Love this performance. John Curley owned a recording studio in Cincinnati (Ultrasuede). My band recorded our CD there and the Whigs were there at the same time using the other studio to rehearse songs from this yet unreleased album. In between takes, we would chill with them on the couches there. Great guys. One of my favorite bands and a great memory of mine.
"Bands that the kids just love ... " Ha! I was 38 when this album came out and it blew me away. Their sound just got better and better from when they first blew me away at dive bars in Cincinnati in the late 80s.
Listening to this band is too intense for me sometimes. I'm perfectly happy right now in my life after some shitty years and still I'm crying to this video because of the sheer beauty and pain I feel in their music.
Best Band, Gred Dulli Rocks!!! Love the groove of this song, the percussion is amazing and that Steve Wonder spice. Miss the long gone Bear Creek days with Pam and Simone.
I saw Afghan Whigs on the “Black Love” tour back in the day. They played a bit of “Superstition” and segued into “Going To Town”. So awesome. To this day, it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
that is the ABSOLUTE WORST AND MOST WRONG thing ever said about the Afghan Whigs. You just lost all your Greg Dulli privileges. Please destroy all the recordings you possess of the Whigs, The Twilight Singers, and the Gutter Twins immediately.

Awesome! Good times. 👍🏻
You guys were based in Cinncy? Did you guys ever finish an album at Ultrasuede?
Yes we did. Our CD " What's Happened to Fred ?" was recorded there. Band was Speakboy. @@davidtaylor6663
The best band and most underated band... EVER.
no argument from ME here on this...I have not found any band better
I saw the Afghan Whigs last weekend. If that’s the last show I ever see, then I’m okay with that.
Shit that's great. Saw them a couple times and Twilight Singers. Never disappointed me. Dulli's one serious badass.
yep..been telling my Gen Z nephew same thing..they wont ever see this
This band was absolutely amazing. 1996 was a hell of a time to see The Afghan Whigs

I was 16 I think
'black love' is in my top 5 or 10 albums, all-time. love the tension, friction, intensity and passion.
Its in my top 1!
I played the shit out of this album and this song was at the top of the mountain.
I love you guys!. Always will!. Gentlemen and Black Love will always be the best rock albums of the 90's
The amount of power and passion in their live performances is unequaled. They are amazing.
Love and support Forever.
From Italy 🇮🇹
Greg Dulli is like Evil Elvis
Such a epic album. They drip with rhythm n sexuality.

Been sober for years and this song makes me experience the emotions related to a relapse. Art doesn’t get much more intense than that.
I feel the same way. No other band makes me feel the pull of evil, so I don't listen often anymore.
I love them so hard, still
One of the greatest rock songs ever recorded!
This is my ringtone. 🦋🎸🎼🎤
Great taste.
Great video title: "Afghan Whigs going to town on Letterman." - poor Dave.
Best Band, Gred Dulli Rocks!!! Love the groove of this song, the percussion is amazing and that Steve Wonder spice. Miss the long gone Bear Creek days with Pam and Simone.
crazy sick groove
Fuck me. How extraodrinarily brilliant is that.
Saw them open for Neil at MSG this year.
Masterpiece.
This is so fucking righteous.
fuckin hell what a groove
this is 'one' of those 'moments'
everyone has 'one'
Even brought the babe on electric cello, thats class. Tops on live shows, Whigs fukin rule
LOVE them ....
God love Happy Chichester.
Soooooooooo tight! F'in snaggly.
Awesome chorus. Whigs rule
This is the best cover of "Superstition" anyone has ever done.
Black Love is their best album overall, narrowly beating out Gentlemen for me, but Black Love was just a masterpiece from the first track to the last.
John Curley keeps it bouncy!
You guys kick ass. Now go get rich. you worked for it.
FUCKING AMAZING!
good god damn
Qué banda, carajo!
is that Robin Ophelia Quivers in the beginning of this segment??
Absolutely!!! She looked soo hot!!
Greg and mark landegan together were the dark Simon and Garfunkel
Is that Doug Falsetti on percussions and backing vocals?
Seems The Afghan Whigs missed their golden opportunity to go to town on the very self-lubricating Robin Quivers. "Black Love", indeed.
Greg Dulli is GOD!
First of all great performance by the Whigs…second of all a Baba Booey to you all!!!
Wasn't the keyboardist on Big Bang Theory?
Rachel Hunter is very good
Letterman sounds like me on today’s bands.
robin quivers?
Just think what Steve Earle could've done with this rhythm...
no wonder Letterman quit after all those fellas going to town on him
Like an interesting version of 'Superstition'
The keyboard riffs are totally Stevie Wonder inspired.
"superstitious" anyone
Well, a little, but never mind. That red suit!

Ooft
Bullshit Dave the Afghan Whigs are for adults
i love the whigs. reminds me of the smithereens.
10,000 leagues beyond the Smithereens
True!!°. Better looking.
Way better too. Sorry. Smithereens had one song. These guys are so funk n they cast a wide net.
that is the ABSOLUTE WORST AND MOST WRONG thing ever said about the Afghan Whigs. You just lost all your Greg Dulli privileges. Please destroy all the recordings you possess of the Whigs, The Twilight Singers, and the Gutter Twins immediately.
@@nrg359 His comment and yours made me laugh pretty hard. The Smithereens... lmao. Hopefully he was joking.
Kinda normal rock.
kids
Pffffff
Are they Afghans or wutt? L o L
It's a political reference. Dulli's college band was the Black Republicans. Look that up.
Uck me this holds up xx
total imposter
