I agree I picked out 2024 HR-V EX-L AWD Modern Steel Metallic with Grey interior for sister last month. She wanted something new. But she's still keeping her 2007 Ridgeline Pickup Truck 235,000 miles on it. When we went to dealership few months ago to help her grown son get new vehicle. This was 2024 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback CVT. Sister said she wanted something new to keep miles off aged Ridgeline. So we sold some property and are able to buy much needed new vehicles. My nephew's car was 15yrs old I told him don't put any money into it. So he got new car paid for in his name. Sister has 2007 Ridgeline so she needed something new. My 2000 Acura TL has just 108,000 miles on it. I would drive Ridgeline when I traveled. So I will be getting 2025 Pilot Elite soon. I always had Honda vehicles since 1980. But HR-V EX-L has everything Sister needs. She already put 3500 miles on it.

Last year in 23, I was looking to trade my 20 Fit EX as I had 8200.00 equity toward a new car. I wanted a 23 Accord EX. In Texas, my car insurance was going up 445.00 in my 6 months. A Civic, you couldn’t find last year was 440.00 more for insurance. The lowest insurance increase was the 24 HRV EXL at 235.00. I paid 29,000. No mark ups as I refused. Gas mileage sucks ass but I work at home. If you buy one get the EXL for leather, power seat, sun roof, blind spot, wireless charging. It’s not an Accord that I want but I refuse to pay my insurance company more. I got the show room car as the Honda dealer had sold the other 3 they had.

I just bought a 2025 Camry Hybrid and got 4.9% which is Toyotas best rate. Fortunately I have enough to pay it off and will in a few days. I only got it a week ago. That will save me $5000.00 in interest. You are probably only paying about $3 per day in interest on your balance with that rate.
It’s crazy that you get rid of the Fit. 20 was the last year for them and it’s impossible to find smth with low mileage for a reasonable price. I was searching for one and it was easier to buy a brand new car overpaying few thousand.
I own the 2024 HR-V for having just moved to Alaska. Gotta say, it does excellent for what we need. Pothole ridden gravel roads are the norm here, and it does excellent. Back when we had it in the city the acceleration was a bit weak, but I'm not a fan of SUV's having too quick acceleration; these things are tanks and battering rams for pedestrians and smaller cars. The 2.0L Engine isn't quick, but doesn't feel like it's ever struggling. Carving through the mountains and hills, this thing does just fine. The AWD system works well, gets us up some hills and nasties just fine. Sure there's more off-road vehicles out there, but for the price point, this thing does EXACTLY what we need it to here in Alaska. Only thing I'd say is that the stock tires don't work great in the snow, but I have some Studded tires for my second set. Love the HR-V, definitely recommend. Especially in delicious Milano red.
I looked at this few months ago but engine was under powered and wanted a Hybrid so passed up on this and ended up with the CRV Hybrid. Sure, cost me a lot more but got a much better vehicle with more power, better FE and also good resale value!
I loveeeee my HRV 2025 and when you put it in sport it def goes fast 💨 and I’m a fast driver. It’s perfect, great surround sound for music and smooth quiet drive, just took it on a road trip. Yes acceleration is a little slow initially but be no fool, I’m out here keeping up with anyone on the road lollll and love it. Some of yal Should test drive the car instead of basing you opinion off pictures and others because for a SUV this mfka go! Okurrrrrrr
I love this cross over! I've been driving it for a month now and it's awesome! I get 31 miles a gallon which isn't the best but it sure isn't the worst either. Lol. I buy Honda and always have. Their reliability and resell value is always better.
A comment on MPG. My 2017 HRV got up to 38 mpg on the highway! The newer models do not have as much storage capacity AND get worse gas mileage, what happened Honda! It was great around town, zippy and nice handling. It was however a gutless wonder! But what you got in return was worth it. Paid $15k in 2021, sold in 2024 for $18,500 putting 25k on the odometer. Oh and no silly start stop technology which is sooo irritating and not good for the motor.
