I love how that person was obviously just saying Sanji should use Germa technology to its fullest and give up human emotion to help Luffy, but Merphy turned it into "Sanji abandons the Straw Hats to serve Judge" and then her ENTIRE cursed fanfiction came from this misunderstanding.
There was actually a really good fanfic I read a while back where Sanji made the choice to remove his emotions during the fight with Queen and ends up winning, but then has to deal with no emotions afterwards and how he and the crew interact in the aftermath. It may have made me cry a few times. Talk about tragic. orz

When Vivi Joins, I want Brook to go from fawning over her to being absolutely disgusted with her upon learning she tried to kill Laboon. He storms off if a hoof, saying he doesn't even want to see /her panties. Then after a whole arc, she redeems herself, and Brook forgives her, and finally asks to see her panties. The arc ends with Nami, Robin and Vivi happily wail on him like out of a sitcom.

Luffy and Shanks are going to challenge each other to a Davy back fight, Luffy waging his hat and Shanks waging the road Poneglyph for Luffy to find Laugh Tale.
I actually kind of love the Mihawk dying by falling down the stairs take. It makes Zoro realise that his pursuit of strength is ultimately meaningless because we all must face up against our own mortality in the end. And this is what steers him towards what was always the most important thing; human connection. It was his connection to Kuini that kept his passion burning, and now it is his dedication to his crew.
And then he goes and starts a ramp company and replaces all stairs he comes across with ramps, because that's the only way he can defeat stairs. In a more serious tone, what if Mihawk DOES die before Zoro can beat him? It doesn't have to be from falling down the stairs - maybe someone gets in a lucky shot or he drowns or something? Hell, what if he doesn't even die but gets crippled in some way so he can no longer be the best? It'd be an interesting thing for Zoro to have to deal with.
After all the fallout of this hypothetical situation, Luffy decides that people having absolute freedom maybe isn’t such a good idea, and that maybe there should be some rules. He realises Garp was right all along, so abandons being a pirate and instead joins the marines, serving directly under Koby (actually, he’s 3rd in command. Helmeppo is Koby’s first mate)
the emergency rations joke really could come full circle as just another joke. with a scene of chopper and crew being stranded somewhere and him coming to realize that this is the moment where it happens, the moment he's always feared. but he resigns himself to his crew, goes giant form, puts his leg up on something and reluctantly asks zoro to cut it off. zoro just flat out like "dude no im not doing that"
Spandam is pretty good character. He together with Lucci is a contrast to Luffy on the topic of leadership, because the entire Water 7 - Enies Lobby story arc for Luffy was about leadership and what it means to be a captain. Luffy finds his answer in strength, just like he said in the Arlong park, he can't do million things in which he relies on his crew, but one thing he can do is to beat the big evil guy when they cannot. In Enies Lobby Luffy decides that for him to be a captain it means to be the shield for his crew, to protect them from all the guys they can not beat, and that's why he develops gear 2. Spandam, on the other hand, is the opposite. He is weak, has 0 respect from his subordinates, and EL is the first major arc where Luffy has to fight a subordinate of the villain (Lucci) instead of the actual villain (Spandam). By the end of their fight even Lucci acknowledges Luffy as a worthy leader and compares him to Spandam, taking it full circle.
Spandam, Ceasar, and Foxy are all better villans than Dofi because they actually do the thing villans are supposed to do: make the audience hate them and want their demise. Dofi just has too much drip, everyone just thinks that he's to smexy to die.

It's a popular theory that we are hearing Usopp tell the story of One Piece, but what if he is telling a lie? Then Merphy's fan fiction of the crew's demise could have been the reality, while Usopp gets away and tells the story of what he dreamed would happen.
I agree with the take that Oda power scales based on vibes > feats, but the agenda pushing is still fun. As for that last take about Blackbeard winning, I'm of the mind that the Yonko will both make it to Laugh Tale and will acheive at least one of their goals or dreams. So even with Luffy becoming PK, Buggy, Shanks and Blackbeard will get something out of it for themselves.
The fandom certainly scales on vibes. Most of the cast are a lot closer in strength than people realize. Though their are some clear tiers like East Blue Coby has no prayer of facing Kaido, a lot of the differences are exaggerated both in-universe and out.

