simply not true. you can draw vertical white lines on your windows using a glass marker (drawn externally) or chalk pen (drawn internally) with 2-3 inch between each line, the birds can detect this is not a passable object. I've noticed nearly no strikes on my windows after drawing lines on the inside of my windows with chalk pens. I have my feeders screwed into the rooftop overhang, so that I can top them up simply by opening the window, I have found it absolutely incredible for my mental health. I could not say the same if I was to keep the feeder 30 feet from any of my windows. Just make sure your window doesn't look like a clear glass pane, draw some vertical white lines the birds will not fly into your windows, theres a popular video I saw it on.
How can I create a yard that is for birds if I don't have any trees? I live in the city and I can't plant trees in my yard. Please share any ideas as to how I can create shelter for birds in a yard that doesn't have trees. What kind of potted trees can I get?
Can you add water to your yard? This will benefit birds and other wildlife, even if it's not very big. It doesn't need to be a pond, a small tub or tank with some submerged and aquatic plants can help - have a look at our video "How to build a Garden Pond" at th-cam.com/video/VRN1sp78jHk/w-d-xo.html. You can also plant small shrubs which carry berries that are good for food or shelter, or herbs in pots are also very good for insects, and will ultimately benefit birds. I don't use bird feeders as this artificially distorts the ecosystem - inflates bird numbers at the cost of invertebrates and pollinators who are eaten at much higher amounts due to fed birds. My bird numbers are increasing naturally with native trees and habitats containing seeds and insects - no pesticide produced bird feed - no disease at feeding stations either.

You’re leaving out the use of native trees that support the most caterpillars and pollinators. Probably the native Oaks would be the most productive.