The only reason to buy this is if Uber doesn't go where you're going and you don't have time to save for Mazda's lowest rung. Actually, they may be comparable in price. The HR-V's engine is weak. So much so that I think it might pose a danger in steep uphill on-ramps. If you are getting small car for an aging parent/grandparent who has no plans to drive on freeways, this might be the ticket.
My 68yr old sister says it's just fine. She drives like a bat out of Hell. Just over a month of ownership she's put over 3,500 miles on 2024 HR-V EX-L AWD. Once up to speed rolling it keeps up and passes well. Sister has 2007 Ridgeline 235,000 miles always on road. I drove the HR-V 80 miles home from the dealership it had 30 miles on it at purchase. I picked this vehicle out for sister. Just like I picked out 2024 Civic Sport Hatchback CVT for my Nephew. This was month before his mother got HR-V. I'm getting 2025 Pilot Elite soon.
I like the size for the class and the layout but they have to replace the lawnmower engine currently under the hood with the hybrid powertrain from the Civic.
Fun fact: this car is sold in Europe as a hybrid only, called the zrv. What they call an hrv in Europe is a completely different car based on the fit platform.
@@2004cyrus you have to test drive yourself to get the feel of the car. Had a Civic before and love the handling of this car similar to my Civic which I drove for over 200K miles
Add a hybrid system on this smaller SUV and the sales will probably jump up on-par with potential CRV buyers looking for a lower price point and a commuter they can putt around town.
It’s so bizarre to me that Honda doesn’t have heated side mirrors as standard, even on trims with a surprising set of features. My 2019 Fit EX has Apple/Android auto, radar cruise control, lane-keep assist, and even walk-away auto-lock which some $80k+ Lexus’ don’t even have, but no heated side mirrors. 🤷♂️
The Sport HR-V he said had heated mirrors. Its a feature added from the base trim. We just got 2024 HR-V EX-L AWD and that as top trim has heated mirrors and heated seats. Dual-Zone Climate Control Blind Spot Warning Rear Cross Traffic Monitor.
Nice - But once again Honda is way behind in offering a hybrid. And no rear seat vent is a sin! A Toyota Corolla Cross het better MPG for the same $$$, mid-trim has those read seat vents and over all costs less at each trim level. And they have hybrid trims with a massive MPG rating of 38/45 (yes those trims cost about $2-$3 K more, but to me worth it!)
I bought this car cuz I needed a reliable car. Buy is used for 22k. No need for exl with this car. If you like to drive slow (65 or lower), and you plan on up grading the music system, having car seat cover and you need the space. This car is for you.
Avoid and get the 196 hp Corolla Cross hybrid instead. Ride is soft and comfortable with plenty of power. Problem is you may not be able to get one quickly so you're stuck with your old car for awhile😢😢
Exactly! Any other car is better than the HRV. Definitely DO NOT BUY the HR-V. The WORST new car I've ever test driven. I honestly don't understand how it is a serious offering from a major car-maker. It is unbelievably bad. Seats are made of concrete, suspension is made of concrete, steering is column/rack is made of concrete (heavy steering weight). Road noise is atrocious. The rock-hard suspension makes the interior bits squeak and rattle. Insanely uncomfortable car. Not worth even $15k.

I own a 2020 Honda Pilot (leased it first) and I have leased several Hondas + two Acuras and honestly …. I am beginning to wonder if Honda is hurting. They are light-years behind in offering hybrids, and had to turn to GM for a fairly bad EV (the Prologue is bland-bland and more bland) that was based on an existing GM gas powered Chevy Blazer, Acura is even farther behind the competition in having hybrids and EV and still only has a tiny amount of models, and finally Honda’s big “future vehicle” is actually another Hydrogen fuel cell CRV….when there are NO hydrogen fuel places!!!! (There were only two at one time in Orange County, CA and both shut down.) Just what the heck is Honda doing?
