I never would have imagined that you could use an iron and wood glue for veneers. That’s a great tip.
I was really hoping to hear you say “you can never have too many people tell you you can never have too many clamps.” My girlfriends daughter says that every time I grab a clamp in the shop now thanks to you haha

It is. This knowledge also helps when you forgot to remove glue exceed on your piece and it got to the point of solid rock. You just take your orbital sander with some rough paper like 40, 60 or 80, make a quick touch (5-10 seconds) on the exceed to heat it up and then remove it with you chisel in a seconds.

A tip I use are pocket holes for super strong 45 degree angles. My favorites used here are the straight line jig as it’s a must for lumber that doesn’t have one straight edge, CA glue between wood glue for a strong fast bond, and painters tape to minimize tear out. All works great! 👍🏼

Man if there is one woodworker that I hope succeeds and gets huge, it's you. I've been a fan for a while and the fact that you went from web design into woodworking is a great success story and gives me hope that as a software engineer I can let learn and grow in woodworking. For real, love your stuff, I have your band saw book and I don't even have a band saw yet I'm such a fan. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your knowledge and journey, it's cool to watch.

Great Tips! Recently,, I had to hold down some small blocks of wood to rout recesses in them. I had no awareness of the wedge method you show, but came up with exactly the same thing. I made rectangles out of scrap to fit the small wood blocks, but on two sides attached the scrap wood at an angle for the shims. Back in colonial days, and later, they didn't have our modern clamps. They made do with solutions such as using wedges. There is a video on TH-cam that shows how to make a jig for cutting shims on the table saw. Saved me a lot of money and trips to HD to buy them.
