- A speedrun of Half-Life 2 - Cutsceneless Mod (v2.2). This mod aims to remove as many cutscenes as possible while staying true to the original game.
This run initially started in 2016 with an older version of the Cutsceneless mod, created by Toxijuice. In 2018, with the release of an updated version of Cutsceneless by Chili N' Such, the run was restarted, yet died the same year on d1_trainstation_06. In 2020, the new team decided to finish the run, with the final segment recorded on January 19th, 2023 and with a final time of 18:48.465!
This run was completed in 1131 segments (618 demos and 513 save/load buffers) on Easy difficulty. This run was done without void clips.

10 seconds in and I think you fell asleep because the gman is still doing his cutscene in a cutsceneless speed run. This is a classic alright, a classic bait and switch.
Imagine Dr.Breen casually sitting doing his buisness and in 20 minutes dude in an HEV suit comes rushing into your office and destroys your regime completely
In our time it would have been 20 minutes, but for Breen it would have been a week because of the teleportation from Nova Prospekt back to Kleiner's lab
Yeah it would be like this: Dr Breen gets informed of a strange maniac zooming through the country at light speed before infiltrating nova prospekt and disappearing. Then nothing for a week so he would be relieved that its over, but all of a sudden the maniac would zooom through the destroyed city 17 and finally infiltrate the citadel and kill Dr. Breen

@@moonTerfixx. Well in a way it is a TAS as it uses the source pause tool which is used to make segmentet runs. But not TAS in the way that the segments were played completely by humans and not tick perfect inputs in a TAS software.
This feels like the classic HL1 speedrun

The movement is so beyond perfect it's hard to believe this is done by humans, even segmented.
I remember when the first Portal TAS came out, I thought segmented source runs might be a thing of the past - I'm so happy to be proven wrong, lol

the devs of the mod should have had the overcharged gravity gun explode the moment the elite sets it on the table. Would have been an epic way of skipping the cutscene.
I wanted to make a smartass comment about something like, "20 minutes later" but ingame there's the week timeskip because of the slow portal. Well, whatever. This is crazy impressive, I love seeing a perfect segmented run.

i remember folks talking about this back in 2018 when the restart happened, i assumed it was another for the graveyard. nice to see that wasn’t the case
Great run! Takes an unbelievable amount of precision. It's a shame that once you change sections, you reset your health, PegasDoggeAM went from 2hp to 100 through the loadscreen (4:03 - 4:05). I wouldn't call that staying true to the original game.
I think that's save deletion, which is a Source Engine thing and not a part of the mod. You can see some short 0.05s segments for performing save deletion in the timesheet.
This is done in RTA runs as well afaik

I find it a bit stale to see names I'm not familiar with (since I only view content from SourceRuns directly).
I'm looking to know something like their motivations to grind these segments, maybe something like what was the most personally challenging part etc.

It's a cutsceneless run so there was no need to sit through it
this is noclip, but accessed without cheats. it's the same concept as 4:40 where you exit a vehicle in an unusual way