my mom and nana both have owned many hondas throughout their lives (my nana has had 8, my mom has had 4) and when it's time for them to get new cars, they're both leaving the brand after 25+ loyal years. the insane price increases are now unjustifiable for the ratio of luxury to dollars. my mom currently has a 2021 CR-V and in 2021 the MSRP of her EX-L AWD was 31,900 and that's what she paid. now, a 2025 CR-V EX-L AWD is over 38k with the few options she has (rubber mats and cargo tray, door and moonroof visors). 32k just barely gets you a FWD LX now. not to mention, the only features that the 25 has over the 21 are LED headlights /interior lights and a bigger screen. that's it! for 6k more than the 21 price. my nana has a 2020 HR-V EX FWD. since the EX trim is no more, the closest in comparison would be the Sport. her HRV in 2020 was 22k, and now the Sport is 27k. the 2020 has a sunroof as well and the Sport doesn't. again, only upgrades are LED headlights and interior lights. plus you loose the magic rear seat and the 20 gets better gas mileage (38 usually). it makes more sense for my mom to switch to VW, as she really likes the new Atlas Cross Sport. after dealer incentives, it's only 3k more than the CRV and is a bigger, more powerful and much better equipped vehicle that she is actually going to be happy with her decision with. my nana on the other hand, doesn't drive much so it won't be time for an upgrade for hopefully a while, but she really likes the Ford Maverick, and it is only 2.5k more than the HRV. also tell me how it makes sense that a CR-V EX-L AWD is only 2.5K less than a Passport EX-L AWD?
@@barbz_zayne I have leased 7 Hondas (2 of them Acuras) since 2002, the most recent 2020 Pilot EX-L I purchased after the lease because in October 2023 the market for new vehicles was really tight with huge mark-ups. But in reality I go back to when my friend around 1975 got the first Civic CVCC 2-door hatchback . - one of those yellow ones. His next car was the 3rd-gen 1983 model. My point is Honda use to be about quality, value, innovation and great gas mileage. Sadly, except for quality they have slipped way behind in everything else.
I drove the CR-V the other day (cross-shopping against the RAV4 to replace my 2010 V6 AWD RAV4 with 212k miles that was totaled a week ago by a drunk) and I didn't hate the CVT the way I thought I would, but then it had more power than the HR-V. I would consider the HR-V in AWD (I cross a 9,300ft pass to get to work in the winter) If it had the CR-V's drivetrain. But, sadly, it's a LOT weaker, and with the CVT, that's a hard nope. Too bad, because otherwise I could save some money and get the HR-V. So, I guess it's between the CR-V and the RAV4. Too bad, because otherwise the HR-V would meet my current needs (efficient daily driver with AWD for the mountains).
According to expert car reviewer TheTopher, it took him almost 13 seconds to do zero to 60 in the 2024 Honda HRV. That's far too slow! I'm not going to pay almost 30k or more for such a slow vehicle Honda, no thanks!
That’s terrible, it’s even slower than the previous Gen with a smaller 1.8L. This one must be a boat as far as heaviness goes 🤦🏽♂️. It definitely needs the Civic hybrid drive train asap .
@@tails300 You're right. This latest current gen HRV is quite a bit bigger and heavier than the last gen which is why it's slower than the last gen HRV, this current gen HRV is almost as big and almost as heavy as a Toyota RAV4 but has a lot less power than the RAV4!
I'm thinking the Hardesty brothers test a new car everyday to put out as many videos as they do. They must love cars, because they are even enthusiastic with a HR-V which is one of the slowest cars you can buy.
My vote would be for the Kona or KIA Seltos without question. Many people are still hung up on the Honda badge though. If you test drive either of those vehicles against this, there would be no way you would settle on an HR-V.
Do not buy a HRV... I had the 2023 HRV and the engine is underpowered and the gas miliage is trash because the engine is working so hard all the time. Its a terrible driving experience. Room in the car is tight.... I'm 5'10 and I felt cramped. Just listen to the engine in the video... So bad. Don't say I didn't warn you.

@digitaldazzle5836 I agree it has a nice interior and exterior. The road manners are pretty decent. It can run keep up in traffic. It's just slow from 0-60 but up and running it's alright.
That thing needs a facelift in the baddest way. I would choose one of Mazda's options over the HR-V 100% of the time. That's not just because of how it looks.