Buggy as the ultimate Roger stan will be enraged at the betrayal you know?
I think Shanks should be a good guy because otherwise, his character would not make much sense. But I think many people would unironically want this plottwist.
Zoro doesn't actually get lost, he's just purposefully looking for a way to get to his destination without encountering stairs (or he'll have a panic attack and ptsd flashbacks).
Ever since Oda decided that Chopper is cute merch and not a character anymore he's been totally redundant on the crew. They don't need a doctor in a world where no one dies.
They don't die because they have a doctor. They wouldn't have gotten to WC to rescue Sanji nor to Wano if Chopper didn't help cure the Minks. Luffy and multiple samurai would have died in Udon due to Queen's plague. Even in Onigashima, without Chopper Zoro would have been out of it earlier on since it was Chopper's injection that healed him enough to face King.
Also, regarding scabbards. I agree that Denjiro's arc was pretty bad at the end. But you could say something similar about all of the scabbards. You could easily combine them all into three or four strong characters, but we needed them to be nine, apparently. Ashura had his few strong emotional moments, then just disappeared from the story, only appearing as collective being that was "nine red scabbards"
I like denshiro thou and he adds a lot by His dynamic and friendship with the scrabbard that got most time to grow with. He got to be relevant in saving odens daughter and raise her as spy. He got to have a great cunning moment. He with the minks chefs and a character we folloe a lot over arcs, gets probably the best showcase as characters.
I like Denjiro too, but he could easily be combined with Kawamatsu or even Kikunojo, and not much of value would be lost really. Denjiro, Kinemon, Ashura and Kanjuro are one of the strongest scabbards personality and story relevance wise, and I'm putting Kanjuro there only because he ended up being the traitor. Mink rulers could easily be combined into one character, they rarely exist as truly separate entities from each other that do something other one would never do, thus making them interchangeable. I love most scabbards... But we don't have enough time to invest in making all of them feel relevant, important and memorable for everyone.
The Gecko Moria reviving Ace take isn't enough. Moria has to revive Bella-mere, Kuina, Vinsmoke Sora, Merry (somehow), Ussop's mother, Doctor Hiriluk, Robin's family, Tom, every member of the Rumbar Pirates and Oden (just in case Yamato joins). That's the perfect ending boss
Spandam might actually be deep and philosophical. At the very least he is well written. He is exactly the character he is supposed to be with no deviation. He is basically like luffy, he knows what he wants and he’s gonna go for it, he just uses other’s strength and deplorable methods.
I need an arc of Brook just teaching the straw hats how to play instruments. Zoro and Sanji could have a face off with who can play the recorder the best.

