  • We're fabricating and installing a custom made smooth firewall in the front of the MK1 rabbit pickup to create a shaved, clean looking show engine bay. This is one the last big fabrication projects we need to do for this caddy build.

    🛠 ABOUT ROTBOX
    Hey! We're Mat & Len, a guy and a girl from North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. We love making stuff out of metal and building cars together.
    What kind of cars do we build? We mainly work on modern classic cars (anything 80s- early 90s) and right now we're restoring and modifying a VW MK1 caddy pickup #thatslammedcaddy
    We're down for anything metalworking related and always love to hear your suggestions for what DIY project we should take on next in the comments!
    Thanks for stopping by, if you want to see more welding, grinding, hammering, plasma cutting, press braking as well as all the ups and downs of our fabrication projects make sure you subscribe by hitting that red button!

    you sir just earned a sub. ive spent the last 3 months working on a rusted out mk1 rabbit i pulled out of the woods thats been sitting since 1992. ive got the rust fixed the best i can and the vr6 in and im in the process of hooking everything up but holy shit you do nice work. granted all ive got is a hammer and my parents driveway but damn you can make pieces better than vw could in 1981. nice work!!!

      Cheers man! Awesome project, will be cool with the VR6. That sounds very similar to how I started out too, you just do the best with what you've got.

    Cool project! Really dig the music too 👍. Would a few beads/dimples help with structural rigidity of the flat section? Looking forward to the next installment 😀.

      Cheers! Yeah possibly but we wanted it smoooth, and used 2mm steel so should be strong enough 👍

    Really cool vid and great work. But why though. This seems like 60 hours of work for what? A smooth firewall? Whack.

    • @RotboxMetalworks
      @RotboxMetalworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wild Weasel cheers for the comment. If you’re asking these kind of questions you’re probably watching the wrong build! If you watch our other videos, nothing we’ve done on this truck is necessary. We’re doing it because we can and because we want to. And also the firewall was rotten.
