this, I do kind of like it. Thanks for sharing it! ❤️ I might be adding this to my list for consideration. 😉
Thanks so much for showing this edition. I have the "gilded" one and it was impossible to separate the cards without defects. One reason I don`t use the deck and they are always glued. Now I saw your new edition and ordered it same day. Happy to have the cards now, borderless and smooth. Without your video I had never find out, that there is THIS great version.
I’m Loving the borderless edition. Ooh the Empress is reminding me of The Queen of Hearts from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. It’s a cool deck and one to add to my wishlist. Thanks for this thorough walkthrough Simon.
The guilding is wearing thin on my deck. I also think my card stock is a little thinner. The guilded deck is borderless and the images identical to yours. I love this deck, I find my readings are uncannily accurate with this deck. My deck lives in a wooden box on my alter and goes with me to all my public reading venues and events. Most, if not all, of the querents I use this deck with comment on the decks beauty.
@@the_hermits_cave I am looking forward to that. I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I was not a Thoth fan. Then working through Mary K Greer's book 'Tarot for Yourself' was a lightbulb moment for me. With Crowley's reputation, I felt like I needed to ward the decks off with a crucifix and a gallon of Holy Water 😂 But seeing them put tonuse in the manner that Mary does, made me look at them so differently 👍 I do hope you like them 😀
This is one of my favorite favorite decks to work with and read with and it is very spot on! My deck came gilded in gold and I got in 2017 off of Amazon. I’m glad you got this one. Do you have a video about decks that are very similar to the art of the RWS deck like this one? I like to see others take on Ms. Smiths art!!
Hi Simon, My deck is guilded and I have used them a heck of a lot over the past 4 or 5 years that the guilding is wearing off. I have the 'big' book and personally, I would totally recommend it. I like the book you demonstrated and may order that myself. Enjoy the new deck and thank you for sharing xxx
Love this deck I got mine back in 2018 I think , it is gilded and borderless and the card stock is good, definitely a lot going on in them, I tend to use it to read for myself rather than clients because of the busy images , they are very 'stained glass window' :)
SIMON I think I purchased my Tarot Illuminati about 4 years ago and you are right it came Gold edged and borderless too, I also went and bought the book for this Deck , its Wonderful you'll Love it. Definitely going to look into this New RWS BOOK, now on my Wish List Hugs 🥰❤
Just went to my old AMAZON orders, The Tarot Illuminati with Gold edging was order back in 2014 and book 2015. I also had purchased a while back the small standard version not to ruin the Gold on my other BEAUTIFUL Deck 🥰❤
Thanks Simon as always guidance, 👍🏼👍🏼, I have both gilded and with out gilded, when I buy first time it was not gilded then I was so sad to see that , then I find somewhere still old stock with gilding so I buy agian, but I edge other one with gold , and it’s looks amazing 🤩❤️🤘🏼
A tarot reader at a local metaphysical shop uses the Tarot Illuminati, and he said it was his favorite. He talked about in a video a few days ago, and now you did a video about it too. What an interesting coincidence.
They were gilded, then they changed it. Amazon even listed they old ISBN# on they page. When I ordered a second copy it came without the gilding, everything else was the same. My first one is gilded and spectacular.
I've always loved looking at this deck, but dont think I'd ever get it for myself. Some of the cards are amazing though and I love them, like the King of Cups.
I have an edition from 2015. It’s borderless and gilded. I almost passed it on at one point. Glad now I didn’t as it’s now published without the gilding so to me harder to replace should I have changed my mind as I do from time to time. This is why I box them up to think on before making a permanent decision and giving them away.
I looove this deck! It's been my favorite since it was released and is what I work with exclusively. The cardstock on the kit version is a bit thick which makes riffle shuffling difficult. As a result I sent to Italy to get copies of the standard deck before it was released in the US.
I'm still watching your walkthrough. All my kit copies are gilded. Perhaps the cardstock is now not quite so thick. I do prefer borderless, so I may have to get a newer kit version.
This is a «too much» deck. Too much color, too much symbols, gloss, brightness....almost shocking, but sometimes it really works (in a spread with few cards, I think).
my favourite reader @Archangel Guidance uses Tarot Illuminati as one of her main decks...although the deck she uses is *much* thicker card stock, and dimensions are size of most oracle decks. Guide book is larger too- similar to a magazine shape/size. Maybe it was purchased as first or limited edition.
I never thought this deck was for me.....but, this walk through has changed my mind. The lushness, the details, the different cultures.....this seems like a Baba Studios deck to me. I'm going right now to Amazon and buy it! Thank you!
Enjoy! Thanks for watching

Rob Ferguson Sometimes that happens, I was the same a few years back with the Mary El

I just wish they hadn’t removed the lovely gold gilding.
The Hermit’s Cave Yeah, I feel like I remember seeing that before, also!

You’re welcome. Enjoy! 😉
AN OLDIE BUT GOLDIE : ) LIKE THIS BETTER THAN THE APOCKALIPSIS TAROT WHICH HAS NO GILDING.
Love it borderless. Definitely a lovely deck 💖 the 3 of swords sold it to me.
I’m Loving the borderless edition.

@@the_hermits_cave oohh That is really good to hear, now I have to ask if I am a good or bad influence 😂😂
Elaine Murphy I’ll let you know for sure after the Thoth deck arrives later today! 😆

That really is a beautiful deck! I love your channel and your walkthroughs. Thank you for mentioning the RWS book!!! I might have to buy that!
Queen Of Owls You’re welcome. Just started it and it’s a great read.
Simon, I literally just received this deck, opened it, and said, “Dang, these aren’t gilded!” I was very sad about it 😢
It makes no sense for them to have changed them.
The second box had a different ISBN# so the company updated the box but a lot of websites still have the old ISBN#.

My deck is Guilded as well
So glad I was able to buy 2 copies of the borderless gilded version and book a few years ago. The gilded deck has really thick cardstock which I like.

Fabulous walkthrough as always 😊 I was really annoyed when I got mine they that aren’t gold gilded anymore 😞
Science to Soul Tarot with Jen What a shame. I wonder why?

Somewhere In Time Tarot I wish it was still glided
Thanks Simon as always guidance, 👍🏼👍🏼, I have both gilded and with out gilded, when I buy first time it was not gilded then I was so sad to see that , then I find somewhere still old stock with gilding so I buy agian, but I edge other one with gold , and it’s looks amazing 🤩❤️🤘🏼
This is my soul deck. Mine is borderless guilded
Hi Simon, I am new to your channel and I am loving it. You are a true inspiration. Thank you for your time and effort you put into the videos.
Welcome Karen and thank you for the kind words. I hope you enjoy being here 🙏🏼♥️
@@the_hermits_cave Thank-you I certainly am...the tarot fever has begun. Lol
Karen Rose Kobylka Careful.... it’s a slippery slope!
@@the_hermits_cave well I had one deck until I found your channel. Lol

BTW, the artist put himself on the 5 of Cups.
The kit deck has always been borderless. 😉
Interesting to know!
Do you know how one can get a gilded copy?
I never did purchase this deck. I have the Apocalyptic tarot though. Its sister deck. I wonder how this one will read for me? Great review.😊
I think I prefer this one to Apocalypsis
Theresa might better be recognized as co-author of Tarot For Troubled Times- published after this.
Brian Gryphon I’m not sure what this relates to?
@@the_hermits_cave Theresa Reed's back cover blurb.
Brian Gryphon Ah I see, of course.... the book! Doh, sorry 😐

It’s certainly OTT
so glad you brought this deck out today; was one of my earlier decks and love it; have the book on my Kindle
