I rescued a hummingbird that was entangled in big spider web. As the little fella was happily flying off he stopped, huvvered right in front of me to thank me before he flew away.
That is actually a normal thing that hummingbirds do. It's called torpor. They lower their body temperature down really low and they fall into a deep sleep kind of thing. They eventually wake up and have lots of energy. The hummingbirds actually do that to build up energy because of how fast their hearts beats. Still an awesome video!
Thank you for the information. Now I understand what went on in my case with a seemingly dead or hurting Hummer who was found by cleaning crew last year. He flew off after I gave q-tip dipped in nectar etc. in the end.
I first met the hummingbirds when I house swapped from Australia to Palm Springs California. I fell completely in love with them. I went back every year or two and fed them. I held the feeder and they would feed. I would wear bright red and purple sweaters to attract them.Sometimes one would fly and hover in my face. Precious!
Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. I love hummingbirds also and look forward to the short time each year they come to visit Louisiana. I'm so grateful for people that shows love to nature and one of God's greatest gifts to man, animals. We share a kindred spirit my friend.
beautiful. I had a somewhat similar experience. I lived in Lancaster, PA autumn and painting the detached garage. About noon. I noticed a bumble bee crawl out of the grass, walk up a few inches on the side of the garage and tumble off. It appeared to be having some difficulty and picked it up and placed it on a paint can where it lay on it's back with it's legs attempting to right itself. I concluded that possibly some food could help aleve what ailed and went into the house for some honey and a toothpick. I fed the bumble bee. After a short while the bee flew up to my eye level and hovered for a few seconds. Then it circled my head quickly once and hovered again about a foot in front of my eyes. We just looked at each other for a few seconds. Then it circled my head quickly 3 times, returned in front of me, hovered for a few seconds and flew away. I believe it was saying Thank You.
Emilie Travis do you know that 9 types of bees have been placed on the endangered species list and that it is estimated that when the bees completely die out humans will die out within 2 - 5 years?
I used to find bees "sleeping" all the time in San Francisco. All I did was set them on a warm window cill and they would wake up and fly away. I think it was a temporary reaction to cold weather.
Unkraut60 ~ I've personally had experiences like that with a number of creatures who indeed come back to say thank you in their way that was quite obvious that they were just doing that, Its quite possible that you don't give nature enough credit for its intelligence & ability to show gratefulness... perhaps this is why you yourself have never had the joy of experiencing it. Open your mind, open your heart you will be surprised at the miracles nature has to share with you. Its pretty cool to interact with it but you have to be both patient & nurturing. Worth checking out for yourself.
They could be cold blooded like snakes and lizards,i have picked up a little green snake laying behind an oil storage tank held him in my hands for a minute, and he warmed up and start slithering around in my hands, natures pretty cool.
Despite some saying that the Bird was in it's sleep cycle, and we DON'T know this for sure, the fact that the branch it was clinging to had broken off, and since I don't know the location of the tree it came from, I have to assume it was quite a fall. His feathers also looked wet to me, and falling from a tree while holding a branch could have injured it some. It definitely would have been vulnerable to predators, like the neighborhood stray cat... or any Raptors that might live in the area. We occasionally see a Hawk in our area, or once, even an Owl. So you DID save it. The one thing I have never seen, except for a brief glimpse, is a Hummingbird. I would pay a Kings Ransom to be able to do what you did. LOVE the video!
I agree with you. Hummers go into the torpor state only when they need to conserve energy. If a hummer is in torpor when the ambient temperature isn't too low, it means it's running at a really low energy reserve. It may never "wake up" if it's not warmed up and fed soon before its energy completely runs out. I advice finders to raise the hummer's body temperature ASAP. You can do one of the three things: 1. Place it in the direct sun until it starts to revive, and then move it to a semi-shade area to prevent over-heating. 2. Use a low-noise blow dryer. This is the fastest way and you're in the position to feed the(humming)bird easily. Hold it in you hand (so you know it's not burning hot), rock the blower dryer back and forth to prevent scolding to warm the bird up. 3. Use an incandescent lamp. Again, make sure you move the lamp back some when the bird starts to revive. Keep an eye when the bird start to regain consciousness. After you feed it and it looks alert, you should move it to outdoors so you won't end up with having to deal with a hummer got trapped in your garage/home. One more important reminder: do not force hummer's feet to release from the branch. Their feet latch on the perching surface during torpor. You can easily fracture their toes or joints of the legs.
Torpor ~ Who knew! Thanks, Hannie for making this video and sharing your experience. And thanks, Sara Rose, for teaching one new thing today! Two thumbs up for both you ladies! *grin*
I saw a video about this just recently. Apparently humming birds use so much energy hovering etc that they literally don't sleep in order to feed enough. Every so often they go into what is called torpor which is shutting their bodies down like this, in order to rest. Certainly makes them vulnerable though, to be found by someone/something who doesn't want to help like this kind person did. They're adorable little birds.
