I gave up after #4 because it got silly. #3 was my first doctor and also introduced Sarah Jane (Elisabeth Sladen RIP) but Tom Baker was really my Doctor. I heard that Chris Eccleston was going to be the next Doctor in the reimagined show and I was immediately hooked again. In my opinion, Peter Capaldi was a bad choice for the Doctor. He was too well known for other TV roles and a long history of acting. He never seemed credible. Having seen Jodie in other shows, esp Broadchurch, I am interested again.

this is easily the worst series of doctor who (so far) that has ever been made. I hope the show gets cancelled before they continue doing any more harm to the Doctor Who franchise.
@@xxMrBaldyxx Apparently is being cancelled after the next seasson (a short seasson, of just half the episodes, in 2020) and she and the writer are gone. Watched it just a few hours ago, and I loved it. It had just the right amount of humour, and drama, and suspense. And her performance was great. She is clearly the Doctor.
More time for what? She is there to promote a product. It's not a first date or a getting-to-know-you session. The is only there because she is paid to be there. She is a live, walking, talking commercial. That's how late night show exist. Celebrities aren't there because they want to be there. They are there to promote their product.
Justin M Of course they are, I think all of us know that. But how does that contradict Jake Stephens? Many people are there, chat for a while and then talk about the book they recently brought out. I get that you can't chat with her for 5min before bringing up Doctor Who right now, but a little more chatting would have been nice.
she was a guest on last Friday's Graham Norton Show so if you crave more I'd recommend watching that show. (I think it's uploaded on YT as well, season 24 episode 1)
The first time a Time Lord regenerated on screen from male to female was on Gallifrey, and he went from an old white man to a young black woman. I think this means future Doctors could be black, Asian, latino or anything. Cool huh? Who do you think should be next? George Lopez or Margaret Cho? James Hong would have been brilliant.
the writing for her era is,,, not great to say the least, but thirteen is such a fun doctor i don’t even care about the plot. my favorite from new who for sure
I didn't particularly think she got a good opportunity in Broadchurch to really show how good she can be. Thought the writing for Beth Latimer was kind of static, and that Andrew Buchan had a much better-written character as her husband, Mark. That said, I'm excited to see what she can do as the Doctor. She's talented and has always seemed extremely likable.
her introduction when she ran along the cars to the beach was truly impressive, though. you could see when she realized, when she knew, the dead boy on the beach was her son.
Absolutely. My commentary is absolutely no criticism of her. She did well with what she was given. I just don't think she was given that much other than what was pretty predictable for a person in her position as the series progressed. Mark Latimer's character development as written was more dynamic and unpredictable, and as such Buchan got the better opportunity to stand out in the show than did Whitakker. I really liked her in that show, and it's one of my few complaints about it that she wasn't given a less-predictable line of development in which to showcase her talents.
She, like THIRTEEN master class actors before her, was most definitely born to be The Doctor for a while. She reminds me a LOT of Sylvester McCoy’s doctor, just as Peter Capaldi’s Doctor seems such an echo of Chris Eccleston’s Doctor...I, for one, LOVE her portrayal. I
I fully admit to being one of those people who didn't want the Doctor to regenerate into a woman AT ALL but honestly, now I can't flippin wait until the next seasons starts! I'm getting excited because I feel that even though it will be a major adjustment for me to see her as the Doctor, I think she's the perfect casting for the role!
Technicality she isn't the first female Doctor, just Canonically she is. Sorry been a Whovian since 1981. Loved Jodie in Attack The Block and Broadchurch. She's going to be great!
Haven't gotten to watch Doctor Who before. Maybe I should give it a chance. Although maybe I should probably go back and watch some past seasons too huh?
This will probably be a pretty good time to jump in. Since there's a new show runner and a new Doctor and new companions, there probably won't be many specific references you won't get. And you will get to figure out what the Doctor is all about along with her new companions.
Its a great show, its kinda a big commitment, but starting with the 2005 series would kinda give you the grand scope. You might get away with jus watching Capaldis run?
