I think the theme of this arc is less about sacrificing those you love and more on free will. The seraphim are the most obvious embodiment of that, but you could argue Kizaru isn't much different in how unquestioningly he follows orders. A fight between Kizaru and Kuma or the Seraphim directly would be thematically interesting - a machine who acts for himself against a man who is little more than a tool for the government.
@@PaoloSarti94I think Kizaru and Garp are the same to be honest, and Kuzan and Sentomaru are the students who broke from the status quo and want to follow their free will while their masters can't or refuse to understand why they exercise their will that way so against everything they were apprenticed to be.
I like the mirror to their original fight. In Sabaody Luffy was dead serious trying to save his friends while Kizaru was messing around. In Egghead Luffy is essentially playing around in Gear 5th while Kizaru is a bit more serious than normal, having to eliminate his friends for his mission.

Every single one of them can avoid the sea with it one way or another too. The only one we haven't seen in action is Akainu making his own landing point
after the timeskip it felt like every fight was getting more and more srious, but with G5 now, it feels like we are back to east blue, where fights were important but luffy was always joking and playing throughout them
We’re not up against an evil oppressor directly right now. I think that while gear 5 allows luffy to enjoy fighting more being freer, future fights will feel more serious/dramatic
Gear 5 is kind of similar to the Fusion forms in DBZ - though in the case of Luffy it's due to his overwhelming joy instead of arrogance like with the Saiyan fusions
It seems she'd love MASHLE as its basically luffy gear 5 all story...or one punch man but mashle more due to it sticking mostly to the jokes. She'd get bored when it goes full shonen but it was a fun short read. On paper 6 or 7 out of 10 but I somehow finished it faster than I did with the on paper better and more serious hell's paradise which I'm still in the middle of and gave up and am gonna watch the youtube break down by diavolo...still great stories I think I'm just spoiled by good media and have trouble getting into new stuff.

I think that a few chapters ago with everyone eating foreshadows either Kizaru’s or Sentamaru’s death. If I remember correctly there is a Japanese tradition of eating your favorite meal or something like that before going into battle and Kizaru loves ramen while Sentimaru’s favorite food is onigiri.

This section is emphasizing something I don't think people quite grasped about Logias, even still. They are not made of the element, they ARE the element. How hot can magma be? That's how hot Akainu can get. So when Oda introduced a guy who IS LIGHT, that's kind of a huge deal considering the speed of light and it's many other capabilities. All to put into perspective the fact that Kizaru put his hands up when Benn Beckman pointed a gun at him.

I love that Kizaru basically plays along instead of 'getting angry'. Heh. He just has all the chill. Unlike other fans, I didn't expect a big fight - i pretty much expected exactly this.
Crazy theory. Bonnie is a clone. She has been called a young girl by people who could be in the know. She has said multiple times that her dad would not have left her. So Kumas daughter couldve died somehow and thats what motivated him to undergo the operation in the first place. At a primal level, he heard Bonnie was alive and is doing everything he can to get to her.
Maybe a clone of his wife , the former queen of Kuma's Kingdom, and he raised her as hi daughter. I found it weird that during the Reverie her aged form was recognized as a queen by the Mariejoie's guards, that can''t be a coincidence.

