    Check out the new apartment makeover: • Small Apartment Decora...
    My boyfriend Joe newly rented a small studio apartment in Hong Kong. It was tiny and pale...
    But we did a makeover and now it transformed into a little cozy home! To clarify, this flat is only for one person.
    We were on a budget and the total cost was under 300 USD.
    Go check the video to see the "before and after" transformation. Tell me what you think and your suggestions to make it better!

    Why are there people with critical and negative comments here? I mean I am very late to the party so I doubt anyone will see this but a "good job" goes a long way than not needed and negative criticism. I see that they have already moved out of this place but I think they did a lovely job. I have been living in studios for the last 5 years and it is quite hard to decorate the place on a budget, ESPECIALLY if it is temporary. Why didn't you get a foldable table type of questions are funny to me, uhm because they are expensive?? I see a million "Studio Makeover!!" videos on TH-cam all the time, especially by people from the USA and they are honestly not realistic for many people from the rest of the world. I think this video and the studio makeover is very nice and realistic.

      I feel the same way! Unsolicited advice and criticism isn't helpful. I loved the way they decorated and used the pictures on the wall to break up all the whiteness.

    That video shows that everything is possible even with a tiny budget. It looked a way cosier at the end. I did something similar with a room that I rent in a town that I go to work. It's not my home, but these details makes it feels so much better.

    I knew it was going to be cute when i saw the green carpet.
    You should add some fake plants, or real ones on top of the window or near your bed.

    I do loke the wall decor on the left side with the leafs and giraffe etc. but I think that dark big fabric right at the entrance makes the space there seem very dark and claustrophobic. I also feel like not having any wallpaper whatsoever on the right side would make the whole appartement appear brighter. To make it look more spacious I would add a big mirror on the right side that goes All the way to the ground. Maybe an interesting one with fun design or intersections.

    Looks good? I'm amazed at the tiny space homes they have there I feel so blessed to have all this space. Would of made the place look bigger is mirrors ,one in the hallway and a standing lamp in that corner to really brighten that space up and you can see that chakra wall hanging better. But Yess looks really cool.

  • @veronicamokunui1372
    @veronicamokunui1372 5 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Why all the stuff on the walls? You might want to consider hanging cabinets or shelving for storage. Also, didn't IKEA have any items that could serve double duty? Small spaces need to be minimized especially shared spaces and colors neutral so you don't feel crowded.

    • @DongDongWu
      @DongDongWu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Things on the wall make it less pale but that's a good advice on neutral colors. Pity the landlord doesn't allow nails in the wall. And we didn't change the furniture for it's only a temporary place. But definitely next flat we will do more as you suggested!

    Wouldn't moving the bed to the right corner wall make more sense? Their issue is the bed drawers being in the way of the other furniture just so they could open them. If the bed was not horizontal but vertical to the room on the right cornor they can fit all the furniture on the left giving the kitchen area the room they wanted without getting ride of much needed storage. They could of also moved the desk in front of the bed's footing off the wall giving them a way to watch "tv" in bed since that desk has a open window. I also don't see why they couldn't use the desk as their dinning table? Also those windows behing the kitchen confuse me, like where do they go? It's not a hallway since the entrence is on the opposite side and the main window is also on another opposite side. Such a weird shape apartment 😵

    • @DongDongWu
      @DongDongWu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good suggestions! You are right it is a weird shape apartment. In order to make the best use of their apartments lots of landlords in Hong Kong separate the flats into 2 or 3 subdivided units. Actually we live with a neighbor just with an added wall in between

    • @niekklein8725
      @niekklein8725 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bad Feng shui to put your bed in front of a door. Other options would be Murphy bed of either making bed slightly higher (more storage) or making a system to lift the bed up, towards the ceiling. In two cases more space for living, other more storage area. Prices are a lot higher than in Europe it seems.

    I like this was done on a budget and something that didn't require like a lot of skill and money. But it has a very dorm look down to the tapestries That out door table was apoor choiceas it is also the desk and everythign else with limited space under it for legs/chairs. The space between the slats aren't great for writing on Its too bad people don't realize that storage under the ed i great but if space is super tight pulling out drawers are a no no. Lift up beds better. That huge tapestry in the hall way is a big NO. It darkened the place and narrowed the entrance. Even 3M hooks would have been useful And yes less art and more mirrors. but he seems happy - I hope it is just for one person that is tiny.