And I love it that way. Power levels are always weird in shonen and some storys get ruined over hard numbers on power scaling. Also with how diverse power sets are in One Piece there will always be situations where a Kizaru is better than a Kaido and vice versa. Power scaling them rarely makes sense.
A development I've thought of is that Buggy gaining the determination to once again go after the One Piece will awaken either his Haki/Devil Fruit and become not necessarily the strongest character but deserving of his title of one of the Four Emperors.
My late bad take is that fake out deaths do a lot for the story. The better the fake out death, the more joy you feel when a character turns out to have survived. They make me so sad each time they happen and then so overjoyed when a character comes back to life. Like Pound. I'm so glad that he survived, despite his fake out death being so well done.
This is only a bad take beacuse of your reasoning imo. Oda loves to eat his cake and have it too, both in terms of character deaths but also in fights. He will sometimes ignore pre established or logical facts to make things more hype/dramatic.
A bad (but cool) take I saw on Reddit - After Zoro becomes the greatest swordsman he will go to Ivankov and ask him to turn him into a female, this will be his last gratitude to Kuina.
Then she will marry Sanji and give birth to so many blue haired kids. After 10 kids,Sanji sees them all and says “They are all-blue” and realises he achieved his dream. He uses his kids as cooking ingredients and everyone lives happily ever after.
If anything it should be Zoro, no? He was a bounty hunter at least and has a huge gap in his backstory of "traveling around the East Blue" for like five years before ever meeting Luffy, Chopper on the other hand was raised by a pirate-loving doctor
I never really thought about it before, but Zoro and Nami do have a dynamic that is pretty fun to watch in a romance anime. Bumbling idiot and too serious. They’re also both heavy drinkers, which is fun. Wierd take, but I always shipped Robin with Luffy in my head; I think some would ship her with Franky. I just think back on all the times Luffy would make a wild choice and the crew would be shouting “Why?!” And Robin would just laugh and smile and just accept Luffy’s decision wholeheartedly. Also the scene in Sabaody where Kuma is attacking the crew and Robin is the last one, and Luffy and Robin scream eachother’s names. I think if it comes down to it, Sanji will actually end up with Pudding.
I actually completely unironically thought Zoro and Nami would make a good couple in the early anime. Not that I really believed it would happen, but they had really good chemistry. It kind of got watered down after they entered the grand line and more and more characters and dynamics got added and I definitely don’t believe it will ever happen…but I was aboard that train for a bit there

Power Scaling being "vibes"? Definitely agree more than not. Oda is writing a fun pirate comic, not a D&D campaign. It has to fit into the realm of plausibility (like Zoro could not have beaten Mihawk at Baratie at that point in his journey, no matter what). Haki is only strong because it's tied to willpower, which basically means "I want it more, and I'm more determined" Back to Zoro, he needed that loss to build his determination upon, and physical strength comes after determination.

Could you read lord of Mysteries? It's a Chinese novel with a touch of HP Lovecraft horror. It's an amazing novel and a second novel in the series is also getting released slowly, and it's just amazing; it's definitely worth the read. ❤

Hey Merphy. I don't know if you have read the Daevabad Trilogy Series but I highly recommend it if you haven't. I know you have read the first one (The City Of Brass) as you have mentioned it in one of your videos but the series has much more to offer in the next two books.
Merphy just casually creating a new ending to One Piece, by piecing it together from all the bad takes. The good old formula of: The Stairs - NTR - The Angsty wish for power by sacrificing his emotions.
Also my bad take (which is real, not a joke): Foxy’s arc is one of my favorite in the series. It was actually my first exposure to one piece and I really enjoyed the humor of it, so after seeing that I decided to go back and read from the beginning
Oda should take a 22 year break before the end so the live action show can catch up, pass the manga, and come up with its own ending that the show runners rush out so they can work on other projects
I think Imu should be revealed to not be imortal (from laws fruit) and instead have it revealed it was actually Foxy, and give him a tragic backstory of why he's continued the Davy back fights for hundreds of years.. just for good measure :)

A year ago one of my friends (who was watching Skypiea at the time) told me about his theory that Luffy is actually a villain and is secretly planning to destroy all of the other crew members dreams (or in some cases achieving their dream first). My favorite example he gave is the idea of Luffy destroying the All Blue

In a more serious tone, what if Mihawk DOES die before Zoro can beat him? It doesn't have to be from falling down the stairs - maybe someone gets in a lucky shot or he drowns or something? Hell, what if he doesn't even die but gets crippled in some way so he can no longer be the best? It'd be an interesting thing for Zoro to have to deal with.

the emergency rations joke really could come full circle as just another joke. with a scene of chopper and crew being stranded somewhere and him coming to realize that this is the moment where it happens, the moment he's always feared. but he resigns himself to his crew, goes giant form, puts his leg up on something and reluctantly asks zoro to cut it off. zoro just flat out like "dude no im not doing that"

