- In this time lapse video I'll show you how I lowered the front of my project car.
This is an in-depth video of the fabrication work I carried out to lower the front of the VW MK1 caddy pickup by raising the strut top mounts and fitting custom mini tubs.

We're down for anything metalworking related and always love to hear your suggestions for what DIY project we should take on next in the comments!

Seriously is work of art. Love the detail of not just welding the lip but puddle welding it to make it look standard.
Am excited for this build
@@j490tgm cheers for noticing man, trying not to skimp on the details

Hell no best way to be.
Can't wait to see what's next!!!!
I absolutely love your videos! Your metalworking skills are amazing! It's Dumbledore level of magic. My dream is to grasp some Ron Weasley basics, like, maybe, head to head sheet MIG welding to repair some rust holes in my beloved golf MKIII floor. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Nice work! Love youre videos. Greatings from Germany!

Bravo Bravo Bravo!!!👍😊👏👏👏
Cheers cheers cheers! :)
Looks factory awesome 😎
Cheers dude! That's what we were going for
Hey there just an idea ... would it have not been easier to get another strut tower and seam weld that over the existing tower for structural strength..nothing wrong with what you did I think it's great too
Justin Paul cheers 👍
You are one talented guy! lots of careful meticulous work right there. I probably would have went with lowering springs lol :) What was the final drop? Will there be coilovers etc. added to it in the future?
Thanks very much! The raised strut towers gave an extra 30mm drop. Hoping to put it on air ride if the bank balance allows :)
@@RotboxMetalworks every bit helps! It will ensure your steering geometry will be less affected by lowering it anyway. Do you know what the final stop will be or is 30mm it?
Air ride all the way lots of love from south Africa Johannesburg 🇿🇦 just awesome talent 👏 👌 🙌 ❤️
Nice car i love it
Glad you like it! Cheers!
Did you eliminate the double walled strut towers?
Where did u get the mini tubs from or are they actually MINI tubs? Wicked stuff
Cheers for the comment, I made them specially for this job
That's bloody impressive!
How long did it take?
Cheers Fred! Haha, waaay too long. Maybe 50 hours to do both sides? Filming and working stuff out slows stuff down though so could do it quicker a second time, and if we didn't make the video.
@@RotboxMetalworks no way! Haa yeah, filming does take longer like!
Aww fuck!