Because until Jesus returns, this is Satan’s world! Satan is the invisible god of this world. He is the author of its organization, its basic philosophies, its systems of government, business, society-yes, and religions.
I live in Florida and have several hummingbird feeders in the yard. We get them all the time. The other day though I was in a public park that is located on the harbor and didn't expect to see any there. There was a truck parked there painted bright red. Hummingbirds love the color red which is why their feeders are usually painted red. To my amazement they were swarming the truck. There was about 10-15 of them and to my further amazement when i approached the truck they swarmed me and I wasn't even wearing red. One perched on my shoulder and two perched on my outstretched hand. Based on this behavior and my experience in the past with hummingbirds I am fairly certain someone has been interacting with this particular flock of hummingbirds. They did this for about twenty minutes before they decided to move on. Next time I'm taking my camera.
How precious, thank you for your care. Recently I had the privilege of helping one of these beautiful beings. As I was exiting a Home Depot I happened to look down to spot a Hummingbird looking up at me. At first I struggled to make sense of what was going on but it seems it was showing me that it's teenie beak was wrapped shut with spider webs! I scooted it's little tail feathers as it walked onto my cupped hand. Standing in my hand, looking up at me was this desperate little creature. I can't believe the bravery that was displayed by asking help of a monstrosity.....After a few small tugs with my fingers, the webbing slipped off and the little beauty took to the skies...Luckily my Wife was back from a purchase and got a brief moment as well - she loves Hummingbirds so. After the bird took off, we were frightened for a moment as a larger bird shot out of the sky in intercept mode. The little one just avoided the maneuver and escaped. Phew...All was right in the world. Now we both have a few more nice memories. Thank you LORD! Thanks again.
donktheclown... what a wonderful story! That little gaffer knew he/she was in safe hands when asking you for help! And synchronicity definitely played a part at putting you in the right place at the right time! That precious little hummer trusted you and please be honored by that rare and HUGE compliment given you!
Thank you!....watching you lovingly help this beautiful creature was so heart warming. Sure hope this vid goes viral, as all people in the world need reminding that they too can love and be loved. Blessings and Love,
Wow....I was holding my breath through the happy ending !! Thank you for your compassion and persistence...your little dog sure helped !!! Thank you again!!!
I believe that the animals are a blessing from our Lord but no matter your faith you must see the divinity that shines out of them. As we said the last time in school, real nice engineering. They are a marvel.
Topor: A state of reduced metabolic activity so the hummingbird can survive through the night without starving to death? Possibly in recovery from a long Gulf Ocean Crossing!
I loved the look on your dog's little face when the bird started fluffing up! Brilliant camera work, too. If you haven't already, I think you should definitely do more film making because apart from the beautiful story, I also really enjoyed that aspect of this video. Thanks! :-)
Thank you for saving him..He was obviously very dehydrated..I have been rescuing all types of animals for years, a lot of people underestimate these creatures as with the love of your little dog. Much love and light to you.
I'm glad the bird lived. But I think if it had dropped to the ground your little Terrier Mix would have likely tried to eat it. Terriers were trained to go after small things in holes in the ground. That is how the breed started. Assisting hunters. Please, please don't let your little dog near another sick or injured animal no matter how much you may trust the dog. Instinct is instinct. It could have turned out much worse. I wouldn't want that for you. You have a kind heart.
+Daniel Halley Thanks! I thought so as well. Life can be full of amazing experiences especially when dealing with the animal kingdom. I have some other footage of myself making friends with wild ostrich's that my dog and I came across one day. She just stood right next to me while I thru out peanuts for these awesome wild birds to eat. At the time, I didn't even know what kind of birds they were, but it was really fun hanging out with them. I'll have to get busy and posting all these videos I have.
Thx for taking considerable time to help a creature in distress. So many people would have walked on by. You have earned a star in your crown in heaven. Maybe one day people won't be so cruel or apathetic or narcissistic. Until then all God's creatures will depend on the few people who care.
For everyone who has trouble coping with life, turn to the animal kingdom, and there you'll find your troubles weren't so bad after all. Thanks for commenting!
It's called sleep. Hummingbirds are like birds on crack. Unless you see it in an accident. Leave it be. There metabolism is so high when they shutdown they shutdown. Better off leaving it be and make sure that cats are inside. Save a lot more wildlife that way.
I absolutely cried watching this. And your dogs love most definitely urging the bird on, I believe helped save this sweet soul. Thank you for being the kind of person that would take the time to save this little love. Much love to you and your sweet pup. 💞💞💞
Hi Andy! Thanks for commenting! Some people "experts" say the hummer was in what is called Torpor. I think maybe it was, but I also like to think I was at the right place at the right time. Looking out for my little hummers. Sort of like your Abstract Painting & classes were for me! Heehee. I'll be visiting your channel and website more after the Holiday's too. At some point I'd like to show you my watercolor abstracts . I'd like to know what you think and if YOU would you call them abstract or simply mixed media. Thanks again!