Spandam is pretty good character. He together with Lucci is a contrast to Luffy on the topic of leadership, because the entire Water 7 - Enies Lobby story arc for Luffy was about leadership and what it means to be a captain. Luffy finds his answer in strength, just like he said in the Arlong park, he can't do million things in which he relies on his crew, but one thing he can do is to beat the big evil guy when they cannot. In Enies Lobby Luffy decides that for him to be a captain it means to be the shield for his crew, to protect them from all the guys they can not beat, and that's why he develops gear 2.
Spandam, on the other hand, is the opposite. He is weak, has 0 respect from his subordinates, and EL is the first major arc where Luffy has to fight a subordinate of the villain (Lucci) instead of the actual villain (Spandam). By the end of their fight even Lucci acknowledges Luffy as a worthy leader and compares him to Spandam, taking it full circle.
Spandam, Ceasar, and Foxy are all better villans than Dofi because they actually do the thing villans are supposed to do: make the audience hate them and want their demise. Dofi just has too much drip, everyone just thinks that he's to smexy to die.
I hope he and fake Robin finds love.

I’m sure there were plenty of people back than talking about it, probably just a bit less. And its not all arguments and being super serious, I think a lot of people do have genuine fun discussing it.
It's a popular theory that we are hearing Usopp tell the story of One Piece, but what if he is telling a lie? Then Merphy's fan fiction of the crew's demise could have been the reality, while Usopp gets away and tells the story of what he dreamed would happen.
I agree with the take that Oda power scales based on vibes > feats, but the agenda pushing is still fun. As for that last take about Blackbeard winning, I'm of the mind that the Yonko will both make it to Laugh Tale and will acheive at least one of their goals or dreams. So even with Luffy becoming PK, Buggy, Shanks and Blackbeard will get something out of it for themselves.
The fandom certainly scales on vibes. Most of the cast are a lot closer in strength than people realize.
Though their are some clear tiers like East Blue Coby has no prayer of facing Kaido, a lot of the differences are exaggerated both in-universe and out.

This makes sense cause he broke Buggy's heart when he put the search for the one piece on hold. Buggy will be the character that takes Shanks place and saves Luffy from a Shanks sneak attack and clash equally with him, it's gonna be juicy and filled with drama. Buggy as the ultimate Roger stan will be enraged at the betrayal you know?
I think Shanks should be a good guy because otherwise, his character would not make much sense. But I think many people would unironically want this plottwist.

Zoro doesn't actually get lost, he's just purposefully looking for a way to get to his destination without encountering stairs (or he'll have a panic attack and ptsd flashbacks).

Honestly I feel that. In turn for more exciting stories we got less intercrew drama. Like needing to find a doctor cause someone is sick.
They don't die because they have a doctor. They wouldn't have gotten to WC to rescue Sanji nor to Wano if Chopper didn't help cure the Minks. Luffy and multiple samurai would have died in Udon due to Queen's plague. Even in Onigashima, without Chopper Zoro would have been out of it earlier on since it was Chopper's injection that healed him enough to face King.
Punk Hazard Chopper is goated tho.
Also, regarding scabbards.
I agree that Denjiro's arc was pretty bad at the end. But you could say something similar about all of the scabbards. You could easily combine them all into three or four strong characters, but we needed them to be nine, apparently.
Ashura had his few strong emotional moments, then just disappeared from the story, only appearing as collective being that was "nine red scabbards"

I like Denjiro too, but he could easily be combined with Kawamatsu or even Kikunojo, and not much of value would be lost really.
Denjiro, Kinemon, Ashura and Kanjuro are one of the strongest scabbards personality and story relevance wise, and I'm putting Kanjuro there only because he ended up being the traitor.
Mink rulers could easily be combined into one character, they rarely exist as truly separate entities from each other that do something other one would never do, thus making them interchangeable.
I love most scabbards...
But we don't have enough time to invest in making all of them feel relevant, important and memorable for everyone.
The Gecko Moria reviving Ace take isn't enough. Moria has to revive Bella-mere, Kuina, Vinsmoke Sora, Merry (somehow), Ussop's mother, Doctor Hiriluk, Robin's family, Tom, every member of the Rumbar Pirates and Oden (just in case Yamato joins). That's the perfect ending boss