Kizaru doesn't really want to fight. He is there to complete a mission, kill Vegapunk and that's it. We are thinking that Luffy wants a revenge because he remembers what happen at Sabaody but he is protecting Vegapunk. Another parallel we have, at Sabaody, we got Luffy wanting to protect the Straw Hats. This time on Egghead, Luffy is protecting Vegapunk I mean sure, we can say that Luffy is having fun BUT also same with Kizaru. It makes me wonder also if Kizaru is gonna take Luffy seriously and then later on, he can kill Vegapunk I also like the trash talking between Zoro and Lucci. But seriously, Lucci doesn't stand a chance even if he is awakened. Zoro literally admits that he can't beat King without knowing what race he is. He is having a hard time fighting lunarian in Wano arc but Lucci are not on King's level
With all the focus on the admirals, with them being challenged personally and Kizarus "unclear justice" I think he will end up being the one who pushes back or accepts failure here and ends up being killed by Saturn. Most likely pinning the blame on the Straw Hats and setting up something that will push Sakazuki into making his own moves. Sakazuki already hates having to do what Garp refused to do, being the Celestial Dragons errand boy. I think something like this could tip the scales, pushing him forward on anything he might have brewing in the background.
It seems like fairly good measure of how impressive/developed a character has become is the accuracy with which Merphy remembers their name. So points up for Kizaru and Sentomaru, formerly Light Guy and Sumo Guy!
let's just say that this is completely different from the sabaody arc where luffy and crew is in serious condition and kizaru is taking it lightly while here we are kizaru is in tight condition where he has to kill his friend while luffy is enjoying himself.. the situation is still hectic but luffy's mood is lighting it up
One thing I noticed, Kizaru is lazy but focused and really good at his job. But if he gets distracted isn't because he is the "I dont care kind of lazy" is because he is enjoying the fight. I think that Kizaru is no longer going to be an admiral after this arc and that this is going to be a chance for Koby to buil an arc towards becoming an admiral.
If the sea drains fruit users of their energy, and they can't use their power, then it stands to reason Bonney could not alter her age while on the sea, and if we remember when the Strawhats found her at the sea, she was a little girl, I thik that was her true age, and we didn't even realized it. It stands to reason that's why Vegapunk keeps calling her a little girl
I don’t think it prevents them from using their abilities. Remember in arlong park where they just pulled luffy’s head out of the water while his body was down there.
There is a native Japanese speaker (youtuber channel called Dawn & Dusk) that points out the distinction of Kanji when a character talks. Oda loves word play and is constantly dropping hints to the reader which doesn't translate well in the english version of the manga. Kizaru during the fight becomes more and more serious and starts to drop the elongated casual sentences for more short and direct dialogue. Hearing this I sort of want to learn Japanese well enough to re read the entire series, but idk if anyone has time for that.

It's so underrated, and so many people who read it, claim that it's their favorite book ever. I think you will definitely enjoy it. It's slice of life with dark themes in between about a modern girl magically landing in video game type of world. And it's available online for e- read.
I'm loving Kizaru vs Luffy. Kizaru was my favorite Admiral from his introduction (his personality is just amusing as hell to me) and I've been loving that we have been getting more depth on him as a character in this arc and seeing the way he's choosing to try to deal with Luffy while mainly just focusing on his mission. The silliness is fun and the fact that neither one is trying super hard (due to the nature of Gear 5 and Kizaru not really enjoying the mission he is having to do) makes it more entertaining than if it were just a typical One Piece fight from the start.
I want to believe that, since been waiting for it since Little Garden, we are going to Elbaf now. BUT! Fishman Island was announced by the crew as their next destination in Post Enies Lobby, back in Jan 2007, and we only got there in Nov 2010. I know Oda is not gonna take 4 years for it, but I cannot discard a detour between Egghead and Elbaf. Don know if it will be the crew making a pitstop somewhere else (for example, Blackbeard's ship catches up to them when they are leaving, and they somehow manage to lure Luffy to Hachinosu, either because of Garp, or the outdated info of them having Koby, or whatever), or just jumping to an arc that doesn't involve the crew, like what we did with Reverie. And also, we need to acknowledge that Vivi, Morgans, and Wapol are also closeby. So we have as pieces on the board: * Strawhats + Vegapunks * Sentomaru (Will he end up joining them? Will he be taken prisoner? Will he be executed?) * J. García Saturn * Kizaru (Will he carry out his orders? Will VP escape and prompt him to give chase? Will his Unclear Justice decant on the SW side?) * Blackbeard ship (presumably Lafitte and Katarina Devon, but there's another ship an island away with a bunch of his crew (including a guy that can teleport) and Pudding) * Vivi, Morgans and Wapol floating nearby And on the side deck we have Kuzan and Garp at Hachinosu, Koby + Tashigi + others escaping Hachinosu, Kid's crew obliterated by Shanks at Elbaf, Law and Beppo escaping BB... This can just go any direction imaginable, and it'll fit perfectly
Absolutely LOVED this Chapter!!!! I also agree with how the fights now are funny and playful because that's how I would expect two insanely powerful people to combat. I wonder tho if it would be difficult for Luffy to enter his Gear 5 mode when confronted with people who push emotional buttons like Akainu - also given that he killed his brother in front of his eyes. Being confronted with him would resurface that horror which would be a block to Luffy's emotions of joy. Also Blackbeard being the complete opposite to gear 5. It's gonna be super interesting. seeing luffy overcome all the trauma to truly be free
Not Ganna lie, as much as I love the outcome, I'm personally a little disappointed. I didn't realize it until this arc, but I loved the arcs where the strawhats have to escape from the island for whatever threat that's there for them. I feel like this was the last organic time for it to happen without it feeling like an endgame move to keep the story going for a few extra pages or dramatic effects that will change everything. But I do love what's happening on page. Just a realization that the days of the Going Merry and the crew comedically sailing away while being shot at from a danger they can't yet handle is far in the past.
Ikr. I miss those times. Now it’s at the point where Luffy and his crew are getting strong enough to fight back and win instead where they had to escape the marines and other powerful forces
The stakes have changed. It would be ridiculous for them to still be outrunning fodder marines. The marines after them right now cannot be outrun. They have to be defeated.
Something that I'm surprised nobody has commented on is that Luffy is prefacing all his attack names with Dawn in this chapter. I don't remember him doing that in the past and have to imagine it has something to do with G5

