Steps to fix your device.
1. Find the left side of the earbuds
2. Get a thin pry tool and start prying up the housing. Find the groove (be careful)
3.Pry out the battery
4. Heat up the two tabs holding in the main board
5. Pry up the board
6. Unsolder the main battery points
7. Get your replacement battery
8. Solder on the new battery
9. Put the mainboard back into place
10. Finish up by gluing your housing back into place with B-7000 (bit.ly/2nA8PTm)
11. Get back to jamming out 🎵

But hey, I'm just writing this down so that it says something down here, because that's more professional right?) and if you're still reading along at this point you might as well sit down and grab some popcorn because this is about to trail on about how we are this premiere repair service located in Washington State North of Seattle in basically the "Armpit of the US" near Mt Baker (Mt Baker has the world record for most snowfall at 1,140 inches in a season). Even though it can smell bad around here we love the fresh air and being near the post office and in a quiet sleepy mountain town certainly gives us much closer access to Team Turtle and Team Beaver (Watch our "Who, what, when and where is JoesGE?" video if you don't get the reference).
All this to basically say that we are all addicted to coffee and stay in the warehouse for ridiculously long hours in order to keep up with the demands of the youth for these two-sided head audio devices and speakers that float when you throw them in the ocean or in your bathtub to test if they actually float. On top of that, we do like it when less stuff ends up in landfills so we hoard everything on shelves with wheels so that we pollute less, it just sits in our warehouse losing molecules slowly over time degrading to become smaller and smaller.
If you are still reading at this point you deserve an award, or a high five, or something because you must either be the most patient person on the planet, or you read blogs frequently. And if the latter is the case, then this whole thing must seem pretty short so let's keep going.

I think there was a bit of pre-video prep done here as my cover did not "pop" off like that at all. It was glued on quite strongly. I had to use a heat gun on it and slowly work it apart, starting from the front. My cover is not in the best of shape now, but it is fixable. Know that the rubber is not the cover. Do not peel the rubber back thinking that is it. There is a seam just past the back face, and that is what you have to work apart.
Same here. No grooves detectable whatsoever. I still haven't been able to pry it open but will try using a hair dryer later as I don't have a heat gun. The rubber came to pieces for me, but I didn't mind because the way I see it if I can't replace the batteries these earbuds are going to the bin anyway.
@@rlina50 Yeah, it took me a bit to realize the rubber I was prying off was not the cover. The seam is a hair in from inside of the edge face. The landing underneath it goes towards the outer face for almost 2mm.
A hair dryer may do the trick, but heating it is absolutely needed. The second time I did it, I found starting at the thinner end (the front edge) worked better.
@@Kraigmire The hair dryer worked! Holy hell it was difficult to pry open and the cover is all dented now. I think there may be different versions of these buds as some people here seem to be able to open it easily.
@@rlina50 Glad you were able to get it. Both of the ones I did ended up with a bit of damage to the covers, but you don't really notice them at all.
Same here. I couldn’t pry it open and the cover is very damaged. It’s simply not a product made to be fixed, sadly.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought these headphones over the internet and the batteries were completely dead. I considered throwing them away but thanks to this video I was able to change the batteries and fix them. Maybe one thing that could be made clearer for total beginners like me is that the cap of the left headphone has two different grooves right next to each other. One between the plastic cap and the rest of the headphone and another groove for the rubber coating around the cap. I removed the rubber coating half way before I realized that I had to get into the other groove to remove the cap itself.

Thanks for a great video. I have now managed to open the case an I’m wondering if it is may be easier to replace the connectors on either side of the battery to avoid having to remove the board and solder. Does anyone know how the connector plates are attached to the battery? They are covered by some kind of adhesive plastic but i’m not sure if that is only protection and that the plates are also soldered.

Not mine. Mine had a CP1654, which is larger than the CP1454.
Mine was also a CP1654. It has a much larger capacity then the CP1454.

i tried doing it myself, realized midway, i messed it big time, made several cuts in the housing case, luckily i found a guy who fixed all the mess and replaced the battery, now its as good as new, i shows him this tutorial though and he managed!

Please help me i have a pair of aqua blue soundsport wireless the ctc came off volume down and play pause still work wen i press down they click but i have lost the ability to turn the volume up the tiny lil copperish circle that actually makes contact with the board when u press the rubber down is gone is there any way i can trip/ trick the board to turn the volume all the way up and i will just leave it turned up
This worked great. The only thing I would add is some caution when soldering the positive lead on the chip side of the board. There is a land right next to the solder point if you bridge that gap with solder it shorts the battery and it gets hot fast. I would recommend using a solder iron with a very fine point. The solder lands are small.

Hi Joe! I got my Bose Soundsport wet, it wasn't in the washing machine, it was simply out of my ear while I was washing my face... I put in rice to get it dry, but the left earphone sounds very dull.... what should I do? It would mean a lot if you recommended something!

Glad i came across your channel. I have probably 10 pair that either need new batteries or speakers. I am pretty adamant about not buying something else. I haven't been able to find anything comparable to my Bose soundsport. Mainly because I like the wire that goes around my neck and these very rarely fall out if anybody knows of something that is as good or better id greatly appreciate it.

Does your replacement batteries support the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless? My right earbud don’t sycn when I remove it from the battery charger.

What temp is your iron at when soldering/desoldering the battery?
Can it be done without the heat gun?
It can be done with a heat gun but it will be way harder. The soldering iron is at about 500 degrees F

Man,your hands are steady.
I am pretty good at fixing things, but I was completely unable to remove the main cover for the battery. There was no flexibility in the cover, apart from the rubber bit that I did remove. I tried separating using a razor blade and then used a tiny screwdriver, but my thought was that I would destroy the item if I continued.
I will have to endure with the weak battery.

Mine spontaneously stopped working (battery health was prob good at 75% before). When charging, no light goes on, and otherwise they are unresponsive. How do you diagnose between it being a battery or board problem in this case?

Hey joe! You are very good at fixing stuff. I followed the same method for fixing my Bose Wireless headphones. Unfortunately, they stopped working now :-(
The issue was that one side fell into glass of water and stayed there for a whole night when i pulled it from the glass, they were working fine and stuck with lady voice saying "Pairing with blah blah" but never paired. I just opened them as you did. Now they are not working :-)

got the new battery soldered but first time my battery got really hot so I cleaned it redo the whole process, now when I plug it in only green light comes on like it is fully charged, but when I try to play it it won't come ON. any ideas?

My bose wont turn on recently. Ive had it only for one year. Every time I charge it, it only blinks orange light. It wont turn green the next day. Could it be the batteries. I contacted Bose they told me to plug it in on my computer and update it on their site but it didn’t do anything.
