Those dies are made to be used in hydraulic presses, which I've done - but I had no idea you could just hammer on them and get the same effect without the investment in a press! Presses are very expensive (plus the cost of the dies, of course), take up a lot of space, need a sturdy table or workbench to sit on, and are not very portable because they are so big and heavy, so they aren't that practical to have in a small home studio for a lot of reasons unless you're sure you're going to get a *lot* of use out of them. Thank you, Patti; you have just opened up a whole lot of new options for me, including doing repeats and variations of pieces I've done in a press at classes, without the capital outlay! Do you work with bronze at all when doing these wire bangles? Is it a lot harder to work? I love the look, but am a bit scared of it.
Hi Wendy, when I first discovered that these dies can be used with a hammer, I was just as surprised as you! Thank you for writing! If we can ever be of service to you, please feel free to contact us through www.wubbersu.com.
Please kindly tell us which kind of wire brand you use, gauge 14 as you said but where we can buy it online, thank you, where we can buy the press, and all the tools you use there
Thank you for watching! You can buy wire at any jewelry supply business. I used dead soft sterling silver, dead soft bare copper, and dead soft brass wire. www.RioGrande.com carries some nice 1-pound spools of bare copper wire, and they are excellent values. The tools can be purchased at www.wubbersushop.com. If the bangle presses happen to be out of stock, drop an email to the store and let them know to add you to the waiting list. The bangle presses have been so popular that they are hard to keep in stock! Please let us know if we can help further.
Kate Neal I am not sure why you are not able to see the video. I did find this link helpful that has some reasons that may be behind your trouble: support.google.com/youtube/answer/1230977?hl=en
This is an AMAZING talent. WOW!
Could the same be done with a thicker gauge wire?
