It is historically inccorrect. The mayans disappeared in the 10th century and at the end of the movie the conquestadores showed up. Really? Spain was occupied by the muslims during the 10th century and didn't have time for conquest.

Good movie, but, most of the actors are foreigners and Mel Gibson hints that they were Mayan, M G made a film without first studying the history of Mexican indigenous communities before the European invasion. When the Spaniards arrived in México or América, the Mayans had thousands of years that had dissapeared. When the arrived and invaded América, it was the Aztecs who at that time predominated in those lands that today is México. Mel Gibson must have studied Mexican indigenous history before making this movie.
