The film that became a kind of "spiritual successor" to Apocalypto, in my opinion, is the animation "Rio 2096: A Story of Love and Fury (2013)". The film addresses the transformations embarked on by domination and violence over the oppressed peoples of Latin America from the arrival of Europeans - which is where Apocalypto ends. The story is then told from the cause of an indigenous warrior (like Jaguar Paw) who runs through the ages, always on the oppressed side, seeking revenge for the murder of his wife (Jaguar Paw's Wife), from the 1500s to the year 2096, being reborn in several historical events in Brazil in its course, facing the figure of the oppressor that persists since the European invasion. The movie is amazing, it starts in an Apocalypto feel and ends in a breathtaking Cyberpunk dystopia. I highly recommend it, and it's available on Netflix.

say what you will about Mel Gibson, but he took a cast with little to no acting ability or experience and made an amazing movie. none of his films try very hard at historical accuracy but he makes a memorable spectacle on screen nonetheless.

It's a shame that Mel Gibson never got the recognition he deserved for this great movie. I suspect it's because he insulted some Jews in the Hollywood movie industry got himself boycotted. This movie should've won the Oscars hands down.
Assiste ao "Uma História de Amor e Fúria", tem na Netflix. É um épico brasileiro que, pra mim, se tornou uma espécie de "sucessor espirítual" de Apocalypto.
the kid at 1:14 is wrong. the movie came in 2006 that's eleven years ago that makes the child at almost 17 yrs old in 2017. And the picture you used for Carlo Emilio Baez is wrong again. That's Dominican Republic Tourism 2014 Jose Emilio Baez Rodriguez. Get your facts straight before posting.

Hermosos todos y muy profesionales que otros.😍😂 no cabe duda que el talento se trae no se compra. Ay 😇🤗😘😘😘🤗😍🤣😇😔😂🤗😘😘

watching it now 2020,loved this movie from then.
Perfectly matching music.
It's a shame that Mel Gibson never got the recognition he deserved for this great movie. I suspect it's because he insulted some Jews in the Hollywood movie industry got himself boycotted. This movie should've won the Oscars hands down.
dude, this is cool

Rudi mi actor favorito🙌😍2019
My favourite movie. I love the story and the action scenes.
the kid at 1:14 is wrong. the movie came in 2006 that's eleven years ago that makes the child at almost 17 yrs old in 2017. And the picture you used for Carlo Emilio Baez is wrong again. That's Dominican Republic Tourism 2014 Jose Emilio Baez Rodriguez. Get your facts straight before posting.
TX- Grizzz also Maria Isabel Díaz is a different actress
TX- Grizzz 2
TX- Grizzz un Dominicano blanco?
nicely and I think amazing now I see the movie
