Indeed the top nuts on the strut cap are a nightmare. Totally rusted and locked on my 2011 TDI. Trouble is that the spring is in the way and you cannot get to them to cut them off, and further the rubber stops you from using say vice grips to grab the lower nut. Spring breaking due to rust is also common in the rust belt. Rear springs break and then the fronts.
Remove the main strut nut first and then detach the shock mount from the body. It is indeed a bad design. The Japanese cars comes with studs with that shock mount.
2:18 PAY ATTENTION if you’re thinking of doing this, I wish I saw this video in advance. This happened to me exactly and I had to dremel the bolt head off bc the nut broke free. If I got under there and cleaned up the threads before ratcheting away, I would’ve been fine
I got noises from the front end, sprayed some silicon lube into the top mount and the grunt, creaky sound gone but still occasionally got that clunking sound when going over the humps at moderate speed … it could be lower arm bushing …
How crucial is it to replace dust covers , bellows , shock and strut bumpers ? I’m asking for my mark 6 GTI I’m kinda tight on cash and would rather pay for the shocks and struts and mounts than parts that aren’t vital to the ride quality .
HELP - my front suspension making crunch noises over speed bumps at low speed. Newer OEM lower control arms and ball joints. Newer Bilstein B4 shocks with new OEM mounts, Meile heavy-duty stabilizer bars. No noise when turning, only straight over bumps. Could it be old sway bar bushings or not properly torqued DSG mount bolt on newer 034 Motorsport solid rubber mount? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm visiting my VW tuner mechanic in OC on saturday.
It should be sway bar bushings, I guess. Quite a common problem on all Jettas. OEMs are surprisingly quite poor, I'm also preparing to change them to something non-OEM
My 2013.5 GLI has independent front and rear suspension...its a mk 6 but the .5 at the end of 2013 indicates them installing their new Gen3 888 210 hp turbo engine before rolling out the new mk7 GTI MODEL

Great info!
My drivers front ride height and passenger rear ride height are about an inch lower than the other 2. What would cause that?
Hi 👋🏼 how do I reduce the NVH entering the cabin of my 2017 VW Jetta GLI 2.0T? is there an engine mount? Or cv joint that you’d recommend purchasing?
Does the 1.4 Jetta S have the same issues as your regular Jetta SE, SEL, and GLI and if so sugar replace the same parts as in GLI?
Nice video.
Thanks for that
can you make them shirts available?
amazing chanel
Can i know the part number of genuine springs(front and rear) of vw jetta gli?
Absolutely! you'll need the color code from the springs likely, but check out contact.fcpeuro.com for more on that!
Is it true the mk6 GLI shares the same suspension with the 1.4t Wolfsburg jetta? please confirm.