The HRV is a Turd when it comes to power and acceleration. I would never buy the HRV. Honda will need to hybridize that car or put a better engine in it. I like cars that move when you step on the gas!
The front grille is soooo faqin UGLY man, its like some body started the work but they didn't finish it due to corruption and lack of budget ..... they should have make it bigger and wider like Acura RDX or Lexus NX F Sport. Or just joint the front grill with the bumper grill together.
LOL "Hard acceleration"... The droning of the CVT just makes it SO much worse, us older types (I'm 60) just think the manual clutch is slipping badly or the auto tranny is low on fluid. Ugh. Honda should have made the CR-V engine/CVT an option, you KNOW it would fit. Or at least offer a factory turbo option for 200hp. At the elevations I regularly drive (9,300ft+) this thing would TOTALLY suck to drive.

It's OK to give this car's acceleration the sleepy emoji with ZZzzzz. If any car deserves it this is it.
If it wasn't for the Kicks, our slow benchmark 😂
Prices should not be going up on crap like this. I guess they can go anywhere they want, I am not buying.
The rear squat from legit one person in the rear seat is crazy
Great vehicle for winter driving. Love my 24 HRV Sport.
Reading that wasn’t fun at all
Just got this in urban gray color. I love it!
You don’t mine the slow CVT, bad gas mileage, and lack of features?
@@2004cyrus you have to test drive yourself to get the feel of the car. Had a Civic before and love the handling of this car similar to my Civic which I drove for over 200K miles

can you use some international measurement?lyou know ,the metric system. feet, inches, hands, sticks not very useful internationally, thanks great video
This 2025 HR-V has heated side mirror as standard
The Sport HR-V he said had heated mirrors. Its a feature added from the base trim.
We just got 2024 HR-V EX-L AWD and that as top trim has heated mirrors and heated seats. Dual-Zone Climate Control Blind Spot Warning Rear Cross Traffic Monitor.
Ace & Gary are hilarious.
I'm waiting on the hybrid engine and I'm ordering one. I drive a lot in the city.
Toyota Cross doesn't look as good interior as HR-V.
Love your car video
Can u get sport & exl??
What is the magic with Stanley water bottles? Is it just trendy like Bass Pro hats?
His wife bought him one and now it serves as a good test of the cupholders because it's so dang big
Good thing is its a very reliable powertrain 2.0
Wow that's amazing 😍🤩
Excellent review!
Have a great weekend!
Im just glad that our asian version hrv has the 1.5L turbo in it
For the price it isn't a great deal imo when the crv is just a little more. Also CVT is a meh from me. Don't like em.
They need a hybrid!! This will sell even more.
Guys....will the 2025 nissan pathfinder and infiniti qx60 still have the v6 engine? Any news yet?
Haven't heard anything yet but we'd expect to start hearing things relatively soon
Is this the same as the Z-RV in Australia?
Yes
What does Honda have against putting vents and charging ports in the back seats of their cars? SMH
or a centre armrest? Typical Honda cheaping out and their buyers not knowing any better.
💰 savings?
@paulschab8152 Honda is just too expensive nowadays.
Theres no subcompact suv with vents. Not just honda thing
@@tmyere. The Mazda cx-30 does
I bought this car cuz I needed a reliable car. Buy is used for 22k. No need for exl with this car. If you like to drive slow (65 or lower), and you plan on up grading the music system, having car seat cover and you need the space. This car is for you.
Next test on honda anything, use a calendar for acceleration test.
It looks alright, it’s kind of expensive for a Honda
I would skip the Hrv, and buy a Subaru Crosstrek or Mazda Cx30, which will be much more enjoyable & less boring.
When are you going to start selling the donuts? I don't see them on your website?

Avoid and get the 196 hp Corolla Cross hybrid instead. Ride is soft and comfortable with plenty of power. Problem is you may not be able to get one quickly so you're stuck with your old car for awhile😢😢
I'd take a Mazda CX-30 over the HR-V all day! Even the naturally aspirated CX-30 crushes the HR-V in terms of power. (191 hp/186 ft-lbs torque)
@@cw4623for my money the cx30 is the worst vehicle. The belt line is so high I feel like I'm a hot tub with absolutely terrible visibility. Which sucks because it was the car I wanted until I tried it.
