As a Nintendo fan myself, I frankly don’t care if y’all emulate, I just find it annoying when emulation gamers get a bit too cocky and intentionally harass fans for no reason
I don't harass, I just get pissed when people like Harman Smith blatantly lie about emulation, I only emulate games to play them with better performance than the native hardware and I ONLY emulate games I actually own, unless there is literally no affordable alternative, I don't make that much money at all, so I can't justify spending potentially hundreds of £'s on the hardware and game when I could very easily spend that money on groceries and some bills, which would leave me with barely any money leftover.
People should just play games they want to play, however they want to play 😭

The feeling is mutual. While I don't think emulation gamers should be getting cocky and harass others, I don't think regular Nintendo fans should be harassing emulation fans either.

Oh no, I'm playing my original golden Zelda cartridge (that still saves) on my perfectly-functional NES; whatever will Nintendo do since I'm not paying them $20/year for Switch Online to play it on the current console that is over 30 years newer??? I use to be a nintendo fanboy, would only play and care about games on nintendo consoles. The thing is that some fanboys are grown adults that haven't changed in years and probably never will, I was 12 and have since changed to appreciate gaming on a broader scope.

As a Nintendo fan, personally, the performance of the games I have on my switch doesn't bother me much. I don't use emulation for the switch since I don't really want to mod my system to dump the games. I do use Dolphin and Citra for modding, but I usually prefer playing on the original hardware, I have bought NES, and GBA games, and a SNES with Super Metroid and SMW in the last year because of this. I do understand why people want to emulate the switch for higher resolutions and framerates.
This is I have to say a VERY sensible way to go about this stuff.
Not to mention that some older games are stupid expensive and for one dumb licensing deal or another can't be ported to new platforms, ever.

Fanboys don't realize emulation isn't hurting Nintendo's bottom line or understand WHY people emulate. They only jump to conclusions and never listen to the other party. This would be solved if Nintendo gets involved with Steam then people would have a resource to buy the games legit on pc and a good amount people won't need to emulate because Steam is more convenient. I love Nintendo's IPs, especially Kirby and Fire Emblem, but I can't help saying the company itself is backwards

@@waffler-yz3gw thats true unless the fps is inconsistent like plenty of Nintendos games, look at botw, Links awakening, totk, even Mario 3D to some extent, mainly the bowsers fury side of the game tho i now play ocarina of time in 1080p 60 fps when natively it runs at 240p 20fps thats a massive jump and make the game Waaaaay more enjoyable to me, especially when playing on an LED/OLED Screen, on a CRT its fine tho

One thing about Nintendo and their fanboys that infuriate me to no end is how they, much like Nintendo, their lord and savior, equate emulation and piracy. They aren't the same thing! But as you said, wait until they learn that Nintendo uses ROMs and emulators for the NSO!
Also, I agree with you that Nintendo should port all of their games to PC and that would get rid of most of their piracy problems right there.

Yuzu didn't even boot TOTK until launch so trying to blame them for all those early downloads is disingenuous and even when it did run, the game was buggy and unstable in the early days. Nintendo fanboys are also conveniently forgetting people can play pirated games on a hacked switch (which people were doing when TOTK was leaked)
And don't forget that new cart that has come out for the Switch that will make it even easier for the Nintendroids to use pirated games.

@@RawrX32009 You need a older model Switch from 2018 in order to do it easily. It involves connecting two pins of the right Joycon rail to trick the Switch into recovery mode to then send a payload to instal custom firmware.

@@dan_the_swag_man6937 it's a shame Disc lasers have a finite life span, the same with bearings in motors and fans....but most of the Parts in a console are pretty reliable unless they're EMMC chips in the Wii U or the 90NM RSX GPU in the PS3 Back Compats

I'm baffled at die-hard nintendo fans. I feel like a lot of them just miss the pre-wii and pre-3DS days. Everything after the wii and 3ds was M I D as hell, and they don't care about rereleasing their games. I'm curious, what is your take about everyone having pay-to-play-online services like Xbox Live, Playstation Plus, and Switch Online?
My thoughts are that back in the Xbox 360 era they made some sense, since online multiplayer was relatively new for consoles, and running these new server types was likely expensive or tedious; but with how easy it is for the common man to run a server, these services are just cash grabs that tempt you with "free" monthly games that, unlike with Epic's giveaways, you can't play in the future if you don't have their online service. When the PS4 came out, I was rather annoyed that they made PS+ the compete with Xbox Live Gold, but I tolerated it. When Nintendo announced their new service after the Switch had been out for a while, that was the straw that broke the camel's back and made me get a gaming PC; at least theirs was only $20 annually and not $60, but still...

