The Great mezzo-soprano with her unique timbre and extremely rare range has died aged 86!!! Hope she Rest in Peace!! Here is a little tribute from me! She really did it her way!!! 🥰
Heartbroken. I thought she'd be around forever. She was my first Eboli, Amneris, Dalila, Azucena and Carmen. She was one of the true greats of the Twentieth Century.
@@OperaMyWorld We really do. I know I have experienced such a change in how I live life since covid that music has suffered more than anything else. I must try harder to resume old habits!
Unforgettable Amneris ( probably the best ever), Verdi Requiem and Tosca in San Juan between 1971-1972 with other giants such as Arroyo, a young Domingo, Diaz and Mehta. RIP Maestra.
Saw her Forzas at The Met in the 80s. And a kitschy Medea at City Opera. The maestro was clearly out of his element in Medea-but she set the stage ablaze!
@@ABCDuwachui You're right, I checked that just after my comment. However, I'm afraid that I don't consider Price such a great singer, since I think she developed, very early in her career, serious emission problems.
@@edivaD62 Yeah, they're true divas, but did they reach such a high level? I'm listening to many Arroyo's recordings and no one gives me the impression that she was more than a good singer.

Einzigartig
🙏💔
🥰😔

Was she the last true diva to leave us? Is there anyone still alive? May this great singer and charming lady rest in peace.
Leontyne Price is still with us. 😊

Raina Kabaivanska (b. 1934), Martina Arroyo (b. 1937).
