Thank you so much, Ros, for this lovely discussion. The "romance" discussion is quite interesting. I'm excited to read some of Levy's work this month. Hope you enjoy your time away!

The Yorkshire Dales are beautiful. Rather rainy this week so more reading and less exploring and walking.

I'm even more excited to read this book now that I've watched your video! I'm also really interested in reading more about Amy Levy's life, she is an author I knew nothing of before this year's Victober.

I have Miss Meredith to read by this author. This one sounds really good too!! Thank you for talking about it Ros. I hope you enjoy your get away and that you don’t get overwhelmed by all the sheep 😉🐑

@@scallydandlingaboutthebooks I am enjoying it. I like that the sisters are trying to be independent by choosing yo start a business. I was hoping that Amy Levy had incorporated something of the Jewish experience in the story but that does not seem to be the case.

I finished The Romance of a shop and I liked it (4 stars). The ending was a bit cliche but I suppose that would be the ending readers were expecting. I did like that Lucy continued to work as a photographer. Have a good weekend, Alina

This book sounds wonderful! What's wrong with romance and finding love, even if you are a new woman. People put their modern spin on things and ruin womanhood. Women are not meant to do it all and in the end, be all alone. Believe me, I am living that life in my sixties. I have no love and no children. It ain't all that it is cracked up to be. Women cannot have it all, at least not all at one time forever. That's our mistake in being modern.