There is so much hate around her right now! I love her! She is one of my favourite doctors and I really hope she decides to stay. There is always going to be haters but she shouldn’t take them seriously. Just know there are people like me who love the thirteenth Doctor!
I think it's very cool to see Stephen Colbert using a picture of Tom Baker as he describes it as "my Doctor from my childhood." Same here. I grew up with Tom Baker since I was kid at the age of eleven or twelve, and he's really the reason why I stuck with the show for a long time. I started with "The Pyramids of Mars" on a Sunday afternoon on PBS and it became a cornerstone of TV viewing for many more Sundays until the late 80s. Baker remains my favorite incarnation as he captures that otherworldly quality.
I’ve not watched it yet (stopped several doctors ago) but after watching this I’m driven to check it out! She is so likable and has that doctor eccentric energy even on the interview!

Jodie Whittaker will be awesome as the new Doctor. The sexist fanboys are just threatened by the fact that social demographics are being fairly represented now. Cudos to the writers and the amazing cast who personifies that diversity is a brilliant thing. Strength in Diversity! 🏳️🌈
@Rosencrantz Exactly! Unfortunately there have been some fanboys who have been spoilt and complacent. In that they have been accustomed to believing that an ALIEN should be white male. Thankfully that notion is false and the Doctor can be anyone.
Us "sexist fanboys" have nothing against a female doctor. It's quite the opposite. Our main gripe is with the show's writing! We want her to have engaging, throught provoking and epic stories. Not weak stories that put her gender at the centre of attention in every episode.
I don't think I've ever been so excited to watch anything in my life. Jodie is amazing in everything she stars in, cannot wait to see her completely smash this role!
It isn't well known but despite being the doctor and calling themselves the doctor in character, all actors who have played the character refer to that character as 'doctor who'. It isn't surprising to BBC audiences, but north american audiences get very uptight about it. But it isn't a matter of failure to understand the role. It is simply tradition.
T Electronix if you look online, you can find a bunch of quotes from Doctor Who veterans, creative and actors, calling the character "Doctor Who." I don't know specifically that Tennant ever did, but it's happened both in classic and nu who. It's worth noting that the character was frequently credited as "Doctor Who" in the old series (Was any Doctor other than Davison credited as "The Doctor?" I don't remember right now) and even Eccleston was billed as "Doctor Who" in the credits.

"I'm qualified to be the Doctor".... SHE'S MORE THAN QUALIFIED, SHE *IS* THE DOCTOR
I love how people can weigh who is more or less the Doctor. They can judge with closed minds and closed hearts who. That is not what the Doctor has been about.
Jodie is a great actress. I love her in Broadchurch and her episode in Black Mirror. Not to keen for her to be the new Doctor but what I'm looking forward the most is the rating. Watched it just a few hours ago, and I loved it. It had just the right amount of humour, and drama, and suspense. And her performance was great. She is clearly the Doctor.
I can't wait, she is going to be brilliant!
She isn’t just going to be brilliant. She is going to be fantastic!
ahahah brilliant i see what you did there
R.I.P Doctor Who 1963 - 2017
Michael McGrath Seen the premiere’s numbers yet?
Judging by your comments, they’re going to make you throw a tantrum.
Actually she is very bad indeed.
She is stunningly brilliant in “Broadchurch”. Perfection.
She's so adorable. The accent is everything.
She’s very polite and very British I love it
I FREAKING LOVE HER I NEVER WANT HER TO LEAVE
Shame. She deserved more time, even if she couldn't talk about the show.
For that sort of show, that was a long interview. Usually it is "What's your name? Lets show a clip of what you are in. Thanks for coming."
She was on the Graham Norton Show for the whole 40 minutes. Check it out.
She's amazing. Her dad Forest should be proud.
It's a mistake to think people with an accent aren't as intelligent as you.
+Andrew M - I'm not sure that you got the joke here.
Loooool actually googled it you got me!
HitchensImmortal
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha ha ha!
Stephen: "What's in the clip?"
Jodie: "Spoilers!"