Thanks! I have a few Acrylic & Watercolors posted on my Redbubble Art Page. I have more I've yet to post. The Acrylic Abstracts shown, were not painted on Canvas. Most of my Redbubble Page's consists of Landscape & Macro Photography. www.redbubble.com/people/haniebcreations/collections/480307-acrylic-and-watercolor-paintings You can access my Redbubble Profile from the links on YT Main Page if you so desire. Thanks again!
HanieB.(C.~)reations I was selling on Etsy years ago but then when I got into some galleries, they asked me not to sell on Etsy.I'm really much more focused on my Online Courses now, it's exciting to have thousands of students in over 130 countries. My commercial interests at this point are centered on scalable digital products, and services, rather than physical items. That's why I was asking about Red Bubble. I have made a few sales on Fine Art America, they have a similar print program, but I haven't yet compared the costs between the two, or the features.
Dogs are so aware of the conditions of other species. Their sensory sensitivity is virtually limitless. We are just beginning to utilize this diagnostic ability for preemptive human health conditions. But that dog really exemplified that trait! Thanks for sharing!
+Daniel Halley She sure did, and she amazes me ! I don't think most humans give our animal kingdom nearly enough credit. Thanks for your comments and appreciations. Hopefully I'll get those other videos edited and up soon. HanieB.
Vida Love...Owners may know their dogs, but on the other hand, we need to think of the injured animal and what must be going on in their mind. To them a dog is a predator and they would obviously feel frightened being so close while in a helpless state. In my opinion, it would be in the injured animals best interest to keep our animals (even friendly ones) at bay.
Bless your heart ❤️ One time I came home and I looked in the pan of water I put out for the birds to bathe in and there was a bumble bee that wasn't moving at all ,I figured it fell in from off my butterfly bush...I felt so heartbroken,I lifted it out and it layed lifeless. I prayed and asked The Lord to forgive me because I inadvertently caused its death.....in a minute after that the bumble bee came to life and flew away. 🐝
Sylvia Kovessy God is Good. Cool story, thank you. My granddaughters salamander was dead when I went to feed it cuz they were out of town. So I got on my knees lifted my hands to Heaven prayed and he gasped and came back to life. Was so wonderful, I was in awe of God's Love. ✝❤. Still am.
OH, OUR FATHER LOVES ALL THE CREATURES HE MADE FOR US TO CARE FOR. HE WANTED US TO LEARN HOW TO LOVE AND CARE FOR ALL THE CREATURES. OUR BEES ARE BEING KILLED ON PURPOSE BY EVIL MEN WHO WILL NOT STOP SPRAYING POISONS.WHEN I WAS IN THE ARMY I HAD TO RUN ERRANDS FOR SOMEONE ONE MORNING AND AS I WALKED PAST THE MEDICAL BUILDING I FOUND THE MOST AMAZING PASTEL GREEN MOTH WITH BURGUNDY AND GOLD AND BLACK CIRCLING EACH OTHER ON THE BODY WHICH LOOKED LIKE HE WAS WEARING A WHITE FUR COAT. ONE SET OF ANTENNA LOOKED LIKE GOLD FEATHERS AND THE OTHERS WERE SOFT BLACK. IT WAS AS LARGE AS BOTH MY HANDS OUTSTRETCHED PUT TOGETHER. BUGS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A HOBBY BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THAT I STOPPED TO ADMIRE IT'S BEAUTY IS HOW I NOTICED ONE WING WAS TORN AND IT COULD NO LONGER FLY SO I TOOK HIM INTO THE CLINIC AND ASKED IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME. THEY KNEW ME PRETTY WELL SO WEREN'T TOO SURPRISED. THE SGT IN CHARGE ENTERED HIM into THE LOG AS PRIVATE MOTH AND USED SUPER GLUE TO BRING THE PIECES TOGETHER AND AFTER IT DRIED I PUT IT ON A BUSH OUTSIDE A CLINIC WINDOW SO EVERYONE COULD WATCH IT'S FLIGHT. IT FLEW PERFECTLY. I WAS A BIT BUSY DURING BASIC SO DIDN'T GET TO ENJOY TOO MUCH NATURE BUT ONE DAY WE WERE IN THE FOREST RUNNING COURSES AND I LOOKED UP TO SEE EVERY TREE IN THE FOREST WITH A PIECE OF SILK OR WHATEVER IT'S MADE WITH A COCOON HANGING THERE LIKE GOD HAD DECORATED THE PLACE JUST FOR ME. THEY WERE ALL SIZES OF COCOONS AND WHITE FROM A DISTANCE, UP CLOSE YOU COULD SEE ALL THE COLOURS IN THE WORLD INSIDE. I HAVE NEVER FOUND ANYTHING ABOUT THIS IN ANY BOOK I HAVE LOOKED IN AND AM STILL LOOKING. THE DIs DESCENDED ON ME BEFORE I COULD GET MUCH MORE INVESTIGATING DONE.