Spandam might actually be deep and philosophical. At the very least he is well written. He is exactly the character he is supposed to be with no deviation. He is basically like luffy, he knows what he wants and he’s gonna go for it, he just uses other’s strength and deplorable methods.
Zorro‘s inability to find his way is due to his unconscious hate of stairs, a thing who’s sole purpose is to help you get to where you want to go

10:05 100% One Piece just has vibes based powerscaling, which is why serious discussions about who would win and who's "Yonko Commander" level all kinda silly. It's pretty clear Oda makes character's as strong as they need to be for the story he wants to tell in the moment.
And I love it that way. Power levels are always weird in shonen and some storys get ruined over hard numbers on power scaling. Also with how diverse power sets are in One Piece there will always be situations where a Kizaru is better than a Kaido and vice versa. Power scaling them rarely makes sense.

My late bad take is that fake out deaths do a lot for the story. The better the fake out death, the more joy you feel when a character turns out to have survived. They make me so sad each time they happen and then so overjoyed when a character comes back to life. Like Pound. I'm so glad that he survived, despite his fake out death being so well done.

This is only a bad take beacuse of your reasoning imo. Oda loves to eat his cake and have it too, both in terms of character deaths but also in fights. He will sometimes ignore pre established or logical facts to make things more hype/dramatic.

A bad (but cool) take I saw on Reddit - After Zoro becomes the greatest swordsman he will go to Ivankov and ask him to turn him into a female, this will be his last gratitude to Kuina.
Then she will marry Sanji and give birth to so many blue haired kids. After 10 kids,Sanji sees them all and says “They are all-blue” and realises he achieved his dream. He uses his kids as cooking ingredients and everyone lives happily ever after.

I never really thought about it before, but Zoro and Nami do have a dynamic that is pretty fun to watch in a romance anime. Bumbling idiot and too serious. They’re also both heavy drinkers, which is fun.
Wierd take, but I always shipped Robin with Luffy in my head; I think some would ship her with Franky. I just think back on all the times Luffy would make a wild choice and the crew would be shouting “Why?!” And Robin would just laugh and smile and just accept Luffy’s decision wholeheartedly. Also the scene in Sabaody where Kuma is attacking the crew and Robin is the last one, and Luffy and Robin scream eachother’s names.
I think if it comes down to it, Sanji will actually end up with Pudding.
I actually completely unironically thought Zoro and Nami would make a good couple in the early anime. Not that I really believed it would happen, but they had really good chemistry. It kind of got watered down after they entered the grand line and more and more characters and dynamics got added and I definitely don’t believe it will ever happen…but I was aboard that train for a bit there

Honestly, I'd say my take is that they should have done something with Captain John's reanimated corpse in Thriller Bark. Just have it persist weirdly and in a terrifying manner for a bit. Freak someone people out, make it to Wano and make Big Mom and Kaido super uncomfortable watching a former crew mate zombie walk around demanding booze.
Don't know if this is a bad take but I see all flashbacks as the characters memories forgiving the Buggy and Shanks looking like adults and Raleigh looking like a pimp (anime only) as Buggy's perceived memory

I don't know if you have read the Daevabad Trilogy Series but I highly recommend it if you haven't. I know you have read the first one (The City Of Brass) as you have mentioned it in one of your videos but the series has much more to offer in the next two books.

Foxy’s arc is one of my favorite in the series. It was actually my first exposure to one piece and I really enjoyed the humor of it, so after seeing that I decided to go back and read from the beginning
Oda should take a 22 year break before the end so the live action show can catch up, pass the manga, and come up with its own ending that the show runners rush out so they can work on other projects
I think Imu should be revealed to not be imortal (from laws fruit) and instead have it revealed it was actually Foxy, and give him a tragic backstory of why he's continued the Davy back fights for hundreds of years.. just for good measure :)

A year ago one of my friends (who was watching Skypiea at the time) told me about his theory that Luffy is actually a villain and is secretly planning to destroy all of the other crew members dreams (or in some cases achieving their dream first).
My favorite example he gave is the idea of Luffy destroying the All Blue
they baited u with ashura doji...but his death was INDEFENSIBLE