This chapter made me think about why Saturn is here, when vegapunk said that who controls the Pacifista controls the war made me think oh you stupid obviously the need someone who has authority above the punks
Any notice how oddly merciful Kizaru is? He's never followed up on any of his attacks that landed on Luffy. He left sentomaru alive despite being able to kill him. He didnt even HARM Ussop despite hsving him by the throat. He just left once he realized Vegapunk wasn't there.
Kizaru was merciful in Marineford as well... He could have killed WB but chose to aim for the chest. He could have killed Luffy a number of times but he always kicked him straight to a stronger ally, later he aimed for the key in Luffy's hand when he could have easily gone for Luffy. Even towards the end of the arc the reason Buggy dropped Luffy to Law is because Kizaru explicitly told him to drop Luffy. Lastly, when Luffy escaped he said "If he survived after that then he had luck by his side" and then a panel showing both Akainu and Kuzan silent appears. Kizaru has been so kind with Luffy unironically.

Even in Sabody, he didnt care that someone tried to shoot him, he just cared if they knew where Luffy was. He could've wiped the floor with all of supernovas before getting to Luffy if he so wished, but even after Luffy escaped, he didnt care. More than merciful I would say, ones like Kid and Killer were infamous for hurting civilians and he couldnt care less

My theory on Bonney is that she is a clone (very original) but isn't Big Mom 2, or Connie, or her mother, but herself. Something terrible happened to the original at some point, and the best her dad could do was push her memories into a clone.
I like the contrast between sacrificing for those you love (kuma, sentomaru, bonnie and the straw hats) and "sacrificing those you love for the cause (admirals)" 🤔👍💪👊
Tbh I'm not generally big on fights, I enjoy them but don't really get hooked with them or excited by them, I like the development of the story around them better, and this is probably the first time I've actually read a fight that hsd me hooked, enjoying it, analyzing every inch of each panel, hoping for more, and ofc laughing through it As a fan base, most of us tend to say that even though One Piece fights are great, they are not the highlight of the manga. I feel like Oda said "really? The fights aren't the best thing? Hold my beer"
To me, Sentoumaru didn't really have that much development... in fact I dunno about some of you but I'm getting a bit annoyed that Oda continuously creates traitors out of people in order to further a good chunk of narrative. I wish he'd just do something different at this point when it comes to getting the Strawhats and gang out of a bind or even going deeper into enemy plot lines, it's just all too commonplace the last few arcs.
I wonder if you're right about Vegapunk not making it out. I can see the Gorosei having Vegapunk taken out, then shifting the blame to Luffy in order to keep people FROM seeing him as a liberator
The final arcs of One piece will be great. Garp's defeat was so great. Now we have Kuma Bonney flashback, already far surpassing Nami Bellemere flashback. Given that Oda had been refining for decades, immagine what we will get for Shanks, Dragon, Blackbeard, Imu, Mihawj, Akainu, Sabo etc. Since Stussy is Rocks pirates clone, imagine if we get Xebec clone as one of God's knights. If Oda can already deliver this much with flashbacks, if we get scenes like Koala dying in front of Jinbei, Reiju dying to save Sanji again, Hancock or Sabo sacrificing for Luffy, Brook meeting Laboon on final moments of his life, Luffy dying after fulfilling his dream, I swear this series will be worshipped exponentially more.
I have the slight suspicious that the fact that this arc kind of hinges on the stupid authority system of the Pacifistas/Seraphims it's a set up to the final plot twist of Catarina Devon transforming into Saturn and stealing all of Vegapunk's weapons. Assuming that they can be tricked like that, given how the authority system works, once she does that not even the other elder stars can void her orders since they are on the same authority level (same situation as Stussy&Lucci). It's evident that next chapters, Saturn will reveal himself to overrule Vegapunk's orders, so probably the "Catarina plot twist", if it actually happens, might happen after the dust settles and the crew escapes the island (in a similar way how Impel Down ended).