That's terrific. I love hummingbirds. In fact, that's the very same type of hummingbird I had coming to my feeders last summer. They have not shown up again except now and then... I guess they are all partking of the nectar from the local flowers around right now. Thank you for doing what you did (and your sweet dog too).
God Bless you and your dog for doing all you did for this little beauty.......with all the bad in the news you touched my heart tonight..............thanks from upstate NY
Micheal Campbell because some men are greedy pigs who sell things like elephant tusks. Lots of people care more about hurting them than loving them like she did. Bless her heart..it mattered to that little almost dead Hummer. ✝
Sometimes a humming bird will eat nectar that has been left fermenting due to lazy home owners who don't change the feeder on a a regular basis or it can be due to excessive heat. This causes sugar water to turn into pure grain alcohol . Birds don't know any better especially when there hungry as well as young . This will cause death in a good portion of the young. As well as adult birds. Showing some of the same behavior as in this video as well . Thank you for your kindness and support you provided to this amazing wonder called the Humming bird!!
Yeah I know what you mean. I see dirty hummingbird feeders all over the place. I think I'm going to do a video on this very topic! Thank you for your comment.
I was thinking it was a mommy bird that had been up all night feeding its babies. They do fly at night and its an amazing story! I had never heard of a sleep cycle , learn something new everyday...I LOVE IT!
Your heart must of felt as "big as Dallas" once you saw him slowly regaining strength! Time well spent! Must of been among the most gratifying moments in your life to see him come back from the brink:) I've been feeding hummers every summer for quite some time now. Once you dedicate yourself to doing so, it's taking on a quite a responsibility. One thing is for sure, I make certain the feeder and it's contents are kept extremely clean and free of anything that can cause contamination. I never hesitate to prepare a fresh batch of nectar. In fact strangely enough I just saw my first hummer of the season at my feeder yesterday (April 30th). I am concerned because typically they arrive around the 2nd week of May so that's two weeks earlier than typical here in Michigan. He may of been passing through because I did not notice any activity at the feeder today. I bring the feeder in at night so the nectar can become room temperature, then hang it back outdoors first thing in the morning. It's still going down into the 40's at night. It's been unseasonably cool here this week but there is a prediction the migration is early this year:) Thanks for the links, I'll definitely check them out. I've read up quite a bit on hummers but there's always something you can get out of new articles. We have mostly Ruby Throats around here. Thanks for sharing! Your pup was a great help too!
+Lori A haha! Yes. Thank you for stopping by to comment. I'm learning about hummingbirds, and birds in general. I think someone else may have sent you links, and perhaps mine was one of them. But Thank you for stopping by to watch, and comment. If you would like to subscribe, I will be posting other videos of footage I've captured of my crazy funny dog, and some real experiences I've had with wild ostriches.
What a sweet and wonderful gesture, to save a tiny helpless creature. Now, if humans started caring for other humans in the same way, what a difference that would also make.
Should be put in a quiet stable warm environment, not balanced on a wobbly stick in the wind....probably scared of the dog aswell, surprised its heart took all that....but a deffinate like for the rescue and love tho :)
+Rich Williams Yeah. It was spontaneous for sure. I didn't know what to do, the stick was wobbly because I was trying to record. The bird stayed around for a while, but I've not seen him this year. I'm sad. YOU ARE A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER! I'm listening to you now as I write this note. Clean, crisp, and clear. Nice.
+Rich Williams I know, I LOVE them too! I think I may have shared the wrong video to twitter. You play guitar? It's confusing cause I thought I clicked on your channel that lead me to someone playing guitar.
+Rich Williams Yeah. Ok good. You're good. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the hummingbird. I miss that particular bird. He stuck around for a while. I haven't seen him since last year sometime. It's strange because all the birds made it thru the winter, (so I thought) but then after some heavy rains many of them just disappeared. I keep hoping they will come back. That particular bird in the video, he was older bird. I named him fluffy.
HannieB. I'm going to check out your other video too...the updated & edited one. FIRST THOUGH. I love birds 🐦 🐦 🐦 and I'm so very glad to see that you did some research and then offered links to that research to educate others a little more & show people how to care for a hummingbird. I think that's fantastic and we need more people like you in the world. Right on! I hope you get to enjoy more hummingbirds.
I had a sweet dog like that! She was the sweetest dog I ever had! Of course I raised her from a very early age, Her mother was hit by a car while she was still nursing, she was a tiny chiuhaua, so tiny I didn't think she'd make it! But I bottle fed her and she thrived! I think she thought she was a human baby? She couldn't have been 2 weeks old when her mother was run over! She was 14 years old when she passed away, It nearly killed me , I'll always remember my sweet baby girl pup, That I raised on a bottle , God I miss her, Where ever I went she went too! Everybody loved to have her visit them! She was so sweet and polite! And well mannered! My perfect baby girl!