British people, turn on captions. You’ll get a laugh early on
Hoodezfield!
That outfit is so flattering on her and I love her shoes. Jodie, you are an icon and we love you.
0:26 THE CAPTIONS 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
I love Jodie and the Doctor she's amazing (I just wish the writing would improve 😭)!!!
I read on another thread somewhere the suggestion of Peter Dinklage...they probably can't afford him at this point but I think he would be amazing!
Robert Manion
Marty theMartian The Doctor should always be played by a Brit!
I’m patiently counting the hours until the premiere!
How can you be so patient!?!?
LearnedBear I’m 39. 🤣
Ahh... so you can still afford to be patient.
Some of us remember Tom Baker as the Doctor. We don't have so much time left. :-D
LearnedBear 🤣😂🤣😂 Understood!
She is such a sweetheart, anytime i watch one of her interviews my heart just fills with joy because she is always in such a good mood ❤❤❤
Jodie Whittaker will be an amazing Doctor and be a wonderful contribution to the lore of the show. All the best to her and Doctor Who.
I like that she didn't even hate on those that were opposed to her. I don't agree with them of course but she handled it masterfully
That dress Jodie Whittaker is wearing is absolutely stunning!
Her earring too :)
Jodie‘s so brilliant, love her! ✨❤️
the writing for her era is,,, not great to say the least, but thirteen is such a fun doctor i don’t even care about the plot. my favorite from new who for sure
her lil smirk at the end after the clip plays really gets me
Charisma on point.
When Doctor Who was being started up again they used an anagram to refer to it while under wraps, "Torchwood."
She is one of my favorite docters i can still see the doctor in her and she is amazing and fun and interesting
Just seen the first episode of her as the new doctor and she does not disappoint. Some very funny moments too.
" I'm qualified even though I am a woman". I am so sorry to see you go. Happy travels, Doctor Jodie!
No such thing as the first female Doctor, just the first one with etheric beam locators. 😉
She's so much like Ten in that scene on the train - "Smart boy - biology!" I love her.
this is one of the most positive comment sections that I’ve ever seen on a season 11 video, it’s so refreshing
And you will get to figure out what the Doctor is all about along with her new companions.
infinitekurosoul start with the new ones, Season 1, that is a good enough start. No need to have a look at the other 40 years for now.
Its a great show, its kinda a big commitment, but starting with the 2005 series would kinda give you the grand scope. You might get away with jus watching Capaldis run?
Blizaga101 oh, most certainly NOT start with Capaldi!!! That would mean missing out on ALL of the best episodes, as those are certainly not Capaldi's.
WeyrSingerMWT nope. Jumping in now is not really that good. Or would you recommend to someone to jump into Games of Thrones Season 7?
There is so much hate around her right now! I love her! She is one of my favourite doctors and I really hope she decides to stay. There is always going to be haters but she shouldn’t take them seriously. Just know there are people like me who love the thirteenth Doctor!
I love her. She's doing a great job.
shes so charming seriously! whatever I think about the episodes this season Jodie Whittaker is great
I think it's very cool to see Stephen Colbert using a picture of Tom Baker as he describes it as "my Doctor from my childhood." Same here.
Never thought I'd say it, but the Doctor's hot.
Dude. Even as a straight man, you cannot deny that Tennant is a handsome, handsome man. Jodie is simply bringing sexy back. :D
Hot? Really? She has a boyish figure which does nothing for me!
@@fivish STFU
1) I really love her
Lol yeah I'm not even sure most Americans would know her accent is British.
Show of virtual hands, anyone thinking 'Clooney' is going to be a small running joke for this season?
Well, taking it from their Torchwood history, probably yes.
Talented and lovely! She was amazing in Broadchurch and I look forward to seeing her take on The Doctor!
Jodie’s lil smile 🥰.
Well, I say little but it’s quite big, actually. Jodie you so cute and bubbly and I love your smile.
I think she was great in the debut episode. She was 100% the Doctor.
I was kind of worried at first, but she knocked it right out of the park.
I love her💜
What did the Dalek cosmetician say?
