Greg Dulli is an American nation treasure.
The most definitive song from this masterpiece of an album. There's melodies in this tune that argue "I'm the most definitive Afghan track of all time, possibly ahead of 'Faded'". Eitherway, Dulli is on an incredibly hot creative streak, and the Afghan's are further my fav band of all time!

My honest opinion. You released the first single that got me sooooooooo excited for thr new record, seriously thought, YESSSS! They are going to ROCK this one! Went and saw Jack White and was REALLY looking forward to seeing you guys since pre-covid....(been seeing every show in LA since early 90s, all incarnations) and we're back to odd imagery, like when u sold pink lame floyd merch (remember that? ). Most of this stuff sounds like should be Twilight material! (Have everything, I'm a Dulli Addict!) Where is the ROCK?? NOT saying I don't like the music, just rock a video & not all this imagery. I love the song, but this video looks like an American Apparel ad. It should be the band playing a dive bar with a bunch of drunk patrons living it up and becoming kings and queens for a night. Not space suits and choreographed roller skaters. This video screams "middle-aged band thinks it's still the 00's and not cool to be a rock band." Thankfully the music is a different story, but I wish Greg Dulli wouldn't hide from his past persona and bring back the scrappy, panther-like soul man he used to be. He should be reaching his Marvin Gaye Midnight Love period now, sporting sharp threads and strutting around like the coolest cat this side of Detroit! Don't cage the panther, Greg. Embrace him and free him...!!!

I respect your opinion. 1st time I heard it was live at the ATL show, and it was very funky with a super bass groove. That groove and Greg's almost ethereal vocal gave me a really cool feeling of nostalgia. That's what I love about The Whigs, the emotionality in the music matching the lyrics in any tempo. Those emotions being different for each song or album of songs. When I heard the recorded version it fell a little flat with me when holding it up to the live version I experienced.
That said, When I first saw this video, it seemed to elevate the recorded version 75% of the way up to that live version for me. I think the skating rink and metallic mistiness brought that similar nostalgia meets modern sleekness to the recorded version. It made me appreciate the recording better than I had, and that has got to be at least part of the reason for a video , at all. I also think pilot fish are cool. They are sleek and nostalgic with their black seersucker duds. Cheers!

Funny, it was kind of the opposite for me: I immediately loved the song and thought it was one of the best songs Dulli ever wrote (which is saying something!). So I was bringing a lot of expectations to what this video could be or should represent, etc. Perhaps too much so. You and another AW fan I'm friends with have made me appreciate the video a bit more (it is beautifully shot and I do like its vibe). Awesome that you got to see the band perform it live too. I just recorded an in depth video review for the new album; when I'm finished editing it, I'll post a link to this thread. I think you'll appreciate my thoughts on it. Cheers! 🥃👍🏼
@@EdwinCannistraci not to worry. I actually shot this and had 8 hours to do it. I do appreciate your criticism as it helps me understand certain things that can and cannot be in my control. I guess that’s the way it goes. I mean, ya can't please everyone right? What I am proud of however, is how a group of total strangers got together in that short amount of time and made something bittersweet. Could it have been something else? Sure, was there time? No. We made exactly what we could do and fate would allow. I gotta say, I can stand by that.