i understand perfectly... a dog is not sinful and that combined with your own effort made the difference... however i do warn you with my own story... a strange looking bird much larger but a long nose i found in st louis and tried to help it... it did die but i also didnt realize why... H1N1 is the cause... when handling the unknown PLEASE WEAR GLOVES and clean well afterward my compassion got me in trouble as i ran a 108 temp while homeless after and it was only the extreme cold that i survived... please continue to be compassionate but take caution as well god bless you... it is marked the saving of but a bird.. for you and your dog
sinful dog? LOL No No No ... human almost killed the bird ... all for the sake of an internet video...read the posts and learn the words "torpor" and "dogs live to sniff", not to help humans ...
Please guys. See this version of the video. It's much better to watch and understand. th-cam.com/video/nwjGT5zLEK4/w-d-xo.html Much of what I was trying to communicate thru the video was cut off. I have subtitles that explain better what was happening. ALSO help the viewer who might be interested in helping hummingbirds learn more. Thanks for watching, and for all concerned. Please educate yourself on these wonderful amazing little guys. They need us, as much as WE NEED THEM.
MrSmcstevesmc Yes. I know what you mean. Believe it or not there are still very wonderful people who are caring for these little guys and other birds. I was lucky enough to think to grab my cell phone camera and record what I thought in the moment was a miracle. It wasn't an easy task either as the recording speaks for itself. Thank you for watching, noticing, and commenting!
HanieB.(C.~)reations that was an amazing act of love on your part Saving it because it was #REAL, and you just made my night so much better. God bless you tons, what you did was such a good thing. 🙃✝❤
No thanks due to a mythical divinity...best replaced with a sincere plea for more education...so this sad human learns not to interfere with nature for the sake of a stupid human video. The dog was pimped.
I haven't gone through all the of the comments, but this was probably actually just a normal sleeping session. They actually have this BEAUTIFUL documentary (I WISH I could remember the name...) on Humming birds where they've finally learned more about them and when they DO sleep they COMPLETELY PASS OUT! UNCONSCIOUS (most hanging up-side-down!)! This can put them in danger. So most of their lives they are constantly 'on the go' drinking nectar every 15 mins because the "hovering" takes up so much energy. So by the time they actually go to sleep they've used up so much energy that they just fall into unconsciousness. It's quite amazing. You are a beautiful person for helping this little fella' and I wish everyone on this Earth had a heart like yours.
Its lucky the bird lived because youve done the opposite of what your supposed to do. Feeding it was OK but stressing it out with the dog was over the top. The dog was sniffing its bum thats all, its what dogs do! You shouldve put it in a quite, dark, safe place to recover. Your heart is in the right place though!
Yes I noticed that too! Did u see that dog "lickin' his chops?!" ...he was ready for snack- time!! Lol It's too bad people have good intentions but oftentimes bad, bad judgement! Nature has balance and all humans do is Fuuc it up with so-called "good intentions..." Do ur HOMEWORK LADY!! All you did was stress that poor lil' fella out! And placing personifications on our domestic pets (dog helping) is ludicrous! Dogs are driven more by instinct than by our "humanly-imposed" compassions that we attempt in an effort to feel better about ourselves & our acts. Get Real! The TRUTH will Set U Free!! Try it once in awhile, It really will...
Brains trump hearts ! Videographer wanted fame & glory, is all. Ignorance and stupidity seem always to be in fashion, especially at the expense of helplessly beautiful creatures.
what a beautiful gift from god and I thank it was dehydrated I've never seen a bird sleep during the day.Your dog willed that little bird health.God bless
Fab! I Too Loved Your Music Choice! Some use rather unpleasant music, which takes away from the Joy of the Rescue! Thanks So Much for Your Dedication To Our Animal Friends! Thank God There Are Still Wonderfully Kind Loving & Gentle Human Souls!
