I remember someone who interviewed one of the spokespeople for Rolls Royce about the spectre and said the range was bad and what if the owner wanted to travel 300 miles and back in a day? The spokesperson said well in that case they would take their helicopter. Great response. 👍
It’s incredible when you review something how you always get the essential point of it. In Germany we call it the Quintessenz of it. Thank you very much. I’m not surprised that the infotainment system is so good because of the fact that the car manufacturing part of Rolls Royce belongs to BMW. Such an expensive car, but the trunk button is the same as in my BMW X4.
in english we have whats called "quintessential" which is used to describe something that is a typical example/nessecary part of something else! kind of ahaha
8:09 Why don't more electric cars design their dashboards like this? There are plenty of us who prefer the analog look, as opposed to a cluster(fxxx) of numbers, graphs, and illustrations of lane assist!
Rolls Royce is doing the controls right. every electric car seems to be obsessed with making the entire dashboard/controls interface on a touch screen, which is neither good for safety nor for ease of user..
Screens show more info but knowing more doesn’t necessarily mean a better experience I think. The heating controls for example why is the exact temp more important than how you intuitively feel? I know the spectre doesn’t show how hot the cabin is.
Marques called the S-Class a luxury car but that's premium with a luxury loom and feel. Rolls Royce and Bentley are true luxury brands because they put importance on real materials and as much handcrafted or finely crafted parts as possible. Marques talked about how smooth the air vents moved but brushed over what he demonstrated that they actually were metal. On an S-class, 7-series etc they might be plastic with a metal look. I think Rolls Royce at least will resist pure touchscreen controls because the customers want the tactility, tradition and as a brand they don't need to cut costs by reducing physical controls.
I have driven both the S Class and the latest Bentley Bentayga. They are both Luxury cars. Bentley Bentayga also have lots of plastic, but cost 3 times the price of the S class. I can tell you it’s not smoother to drive than a S class. Yes they have more hand finished items and more expensive carpet, but the leather look and feel Similar. The Mercedes is the best value Luxury car you can buy, anything over that and it’s just about status, and money no object. The Bentley cost £1300 for a standard oil service. Elon musk put everything on a screen to cut costs, now people think it’s better. As a model Owner, my car would be much better with some buttons. Not safe going into the screen menu for everything. The buttons will come back on the higher end cars like Mercedes and BMW
@bossman4401 I wonder if that's down to the Bentayga being the sister car to the Toureg, Cayenne, Q8, Q7 and Urus and one of the last on that platform. I feel BMW let's Rolls Royce be as bespoke as possible and more exclusive as well as the pinnacle whereas Bentley is apparently below or was below Bugatti and then maybe shares more from the VAG parts bin.
@@CDN_Store I Didn’t mention RR. RR is the Ultimate Luxury car. They play by their own rules, However the Mercedes Maybach is the most comfortable car you can sit in, they have the best seats that can recline in any position for your comfort.
I am quite astonished that a car like the electric Rolls-Royce Spectre, costing half a million dollars, doesn't plug itself into the socket. That's unbelievable.
Nearly 7,000 lbs is unthinkably ridiculous for a coupe. Like unfathomably heavy. It weighs pretty much the same as a Cybertruck, and a Chevy Suburban weighs over 1,000 lbs less than both. God help us all if these things crash into anything.
I wish you could get a car with the quiet cab and cloud suspension but cheap out on the rest, basic fabric seats and none of the chrome... I'm poor but would love a quiet soft car, lol. Absolutely in love with the purple tho
Can't speak on suspension, but some speaker shops will add that sound foam to the doors for an extra charge. Actually made a significant difference when I did it and it wasn't that expensive.
Love Marques' reviews - his voice is so calming in this crazy world. But I am kind of shocked that there are almost a million views of an electric Rolls Royce review in just 3 days.
When I was kid growing up, my dream car was a Ferrari, but honestly after becoming an adult I'm absolutely mesmerised by Rolls Royce. I highly doubt I'd ever be able sit in one, let alone afford one, but the Rolls Royce Phantom is my dream car. I really like what they've done with the Phantom, and I do wonder if there's an EV version of it coming out before the end of this decade.
@@CovKid2K10I wouldn’t be surprised if he was advised against it from rolls royce themselves. I doubt there are many cleaners that can be trusted with this kind of car.
When I used to work valet a while back, I got to drive a Spectre. Coming from a tuner background, all of my cars had track-tuned suspension, while driving the Spectre felt like I was literally driving a cloud. That's the only way I could describe it; the car feels like it's floating.
BMW now own RR, but each car is still hand-crafted in Goodwood, England. A few parts are German but the craftsmanship is English and still of the highest quality. Wonderful car.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that BMW/Rolls stayed true to their interior design language here. This is more proof that giant screens and digital controls do not equal luxury. Interacting with tactile, substantial feeling controls is so much more pleasing than pecking around on a screen. To really get into the weeds; even their philosophy on climate control is wonderful. No finicky temp setting buttons or excessive displays. Slide the wheel into the blue for colder, or into the red for warmer. It’s just better. Simple, elegant, perfect.
Other reviewers: have to make sure to give the car a wash so it looks presentable in shots. Marques: yeah, let me off-road this half a million-dollar car through some shit before I start filming
Yea, but its only for the beginning the BYD Seal accelerates faster. Then, after a bit less than a quarter mile, the Tesla Model 3 starts to accelerate faster and overtake the BYD Seal.
This is the first Rolls Royce I've ever wanted! Would have loved to have been a passenger while you did this review. THANKS for a look at the car I will never be able to afford. But I can still dream...
I suspect you don't need much range in a car like this, because anything over around 100 miles and you'll just take your private jet. The quietness is an interesting novelty, but I wouldn't want it, myself. For general awareness of surroundings, its better if the cabin isn't completely soundproof.
This is the best review of a Rolls Royce, the best review of a dumpster in the background. That's exactly how reviews should be done, there's no need to wash it. Ideally, it should have had poop on the roof. Perfect! Bravo.🤣🤣 These are precisely the kinds of reviews we deserve, buy a car for half a million dollars, and there will be no money left for a car wash.
Need more purple cars. I had a purple Neon almost 25 years ago, I loved it. Purple is slowly coming back on some manufacturers' trims recently, though, so there is hope.