Personally I love the fight that is currently going on, as you said it is just so much fun and makes you laugh out loud! I think the ones not fond of how it is portrayed are the power scalers, they must feel frustrated over the silliness of a power house fight lol

I’m loving how this fight is playing out. Oda already confirmed that kizaru is very mission focused, and him tricking luffy so that he could keep going after Stella has been great to see. And also, even though kizaru may not be as physically strong as kaido, his abilities and skills are still lethal, as he is able to casually hurt gear 5th.
One thing I like about this fight is that, even though they're both kind of goofing around, they're also both being strategic in how they do it. Neither of them has the goal of defeating the other per se, which is usually what Luffy's fights are - this person hurt someone who fed Luffy, so Luffy is going to knock them out and make them leave - but instead Luffy is trying to distract and slow down Kizaru, who in turn is just trying to distract and get around Luffy to accomplish his actual goal. It makes for a really dynamic fight, and kind of a role reversal, since now Luffy is the obstacle to be overcome instead of the little guy. And honestly, if anything makes him an emperor, it's that.
One Piece fights have always been different and creative. do you forget that Luffy was eating a Yonko commander on WCI and beat him with a hilarious tankman for where he swallows him into his belly and shoots him out
Saturn and blackbeard are the two wildcards which will decide how this fight will end. Most likely Luffy will get the gloves from Atlas which interact with light and corner Kizaru. Sanji in a normal fashion is very effective after wano were he was not very useful but that is on brand. Zoro is on equal terms with Lucci which was a surprise. I expected him to toy with Lucci at this point after all he is the first mate of a Yonko.Right now it feels like Sanji might be equally or slightly more powerful than Zoro.
I'm constantly looking forward to what G5 does too everytime Luffy brings it to the table. Some people in the community have been getting tired of all the eye popping but I personally can't get enough. Kizaru is the first so far who seems to be able to resist it but it just makes you wonder who else in the future will have their eyes pop out. Overall, I still think Luffy's just barely scratched the surface with the fruit. Can't wait for more!
Honestly I would think that Saturn will do nothing and watch all the marines get decimated just to subvert the obvious. it feels like such an Oda move where you think "oh Saturn will control the mark 3" only for him to sit back and watch the chaos with no care whatsoever.
I’ve seen some people express disappointment that “serious Luffy” and him just doing Roger v Whitebeard / pre-Gear 5 Luffy v Kaido haki fighting might be gone the way of the dodo now that G5 is here. I’m not convinced it is gone completely, but even if it was - that’s literally what all other shonen battle manga do anyway, and it sort of minimises the creative nature of the DF powers in favour of just “fighter with biggest magic power quotient wins” - which is a legit recurring trope/issue with a lot of shonen battle manga. Even though One Piece is still doing this to a degree, this Kizaru fight is mainly DF powers interacting in creative ways with very little “muh haki bigger” moments, and that is a bit of a core appeal of the series since the very first Buggy fight imo, and I’m glad Oda is sticking to his guns on that till the very end.
I feel it's building up for Kuma to save the day again. Old body dies, his memories go to S-Bear so Bonney has a happy ending and it's another kingdom that will be friendly with Luffy. Maybe Kuma's main body has a self explode thing and that hurts the Gorosei?