I found 3 baby humming birds One day I was coming home from somewhere I let my little 3 pound chihuahua of to run around in the grass , she goes everywhere with me. ..............I noticed she started acting odd kept running round I a circle an stopping an pointing at the same spot I walked over an it was a tiny baby humming bird . I waited to see if mama bird was coming back .....she didnt , I picked up the baby an before I could look up on ghe internet how to care for a baby humming bird my dog was doing her little circle dance again, I walked ovr an sure enough it was another little baby at that point I made everyone stayed off te grass . My dog ended up finding 1 more making 3 in total 2 were extremely tiny an 1 was a little bigger than the other two. I learned baby humming birds need to eat quite often (years passed since this incident so I dont remember timing schedule) I immediately began feeding them sugar water ....they LOVED IT! but I was afraid it wouldnt be good nutrients so I bought hummingbird feed at a pet store , I bought birdola bird nector and got a seconed opinion of a pet store worker that coincidentally knew about humming , I checked out the website, birdola nector an every sounded picture purfect so I felt I was doing the right thing, the worker that knew about hummingbirds also praised birdola nector . Long story short BIRDOLA NECTOR BRUTILLY killed the babies , after a while they began rejecting the nector it was poison to then they suffered they twitched , gasped for air they twisted their head abnormally fast it looked like as if they broke their own neck ............it was such an aweful thing to witness I called ghe birdola comapany an told them their product is killing humming birds they told me to send them the batch of nector I have , and I knew they were just going to lie and call it a bad batch. After I saw the adorable babies suffer terrible an feeling helpless I felt depressed an I begain to noticed a few other people in my neighbor had birdola nector as feed ( I knew that because it was a dark red fluid )an I noticed the hummingbird feeders were full the adult humming birds were not eating that nector. So I think adult hummingbird can survive birdola bcuz after a while they can make a judgement that its hurting them an they will turn from eating it , the 3rd humming bird which was a little bigger of the 2 lasted a little longer an he fought eating the birdola after a while but by the time I could conclude they were already poisoned. Those people couldnt care less when I called them . Its up to the consumers to avoid supporting companies that are ok with death for financial gain , see that company made it this long bcuz adult humming birds will eat then after a while not come back , please people look nu p my our own natural way to make hummingbird nector.
Wow! I'm so sorry, I would have been heartbroken to have that experience. Thank you for sharing. I absolutely know "any kind of red nectar" is complete crap! With hummingbirds going extinct it truly amazes me that it's even allowed to be sold on the market today. Most people are unaware when they start out feeding hummingbirds. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Hope people will understand NOT to buy this stuff.
HanieB.(C.~)reations yeah I was a dumb little teenager when this happened if I had been a little bit older I would been able see the red flag of the deep red color nector as anything but safe an would have never given it to them . My name is katrina by the way this is a made up account that I created originally just for games . I dont know I just feel that people should know who there talking too
kara mishi From what I've heard, torpor is when a hummingbird (and/or other birds idk 😭) go into a deep sleep and when they wake up they have a lot of energy. I never new that before looking in the comments. Hope this does ya good
Nope ! Human wanted a cool video to show how special they and their poor, exploited dog are ... dog didn't "care"...dog was sniffing new scent, is all ... stupid human tricks ...
I worked in a school and quickly learned to keep old ball point pen caps and sugar packets in my top desk drawer. For the emergency humming bird rescue! Good job
I love humming birds they are my favorite I have a hummingbird bush that is always full of those beautiful 🐦 God bless you & your lovely dog, for saving her ❤️
They've always been my favorite bird too! I feel they are like little angels. So sweet & loving when you get to work closely with them. They will change your life!
I LOVED this video and your caring spirit. Your dog is very cute and your flower garden is a birds paradise. Thank you for sharing and giving that bird another shot at life. Happy Trails friend

I rescued a hummingbird that was entangled in big spider web. As the little fella was happily flying off he stopped, huvvered right in front of me to thank me before he flew away.
Very Cool! I believe it too. I've witnessed that behavior as well. They do communicate in their own little ways.
Did he wink at you?
Humming Birds use spider webs to build their nest.
Bless you for your love, care, and ability to heal! What a gift! Thanks for being YOU!

He flew off after I gave q-tip dipped in nectar etc. in the end.
Wow ... no wonder the bird looked half dead. I live in NZ and Australia ... no hummingbirds so this is all new to me. TY 😊
Human kindness is incredibly. May God bless us all with such love.
We share a kindred spirit my friend.
i mean this made my day...thanks for sharing this...and you guys helping the hummer!
Francisco Osuna do you know the difference between a bird and an insect?
A little love, nectar and encouragement from a cute dog! That was so sweet
Despite some saying that the Bird was in it's sleep cycle, and we DON'T know this for sure,
the fact that the branch it was clinging to had broken off, and since I don't know the location of the tree it came from,
I have to assume it was quite a fall.
What a touching, precious rescue to both the lady and her dog. Thank you.
God's creations are awesome, aren't they?!
if God is real, then why are there homeless & sick people?
Because until Jesus returns, this is Satan’s world! Satan is the invisible god of this world. He is the author of its organization, its basic philosophies, its systems of government, business, society-yes, and religions.
They are here for you to learn compassion, justice, good from evil, right from wrong, and in the end to learn about yourself ..

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I really appreciate such kind words of appreciation!
donktheclown... what a wonderful story!
Blessings and Love,
God placed us over the animals to care for them...what a honour! May God bless you for your kindness!
God?.... pfffff ¬¬

Pumpkin...What did He die of?