I think online subscriptions are an added thing that seems nice but isn't a necessity. The mistake in all this is locking online service behind these subscriptions without an option to have online by itself at much lower costs.
In a similar note, DLC was supposed to be a fantastic idea, but instead of taking a great game at $60 and adding DLC to expand greatness, they're using DLC as a means to lock the rest of the game from you while the $60 experience is lacking in various ways. They ruined a good thing because they didn't give a shit and people were stupid enough to buy it up anyways.

Literally proved my point that people can't see more than a year into the future. Dolphin came out in 2003 and no one's crying about it(except the worst of these guys). Did you know that you can't buy Minecraft Legacy anymore? Switch emulation is already needed, and the preservation point is very real.

This reminds me when many but not all Pokemon fans defended the Dex cut for better animations and models, things promised, and none were gotten but still defended it even after. Then the defense of Scarlet/Violet's many issues.
Nintendo is far from a saint, our own ignorance is what makes them appear good.
For example, Some of their biggest things like their higherups taking paycuts instead of layoffs is actually because they are legally required to do that first if I recall. It isn't some saintly move, they literally have a gun at their head.

Nintendo is one of those companies that have incredible developers, I love most of their newer games, but their management definitely leaves something to be desired. They treat their legacy titles like afterthoughts and their own fans as enemies.
Reminds me of a Destiny/Warhammer 40k video I watched a bit ago, debating which universe would beat the other, and there was this one 40k fanboy who would either laugh at the people bringing up good points about Destiny, or just spout random Emperor nonsense.

My entire policy for emulation is that if I own a console that can play a game I want to play, I will play it on that console, but if I don't, I will gladly emulate. Playing Switch games on my pc when I already have a Switch just feels wrong, but I don't have a GBA, so I'll happily open up MGBA on my PC.
My personal favourite to use is 'commit Sudoku' because the implication is there lol

6:10 It's funny that he says this because unlike those "preservation autistists" there are people who are actually aware that copyright law and the DMCA is complete bullsh*t all because of 2 sections (17 U.S. Code § 117 and 17 U.S. Code § 1201). Once you do a little more digging you find out these sections are responsible for other legal nightmares for why you can't jailbreak, repair, or do anything to bypass DRM that locks your freedom for the item you paid for then... at least you get to pirate to get back at em. Best part of all this nintendo vs emulation and piracy bs is the fact that i used to be a full nintendo simp. I am no longer that after learning about their past bs with customers, and their even worse bs in the modern day that that continues to basically gatekeep their loyal customers (of which they are dwindling rapidly) from even enjoying nintendos actual greatest hits, like mario galaxy 2 (should've been in 3d all-stars.) Now my thoughts are, if i can emulate it, then im gonna emulate it, mainly because its fucking easier, and you get way better quality of life improvements, like resolution, framerate, and even textures/models if you include modding the games, like I do

emulation is also good for playing games you can't get anymore. like Real Steel for the xbox 360. can't buy it physical, can't buy it digital, but you can find the files online and emulate it on your computer. Kabullo needs to touch grass.

You can put a PS2 disc in your pc's disc drive (if youre like me and still have one, ik a lot of people dont but you can get external ones for cheap ^w^) and play it on PCSX2 FROM THAT DISC
nyo ripping required outside of getting your bios (which is fairly easy with things like a cheap FreeMcBoot memcard)
i just bring this up to say that Emulation isnt inherently bad and the people getting on their knees praising the takedown of emulation is such an unfounded sentiment.

I'm a Nintendo fan, but not even I'm doing batshit insane stuff for this, hell half the time I'm playing bimbendo games I'm doing it on my PC, now yes I still own the original hardware, but sometimes I like to play Nintendo games on my computer. (Side note:the games I play are oldschool games anyway, also I am autistic so I slightly take offense to the slader of autism.)
