That's not true at all. As a mother with a child in elementary, I can very much guarantee you that writing, spelling and vocabulary are still taught and is vital in advancing to the next grade.
I tell my kids all the time this generation & those to come won’t be able to have normal conversations. Everything is text/social media & they put extra letter in short words like okkk or shorten words they prob can’t spell. 🤦🏾♀️
We teach it. Parents don't reinforce it.

They spelled apologize correctly for their region. In the UK and other British colonies it's spelled APOLOGISE. Like how check is spelled Cheque.

I remember when I first moved to Atlantic City, NJ in 2018. I got a job at Caesars Entertainment in the parking garage. I was watching the weather last night on our local news. The very lovely young lady doing the weather pronounced the state next to us "Illinoiz" (That's right. She pronounced the 's' in Illinois.) She then said, "more colder" and then "more quieter". I was sure one had to go to college to be a meteorologist...even in a small market like ours. She's in her 20s, so college is now graduating people, who CAN'T speak properly, properly pronounce states right next door or find a town 40 miles north of where she she is on a map. Our 17 year old daughter could do it better.