Wow....I was holding my breath through the happy ending !! Thank you for your compassion and persistence...your little dog sure helped !!! Thank you again!!!
every earthling should have a horse a wolf and falcon. in your case a mini horse a chihuahua and a hummingbird. blessings.
So lovely of you and your sweet dog. I love videos like this that show the love and care that animals have for each other.
Loved how your dog cared for the bird too.
Thanks Yolanda! That was my favorite part too. I wasn't aware how much she was trying to help me until I watched the video recording.
So you learned something and so did I. The main this is you cared. Never lose that compassion! We need so much more of it.
When it comes to animals I could never lose compassion. Thank you so much for commenting!
I believe that the animals are a blessing from our Lord but no matter your faith you must see the divinity that shines out of them. As we said the last time in school, real nice engineering. They are a marvel.
Evolution shines ... you and I evolved from primates, no mythical god involved...divinity is in the brain of the drugged through dogma...
Such a dear sweet thing to do. You saved that tiny babies life. Thanks so much. Katie
Topor: A state of reduced metabolic activity so the hummingbird can survive through the night without starving to death? Possibly in recovery from a long Gulf Ocean Crossing!
You got to hold a hummingbird in your hands! That is so incredibly special and rare. You and that bird were blessed!
I loved the look on your dog's little face when the bird started fluffing up! Brilliant camera work, too. If you haven't already, I think you should definitely do more film making because apart from the beautiful story, I also really enjoyed that aspect of this video. Thanks! :-)
Oh, I see that you have. Nice one! :-)
Thank you for saving him..He was obviously very dehydrated..I have been rescuing all types of animals for years, a lot of people underestimate these creatures as with the love of your little dog. Much love and light to you.
This is one of the reasons I purchase hummer feeders with perches.
That's an amazing experience you'll never forget. Thanks for sharing it
That is just awesome! Thanks for sharing this adventure!
+Marisa Beaird I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm so glad I was able to capture it. It was an amazing experience for me.
I bet it was! I have hummingbirds come around
WOW! Thank you so much for the video, info and links! I learned so much about these precious little birds! Well Done!
Well done another beautiful creature brought back to life with love!
Torpor, cool to see the hummer awake from its cold slumber.
+Annelise Tran Bozmarov Thanks. Glad you know about Torpor. I have since learned, and had I known prior, I would have left it alone.
We had one run into our glass once and kind of did the same thing. Little fella made it.
The hummingbird was in its sleep cycle called torpor....... nothing was wrong with it at all.... but very very sweet video..😊
Yep! I discovered that later. Thank you for the nice comment!
sarahrose0413
Yes I agree! Plus they may have P___ed it off waking it up. I know I don’t feel very good when I first wake up.
Thank you , Im going to google that right now.
That was a nice comment. What you did showed a heart as big as Texas though.
UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME!!!!
Thank you for you're loving and patience and you're loving, caring dog - I embrace you both from the distance.
That was so sweet for someone to care this much..so nice to see there's good ppl out there and good dogs too!
Thank you!
It's called sleep. Hummingbirds are like birds on crack. Unless you see it in an accident. Leave it be. There metabolism is so high when they shutdown they shutdown.
Better off leaving it be and make sure that cats are inside.
Save a lot more wildlife that way.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I absolutely cried watching this. And your dogs love most definitely urging the bird on, I believe helped save this sweet soul. Thank you for being the kind of person that would take the time to save this little love. Much love to you and your sweet pup. 💞💞💞
wow! you saved it's life! that was awesome!
Thanks again!
well it certainly is a wonderful story, and I'm so glad the little fellow made it. Look forward to seeing your artwork Hanie.
HanieB.(C.~)reations I recently uploaded to Red Bubble but haven't seen any sales. How have you done?
HanieB.
That dog could have chomped down on that bird... If anybody else rescues a hummingbird, do not let your dog near it. On the other hand, great video!
Yes, I held my breath hoping the dog would not open his mouth!
gabrielekruger
yes, did you notice the dog licking it's lips?
That's what I was thinking! He was licking his chops!
You bet I did!
What a kind and thoughtful person. ♥️
The Hummingbird takes as long as I do to wake up in the morning. 😂
Thank you for that heart-warming story. That is truly awesome and you are an awesome human being for being so caring.
That's terrific. I love hummingbirds. In fact, that's the very same type of hummingbird I had coming to my feeders last summer. They have not shown up again except now and then... I guess they are all partking of the nectar from the local flowers around right now. Thank you for doing what you did (and your sweet dog too).
One of my favorite birds! Thank you for saving it 😊
Awesome! He must have been weak, and needed some nectar. I'm grateful for your patience, and love for animals.
Nice video & caring people including the dog.
Thank you Vincent! I'm the caring one you speak of. Thank you!!