I remember someone who interviewed one of the spokespeople for Rolls Royce about the spectre and said the range was bad and what if the owner wanted to travel 300 miles and back in a day? The spokesperson said well in that case they would take their helicopter. Great response. 👍
The only question that comes to my mind and probably everyone's mind is why didn't @mkbhd get the car cleaned before this review.
a drive from the car wash to his film spot would make the car like that. I live in Jersey, I would know
@@scootinhootin6928 I do live in Jersey as well. 😀 I hear you. But MKBHD might have an explanation for this. Might be a surprise 😉
I doubt there are many cleaners that can be trusted with a Rolls Royce, I'm guessing he was adviced against it.
I came here to make the same comment about cleaning the car, but yeah, I agree that maybe you can’t trust this kind of car to any random car wash.
RR’s press team should have sorted out a way to get it safely washed before a shoot.
Producer: And yes one more thing, don't forget to call it soft
Marques: Bet
It’s incredible when you review something how you always get the essential point of it. In Germany we call it the Quintessenz of it. Thank you very much. I’m not surprised that the infotainment system is so good because of the fact that the car manufacturing part of Rolls Royce belongs to BMW. Such an expensive car, but the trunk button is the same as in my BMW X4.
in english we have whats called "quintessential" which is used to describe something that is a typical example/nessecary part of something else! kind of ahaha
@robertferwagner3051 You forgot to mention that it is largely hand-crafted in England.
@@henrydodson655 You are right. 👍
@@briantitchener4829 especially the infotainment and the trunkbutton. Of course.
@@robertferwagner3051Surely an English-crafted Rolls has a button for opening the 'boot' not the trunk, even if it does come from a cheap X4!
I love how quiet it sounds. One of my favorite features of this for sure
Never wanted a RR till now. It's BEAUTIFUL!
i'm jealous of that quietness lol my model 3 with 19" wheels is so incredibly loud, the road noise is just crazy and you feel every bump
My model 3 with 19" wheels is fine :/
I think the Model S is quieter.
Hello Rich cunts. I'm-$2k..... fant even afford a 5th hand 1866 corolla. Lol 😢
You knew that before buying it. If you didn't you didn't do your research.
Ah yes because everyone would totally think to google "are the 19 inch tesla wheels loud" JUST IN CASE if they didn't know
Let's make a drinking game where you must take a tequila shot every time when Marques says "soft".
Never noticed how much MKBHD looks like a younger Big Daddy Kane. Now I cant unsee it. I guess he gets the job done :)
Wow thanks I will never get this out of my head. lol
I like that the interior is tactile and not all touch screen like a Tesla or something
"if you're asking the question, you probably cant afford it" why do us like this? 😭😭😭
He’s absolutely right though. I hate it but he’s right 😂
if you're asking the question, you DEFINITELY can't afford it.
Really shouldn’t feel bad for not having $500,000 to drop on a car. That makes you just like 99.999% of people
@@jabrokneetoeknee6448kinda makes me feel worse, I don’t want to be like everyone else
8:09 Why don't more electric cars design their dashboards like this? There are plenty of us who prefer the analog look, as opposed to a cluster(fxxx) of numbers, graphs, and illustrations of lane assist!
We need a "Soft" counter in this video 😂
That's unbelievable.

