That was the first Metro system in the US that I ever got familiar with. Sixteen years ago, for a week. It doesn't look to have changed much. It made nice use of the existing track.
But only east and west. If it also connected north and south this would be great. Maybe extra two lines which connect northeast with southwest and northwest with southeast respectively could bring it closer to perfection
I've been to St Louis twice but I couldn't try out this one. I was with my family. I saw the elevated stations, though. I might visit the city this year as well. Let's see what will happen. :) I just reached to that part where you've been up on the Arch. The 10 min time limit up there was such a disappointment last time. And they didn't even told us anything about that in advance....
Only rode it once in 01 for a Cardinals game technically not convenient with a construction worker's job title, which can change daily. Unfortunately, Metro still has a problem curbing violence on their system.
I got accepted into UMSL on a full ride scholarship. I keep hearing about how dangerous STL is. I'll be relying on public transportation or uber to get around. How safe is the MetroLink?
There used to be rollsigns on most of the light rail cars in St Louis before they were replaced with LED signage between 2019 and 2023. The oldest cars will be retired instead.

This was on a Sunday, the lowest ridership day of the week. They’re not even running full trains because of the low expected ridership. US transit systems are funded by local taxes, in this case, a sales tax in the counties that it serves.

It’s because of two reasons: crime concerns on the system and because of the planned retirement of the system’s oldest cars. This is being done on weekends and during the midday and night period on weekdays. Two car trains will continue to run on rush hours only until the new cars completely arrive after which midday service with two cars will return.
Honestly they should turn this into a Proper Metro like the "L" in Chicago or the Subway in NYC
Хорошее видео!)

This is not even close to being the first metro system in the US.

Oh my, you filmed this during that month when they decided to shorten the train. That was a tough time. Fortunately, it only lasted a month

Also go to México City, Guadalajara & Mérida bro, there are very good transport systems there

so glad they aren't running single cars anymore. it's like they wanted to lower ridership
Yeah, that was a tough time.
Yeah, but I don't exactly see a packed 1 car train, the demand is dictating this
👏🏿👍🏿

One car trains, cute
One of the very flaws of US rail systems is the 20 minute headways. Less than 12 mins is considered unacceptable in the euro world.
This system runs every 10 minutes on the busiest section and evert 20 minutes on branches.
@@rorypaul153 some busiest sections are like 3 stations long and don’t even cover the city center