God Bless you and your dog for doing all you did for this little beauty.......with all the bad in the news you touched my heart tonight..............thanks from upstate NY
That is such a cute video. Endearing! TLC saved the hummer's life! Its great to know there are loving people in this world.
if man was put here to help animals why are so many extinct and going extinct
Micheal Campbell because some men are greedy pigs who sell things like elephant tusks. Lots of people care more about hurting them than loving them like she did. Bless her heart..it mattered to that little almost dead Hummer. ✝
Hummingbirds hang upside down like a bat to sleep. They put themselves in a trance untill morning and revive as the sun warmes them.
Hummingbirds hang upside down like a bat to sleep. They put themselves in a trance untill morning and revive as the sun warmes them.
Glad you didn't give up...you saved his/her life...it lucky it found a nice human that cares...
that is HOW hummingbirds sleep! it was not dead!
That's right!
I've saved a couple of animals in my life, I got to say, it's a great feeling, nice job!
Must of been among the most gratifying moments in your life to see him come back from the brink:)
I've been feeding hummers every summer for quite some time now.
+Lori A Thank you!
Nice.
+HanieB.(C.~)reations thankyouu! :)...yea I really want a humming bird lol
+Rich Williams I know, I LOVE them too! I think I may have shared the wrong video to twitter. You play guitar? It's confusing cause I thought I clicked on your channel that lead me to someone playing guitar.
+HanieB.(C.~)reations yes I play guitar...
It's called ''Torpor''. Look it up, this is how they sleep or take a mid day nap. Nice vid though
That is a special video. A kind heart you have and your dog as well. I hope to be that kind in life.
The master of flight with no challengers in sight, stands at peace.
Bless you for saving this precious creature. Thank you.
Doggy knew humm was in trouble and gave it a nurturing nudge back to life. Amaaaaazing. x
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!! Bird in torpor; human in stupid !
That was so beautiful to watch! I love humming birds! Thank you for that post!
HanieB.(C.~)reations blackheads
HanieB.(C.~)reations Very cool, it's nice to know decent, loving humans still exist.
HanieB.(C.~)reations that was an amazing act of love on your part
Saving it because it was #REAL, and you just made my night so much better. God bless you tons, what you did was such a good thing. 🙃✝❤
HanieB.(C.~)reations to me it was miracle. Blessings Dear-Heart. ✝
Thank god you found him!!! God bless you and him. Your dog is adorable.
No thanks due to a mythical divinity...best replaced with a sincere plea for more education...so this sad human learns not to interfere with nature for the sake of a stupid human video. The dog was pimped.
Love that you helped even the littlest life on earth ❣❤️❤️❤️
Little life-BIG personality. I love hummingbirds! Thank you very much for commenting.
Sincere thanks for your loving care for this little bird and for sharing the miracle with u s ♡
Great Video!
Thank you!
Nature has balance and all humans do is Fuuc it up with so-called "good intentions..."
Do ur HOMEWORK LADY!!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful experience!
Absolutely adorable!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!
what a beautiful gift from god and I thank it was dehydrated I've never seen a bird sleep during the day.Your dog willed that little bird health.God bless
Great video and information for others!! I learned something today about hummingbirds 💙 Thank you for sharing! oh, and loved the music also!
Thanks for you comment. Glad you learned something, and SO GLAD someone finally said something positive about the music. I like it!
Never heard of torpor learned something new thanks!!
Fab! I Too Loved Your Music Choice! Some use rather unpleasant music, which takes away from the Joy of the Rescue! Thanks So Much for Your Dedication To Our Animal Friends! Thank God There Are Still Wonderfully Kind Loving & Gentle Human Souls!
I found 3 baby humming birds
One day I was coming home from somewhere I let my little 3 pound chihuahua of to run around in the grass , she goes everywhere with me. ..............I noticed she started acting odd kept running round I a circle an stopping an pointing at the same spot I walked over an it was a tiny baby humming bird .
I dont know I just feel that people should know who there talking too
That is an awesome experience! I would be so glad and happy if it was hapenned to me.... Wow! Just wow!
I will subscribe to see your lovely dog
Wow! your awesome! I felt such gratitude coming from the hummingbird. It brought tears to my eyes
You understand that the hummer was in torpor, right?
in what?
kara mishi
From what I've heard, torpor is when a hummingbird (and/or other birds idk 😭) go into a deep sleep and when they wake up they have a lot of energy. I never new that before looking in the comments. Hope this does ya good
Janine Aggott never knew m so thnx for sharing
Good job
I loved how sweet it is that your dog was helping by giving little nudges!! 😍
Yes. That is what she does when she wants something too! She starts knocking things over with her nose. Thank you for commenting.
You mean smelling and tasting it, right? Cuz that is how I saw that dog once it nudged and then licked its lips.
negative people post negative, ignorant comments.

Cachito Nesher the hummingbird was just in its sleep cycle, it was still a noble effort though
True, he would have woken up on his own.
Bird was in its natural sleep state. It's almost like a coma. Leave sleeping hummingbirds to hang.