@@rick330yes and the cargo capacity is so limited. So many consumers are coming to subcompact SUVs but want as much cargo and passenger space as possible. Are they planning to bring any hybrid model for this in 2026 model year? I think it'll be unbeatable then
They already have it in Europe.. why not here!!
We hope so!
Needs more power but everything else is great, if this had the same powertrain as the refreshed Civic Hybrid, it’d the the car in it’s class to buy, especially given the price
question: i keep seeing that it needs more power but am not sure why? if it is lower powered does it lessen the lifespan of the car? I want to buy this car but if I am going to have to keep up with costly repairs or my car will give out on me in a couple years due to the low power, I would rather buy something else. Please someone let me know. I need a family car and am not sure if this car is the way to go.
@@Mdchl13 well power and reliability aren’t correlated to each other, the HR-V is fantastic as is though it might feel slow to certain crowds, that’s why I say it needs more power, I think the CR-V is a better choice for a family car than the HR-V if you want to stick to Honda
i feel like a cx30 is better. It’s my other option, im just annoyed at how tiny it is compared to the new HRV
Safety features when turn right no picture to see clear on the screen.
What are you talking about?
If your talking about Lane Watch camera in right side mirror
Honda did away with that a number of years ago. They ha Blind Spot Warning System on several models of HR-V and other Honda Acura vehicles.
Talking about pricing isn't this car made in Mexico and if so the labor must be cheaper and still the prices have been escalating... content and materials are less apparent.
i have SUCH bad luck with Mazda ~ 2 - mazda 5's, 1 - mazda cx 30
first was true lemon;second just sucked, in general; cx30 acceleration & braking was never consistent...
Wish they would throw the civic hybrid power train on it
Ill probably get the 2025 nissan kicks SR over this. I mean you get the new dual 12.3 inch touchscreen radio and gauge cluster something you cannot get in this HRV. Also the bose stereo in the new Kicks. The only downside is the Jatco built CVT transmission
Even my 2024 trailblazer rs is faster than this and better looking inside. Also no cvt.
(There were only two at one time in Orange County, CA and both shut down.)
Just what the heck is Honda doing?
my mom and nana both have owned many hondas throughout their lives (my nana has had 8, my mom has had 4) and when it's time for them to get new cars, they're both leaving the brand after 25+ loyal years. the insane price increases are now unjustifiable for the ratio of luxury to dollars. my mom currently has a 2021 CR-V and in 2021 the MSRP of her EX-L AWD was 31,900 and that's what she paid. now, a 2025 CR-V EX-L AWD is over 38k with the few options she has (rubber mats and cargo tray, door and moonroof visors).
You guys know that honda is over pricing their vehicles. Many are starting to boycott their products. There is no excuse!
CVT and looks kill it for me
I chose CR-V because the monthly payment was only $100 more over a 5-year period for similar trims (EX-L).
I would like to see this car have a hybrid engine. It would be much more better.
You guys always test acceleration uphill , next time test it downhills 🙏🙏🙏
And this is possibly the basis for the new Acura ADX….Hmmmm…
It was confirmed to be based on the integra thank god
According to expert car reviewer TheTopher, it took him almost 13 seconds to do zero to 60 in the 2024 Honda HRV. That's far too slow! I'm not going to pay almost 30k or more for such a slow vehicle Honda, no thanks!
Imagine you have 3 passengers with some luggage. 0 to 60 in 2 business days 😂

Hyundai Kona against this
My vote would be for the Kona or KIA Seltos without question. Many people are still hung up on the Honda badge though.
If you test drive either of those vehicles against this, there would be no way you would settle on an HR-V.
Kona has issues. Quality is still not on par with Honda
Volkswagen Taos with the 8 speed AT.
Do not buy a HRV... I had the 2023 HRV and the engine is underpowered and the gas miliage is trash because the engine is working so hard all the time. Its a terrible driving experience.
HR-V sucks! Honda could have a great car for a specific consumer but messed it up with this weak motor.
