For example, she mentioned that high school students in Taiwan ain't as independent as the American ones. I think it's completely the opposite. In Taiwan, students have to take tests to get into high schools, so many people go to a high school in a different town. I was admitted in to Changhua Senior high, so I had to move to Changhua city. My first semester I stayed at the dorm, and then I moved out and rented an apartment with some friends. I started working part time so that I could afford the rent. Most of the American high school students, however, go to a high school in their community. Also, many college parties are pretty insane in Taiwan, too. Maybe people are just too shy to invite foreigners? One time I came back to Taiwan and visited one of my friends from high school and we went to his college party, it was #EPIC! We went karaoke, clubbing, and then we rode our mopads to Ali mountain to see the sun rise!
I agree that in America you have to be mature. Most of the students I know in college have at least a part time job while going to college full time. Because I come from a poor family I have a part time job, and scholarships to pay for college and what that doesn't cover I use my own money or loan money. I live with my parents for free but they don't help me with college.
And why's that when I studied in the States for high school, I noticed many students aren't mature as Taiwanese students. Yes, American children has more freedom doing what they want to do, but generally I found out that they lack of common sense whereas Taiwanese students pick it up early on in their lives. Another point is that American people generally are childish no matter what their age is. So the conclusion is, college students in the Sates are independent but childish and lack of common sense. :)

This is essentially stereotyping the college population in Taiwan. Using experience in romantic relationships as a measurement of maturity? How do you measure maturity with just that? Maturity is more than just being responsible in relationships; there are many different types of social experience and definition of maturity within different societies. In addition, being able to date early does not mean it will make you more mature. I'll provide a counterexample: Sacrificing the time on actively seeking out for a relationship, in hopes of obtaining good grades and achievements to ensure a greater possibility of having a stable future. yes, there are many things that you can argue against the example I provided, but the goal is to provide a different view of "one type" thinking that can also be considered as mature thinking among different groups "我晚上的時候不會上網打電動. 我都去高雄夜店" ...I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of...typically, you would drink at clubs and not in a small amount, and there are also cases where people drive after drinking. Both actions are not mature behaviors, and there are many alternatives that can enhance your social skills (i.e. sports, movies)

OMG......我從之前看影片中就開始懷疑有些校園場景是不是在我們學校San Jose State University拍的!!! 是吧？真的太像太有熟悉感了哈哈 是有SJSU的學生在 stopkidding studio 工作嗎？好有趣喔! （看到學校不小心小小的激動了:P)
PARTY這個文化，在台灣起步的慢，以前台灣有戒嚴時期所以人民不能隨處聚眾集會，會被調查。開放以來PARTY未被家長們青睞，是大家都認為出門非談正事，而玩樂輕鬆是要看玩哪一種，父母都期望最好是少出事的那種才會放行。
學生們舞禁、髮禁開放(前、後)差很多，台灣私下開舞會漸漸比較沒了，你一吵就會有人報警投訴，自然就往營業場所(PUB、酒店)去。
現在漸漸的年輕人沒錢沒地方就會，聚眾飆車、泡夜店、唱K。而不會自行去花太多精神去搞PARTY完還要自己收拾。

大部分的社團也是有共同興趣一起玩耍
我不觉得美国大学生独立…… 每一学期开学，多的是一堆家长抱着小孩所有的家当去dorm给小孩整理，铺床，然后小孩就在旁边看，甚至有25,6岁的男生也这样！
還好啦像我是桌上遊戲社
我們也是共同興趣(或想打發時間)
然後聚在一起這樣玩啊哈哈
但不得不說真的很羨慕高中就可以獨立生活:(
