- For the first time ever in it’s 61-year history the Australian International Billfish Tournament was held in Tasmanian waters!
Teams could nominate up to 7 days fishing within the 14-day competition window, with the entire East Coast of Tasmanian providing the spectacular backdrop to what was a phenomenal event!
From the 30 boats and 107 entrants a total of 29 Swordfish were tagged and released, with many more caught and lost, drawing international acclaim for record-breaking success - putting Tassie on the game fishing map!
This event brought together fishing enthusiasts from across the state and nation sparking widespread excitement and anticipation showcasing the passion of anglers and contributing to a memorable and historic event.
Proudly supported by Meridian Tackle and Seamaster Fishing Supplies, Florless Rods, Undertow Saltwater Apparel and Predator Tackle - this event would not have been possible without your backing and generosity. And to everyone involved in the planning and organisation of this great competition - you did a marvellous job! I hope you enjoy the ride with us as we successfully tag and release 2 Broadbill Swordfish on our 2nd nominated day of fishing.. if you think that is good, then stay tunned for part two!! @itswizza

Who needs to hook ‘em when you lasso them! You go cowgirl! ;)
Every "small fish" (under 100kg) has been lassoed. It didn't matter if I used a small bait or a big one. Some lucky catches!
Bloody rippa
Part two, the best part - up now! 😁