EXFOLIATE!
That's BAD!!
Dalek Gardener; GER-MIN-ATE!!!
Dalek Philosopher; RU-MIN-ATE!!!
Dalek Pope; PON-TI-FI-CATE!!!
Dalek Beautician; EX-FO-LI-ATE!!!
Dalek Bartender; IN-E-BRI-ATE!!!
She's lovely, and brilliant! perfect doctor!!
I’ve not watched it yet (stopped several doctors ago) but after watching this I’m driven to check it out! She is so likable and has that doctor eccentric energy even on the interview!
Lol! Welcome to America, her husband is from Arizona.
JODIE IS A PERFECT FIT FOR THE DOCTOR 💙💙
she's gonna be an amazing doctor. i saw her on broadchurch and she aced
She’s lovely. Will check out the show for the first time because of her.
Jodie and Sir Patrick Stewart from star trek are both from this area ie Huddersfield . Amazingly this yorkshie town also produced tv sitcom hello hello actorGordon Kaye , also actor James Mason and ex priminister sir Harold Wilson plus the film location for long running sit com last of the summer wine .Wondetrful place with very friendly people and worth a visit especially to watch the football team
You had me until the diversity part and gay flag. Jodie doesn't need your buzzwords to make a good Doctor.
Dr Who is one of the few ips where there's a lore reason for gender bending
This is not a show where a female doctor won't make sense. Its perfectly viable. No need to make this a male/female thing
Us "sexist fanboys" have nothing against a female doctor. It's quite the opposite. Our main gripe is with the show's writing! We want her to have engaging, throught provoking and epic stories. Not weak stories that put her gender at the centre of attention in every episode.
Aww, she's lovely. I watched her on Broadchurch first.
Didn't like her character there
Bt i'm sure she'll make a great Doctor
I don't think I've ever been so excited to watch anything in my life. Jodie is amazing in everything she stars in, cannot wait to see her completely smash this role!
I really love those shoes honestly.
i think she has that perfect "vibe" to be the doctor
They still haven’t corrected the subtitles it says “hoodezfield” instead of “Huddersfield” 😂😂😭
She should never ever _ever_ tone down that beautiful Yorkshire accent.
TUNG!
Love it, I'm from West Yorkshire too...Yorkshire is God's county
Except God doesn't exist.
@_- Damn right.
Can’t wait till Sunday 🙌🏻 Jodie is going to be so good as the Doctor.
Lol, the way she said "Well" at 4:12 was so 10th.
"The Doctor in Doctor Who." We all came in our pants when he said that, right?
It isn't well known but despite being the doctor and calling themselves the doctor in character, all actors who have played the character refer to that character as 'doctor who'. It isn't surprising to BBC audiences, but north american audiences get very uptight about it.
But it isn't a matter of failure to understand the role. It is simply tradition.
Missy confirmed his name was "Doctor Who" in Capaldi's last series. And I mean, Missy would never ever lie, right?
@@AmaranthOriginal press x to doubt
Dembai - I......don't think that is true.
Tennant for instance definitely called him The Doctor.
NO SHE ISN'T!!!
@@MichaelM28 I'm sorry to announce this to you but.... it's too late. she's the Doctor. you can't do anything to undo that
Trust me, she's the Doctor ... and not like the fake doctor she played in "Trust Me"
I love how people can weigh who is more or less the Doctor. They can judge with closed minds and closed hearts who. That is not what the Doctor has been about.
Jodie is a great actress. I love her in Broadchurch and her episode in Black Mirror. Not to keen for her to be the new Doctor but what I'm looking forward the most is the rating.
I mean during Capaldi time it continually drops each season from 7mil to 6mil to only 5 million in his last season. So I'm curious will the viewership goes up or continues the downward trend
them eyes woa
she's the nicest human being. i can't wait to see her on sunday
Dont have BBC America or Amazon Prime so gonna watch it on Google Play. Can't wait! The "Welcome Jodie" new Doctor reveal clip gave me chills and happy tears! She's amazing.
