"Being in a band is the most roundabout way to sell t-shirts" lmao
It really is! 😂
😂😂😂
I love that most people in Europe will show up for the support act; almost no one does here in Australia and it’s so frustrating. I’ve seen some incredible opening acts (Dust and Moaning Lisa come to mind) with half filled venues, but when the headliner starts suddenly it’s shoulder to shoulder packed. Massive shame.
Ahh no way? It might also be due to the fans being older too?
@@thesethingsmakenoises Possibly, I genuinely don’t know.
I’ve always loved getting in to see the support. Found October Drift by doing that and many other great bands.
We just recently played our first proper venue and what you're saying is so true. We had our own dressing room, fridge filled with beer and other non alcoholic drinks. The food was amazing AND healthy. So yeah, that was an unreal experience for us as a tiny little local band :)
Awesome mate!! 👏
Great video. Sounds like an absolute blast. You are right about being there to sell merch. It’s always nice as a supporter to be able to say thank you in person to the band members over the merch stall. Without fail in my experience artists appreciate not just the merch buying but also thanks in person for the gig and music.
Yeah 100%! It so nice to chat to people after.
You're always so humble and enthusiastic at the same time. Could listen to all day. And I hope for some dates in Germany next year again.
Thanks so much, there was points in the 10 hr drives I was a little less enthusiastic haha! But thanks so much. We should be out next year.
Congratulations on achieving another step closer to your dream!
Thanks mate!
The pictures of the tour look awesome
Cheers mate!
Man I hope my band gets big enough to tour and do huge venues. Will keep these tips in mind for sure, they’re pretty helpful even for a not touring band. Since we’re so small the catering we got at a venue was a mansion that had two slices of American cheese for our bassist lmao.
Haha! Trust me we get the same back home at times 😂
Congrats on a good tour!
Thanks mate!
Thoroughly enjoy your videos, and so happy that you got to experience this! Looks like a wicked tour!!
Thanks very much!
Brilliant video Dan! Loved it :-)
Thanks Ranju! 😊
Really interesting video Dan. Would have loved to come and see you guys in some of this big arenas!! 🔥🔥
Thanks mate. Hopefully more to come!
Congrats on a successful tour!
Thanks so much!
Great video Dan. Dream big! You guys deserve it. 🤘
But the sweaty night in Moles, Bath was awesome too!! 🖤🫡
Thanks bud!!
Good coverage of a top tour!
💜🙌
This is a brilliant watch. I’ve followed all the tour updates and now to see it all brought together and with your commentary Dan is superb. Glad you didn’t have any problems with customs as you hear about other bands unloading all the gear and even having Merch confiscated. And you are right re talking to fans at the end and being there in person to sell your Merch. It makes a big difference. Thanks for all of this 👍🏻
Thanks so much! Yeah touch wood we were lucky!
Wooooow, congrats guys! Archive support act. You're so humble about all this but it is some achievement mate. Love your content, keep it up 🤟 Well done
Thanks so much mate!
Happy for you that you got and took this chance ✌️
Thank you!
Completely right about America our closest venues are 45 minutes away an they are all fairly small biggest one that’s close is like an hour or two
Yeah!!
Hmm… I only watch your shorts and didn’t know you had a band. lol. I’m going to check you guys out in a bit. Assuming you’re on Spotify.
These types of videos kind of made me realize I don’t actually want to be in a touring band. I just want to do local/regional gigs and do instagram stuff. Playing music is fun.
Also, “you’ll be living in a van down by the river” lol. Idk if you’ll get that reference
Another great vid
Cheers!
Super cool vid!
Thanks!!
This looks awesome, would love to see you guys play if you ever come to germany! In terms of after show fan service, Mark Lanegan was the best, he always stayed a while
and signed everything/had a chat etc. RIP Mark!
We should be in Germany next year for sure! Aww yeah love mark Lanegan. That’s so awesome he did that.
Sounds like you had a great time on the road! I totally agree with choice of food. Junk food wears you down so quickly and the bloating is by far worse than when you're getting your nutrition from healthier food sources. It's a bit crazy with the bureaucracy surrounding going abroad; the need to list everything you're bringing in minute detail. I talked to a friend of mine who is a booker here in Denmark and he said that it made going to the UK so much extra work. Cool you got to go, though. And thanks for sharing the experiences with us! :D
Yeah 100%! Back home when we’re on tour I always find it hard to avoid the junk food as it’s often the closest choice to the venue and normally weirdly cheaper too!
Yeah, I hope over time it gets easier!
Def makes me far more likely to want to stay engaged with a band if they've been around chatting/selling their own merch after a show
Yeah 100% mate!
Awwwwwwesome!! ❤️
💜🙌
It takes a lot of effort to get your music out.
Nowadays touring is supporting the music/album, while long long time ago it was the very opposite.
On the road in particular you need a certain balance between sleep, food and logistics 😢
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for that! I thought it was all just drowned haha.
Hello. What about the Boss DF 2 (Super Feedbacker/Distortion) pedal?
And if anything, I already bought it
I mean I’ve used it to do feedbacks on stuff but I don’t think it’s essential!
@@thesethingsmakenoisesThank you for your opinion. I bought it because Adam Franklin from Swervedriver used it and still uses it. Grunge/shoegaze as you say. Well, this is my additional distortion pedal. Main-Boss Hm-2
Most Americans don't understand that entire European countries are the same size as a U.S. state. The U.S. market and European markets for music are also totally different; many bands that are big in one are unknown in the other, and vice versa.American bands with small followings in their own country can do very well playing in Asia or Europe.
A couple of hours one way is one thing, but I rather dislike spending entire days travelling long distances.
Yeah for sure!
show us the rig your toured with!
Hey! It’s basically the same as I took out for this: What makes A GREAT Touring Guitar Rig?

@@thesethingsmakenoises awesome!
Cabin in the woods vibes?
Haha deffo!
Damn you would've died touring in a punk band
Haha yeah definitely!
Carnage more like. Brexit. What an arse move.
I know right.