you can clean it easily...don't worry
Nearly 7,000 lbs is unthinkably ridiculous for a coupe. Like unfathomably heavy. It weighs pretty much the same as a Cybertruck, and a Chevy Suburban weighs over 1,000 lbs less than both. God help us all if these things crash into anything.
It has the brakes but yeah, if this gets out of control.... oh no.
... not to mention the 9,000-pound Hummer EV!
They made it weigh so much so that if it crashes, it feels nice and soft. Just plow the other car out of the way like it's not even there
I doubt anyone of us will ever encounter one on the road. There are more dangerous shotboxes on the road to worry about

@@stevensonrc ohh, yes, that’s exactly what I’m talking about! I wonder if I can get one in the US…
@@stevensonrc i think also C4 Cactus has a progressive hydraulic suspension. Super smooth, and the car is rather cheap for a city crossover.
Can't speak on suspension, but some speaker shops will add that sound foam to the doors for an extra charge. Actually made a significant difference when I did it and it wasn't that expensive.
Just get sound deadening mats and stick it on every panel or else that won’t happen bc that takes time and money for a manufacturer to do
My 5K Honda Civic is still going strong after 200k miles. Picked up my current wife with it!
I really like what they've done with the Phantom, and I do wonder if there's an EV version of it coming out before the end of this decade.

how could you not clean this beauty before filming it :(
Pretty embarrassing. If I was rolls press I wouldn’t be happy

Yea very beautiful color way but looks terrible.

Marques is the only TH-camr that can get a Rolls-Royce dirty and still record the video 😂
When I used to work valet a while back, I got to drive a Spectre. Coming from a tuner background, all of my cars had track-tuned suspension, while driving the Spectre felt like I was literally driving a cloud. That's the only way I could describe it; the car feels like it's floating.
I reckon Marques should do an official video review of this car as well, as it costs close to a million dollars lol....
Its a half a million in USD, but more than a million here in Australia! Its because of the transport cost and all to
The umbrella thing is not a RR exclusive. Cheaper European car brand Skoda is doing it also for years as well as a ice scrapper on the gas lid.
Marques in 99% of the video: soft, quiet, soft, soft, soft ... 😶🌫️🔥
5:54 fun fact they made it even quieter for a while but people complained to them because it was so quite it was uncanny
The dash recording thing is actually just a standard BMW feature, which you can activate by triple tapping the parking sensor button

The reason is that even if he cleaned it, it would get instantly get covered in salt going literally anywhere, so that's why
BMW now own RR, but each car is still hand-crafted in Goodwood, England. A few parts are German but the craftsmanship is English and still of the highest quality. Wonderful car.
you answer questions that I want to know, but did not know that I want to know. You are an excellent reviewer.
I love the way they didn't just stick a 12-inch tablet, it gives the car character
Why am I seeing so much Porter Robinson today?!😂 8:03
OMG I thought the spec The Smoking Tire was insane! That purple and silver is so freaking sick!!

I like that it looks a little dirty and used, like it didn't just come off the lot