Unlike other fans, I didn't expect a big fight - i pretty much expected exactly this.
Crazy theory. Bonnie is a clone. She has been called a young girl by people who could be in the know. She has said multiple times that her dad would not have left her. So Kumas daughter couldve died somehow and thats what motivated him to undergo the operation in the first place. At a primal level, he heard Bonnie was alive and is doing everything he can to get to her.
Maybe a clone of his wife , the former queen of Kuma's Kingdom, and he raised her as hi daughter. I found it weird that during the Reverie her aged form was recognized as a queen by the Mariejoie's guards, that can''t be a coincidence.

Kizaru doesn't really want to fight. He is there to complete a mission, kill Vegapunk and that's it. We are thinking that Luffy wants a revenge because he remembers what happen at Sabaody but he is protecting Vegapunk. Another parallel we have, at Sabaody, we got Luffy wanting to protect the Straw Hats. This time on Egghead, Luffy is protecting Vegapunk
I mean sure, we can say that Luffy is having fun BUT also same with Kizaru. It makes me wonder also if Kizaru is gonna take Luffy seriously and then later on, he can kill Vegapunk

I'm LOVING the Luffy vs Kizaru fight rn and I look forward to more of it every week.
With all the focus on the admirals, with them being challenged personally and Kizarus "unclear justice" I think he will end up being the one who pushes back or accepts failure here and ends up being killed by Saturn. Most likely pinning the blame on the Straw Hats and setting up something that will push Sakazuki into making his own moves. Sakazuki already hates having to do what Garp refused to do, being the Celestial Dragons errand boy. I think something like this could tip the scales, pushing him forward on anything he might have brewing in the background.
It seems like fairly good measure of how impressive/developed a character has become is the accuracy with which Merphy remembers their name. So points up for Kizaru and Sentomaru, formerly Light Guy and Sumo Guy!

let's just say that this is completely different from the sabaody arc where luffy and crew is in serious condition and kizaru is taking it lightly while here we are kizaru is in tight condition where he has to kill his friend while luffy is enjoying himself.. the situation is still hectic but luffy's mood is lighting it up
Both times of sabaody, oda gave sentomaru positive interactions w luffy, so I always was waiting for him to b that kobi type marine for us. Love it
One thing I noticed, Kizaru is lazy but focused and really good at his job. But if he gets distracted isn't because he is the "I dont care kind of lazy" is because he is enjoying the fight. I think that Kizaru is no longer going to be an admiral after this arc and that this is going to be a chance for Koby to buil an arc towards becoming an admiral.

If the sea drains fruit users of their energy, and they can't use their power, then it stands to reason Bonney could not alter her age while on the sea, and if we remember when the Strawhats found her at the sea, she was a little girl, I thik that was her true age, and we didn't even realized it. I don’t think it prevents them from using their abilities. Remember in arlong park where they just pulled luffy’s head out of the water while his body was down there.

There is a native Japanese speaker (youtuber channel called Dawn & Dusk) that points out the distinction of Kanji when a character talks. Oda loves word play and is constantly dropping hints to the reader which doesn't translate well in the english version of the manga. Kizaru during the fight becomes more and more serious and starts to drop the elongated casual sentences for more short and direct dialogue.
Hearing this I sort of want to learn Japanese well enough to re read the entire series, but idk if anyone has time for that.

Ps 2 : I don't know if you have read any web novel but there's one named "the wandering inn", if you haven't read it, try it. It's so underrated, and so many people who read it, claim that it's their favorite book ever. I think you will definitely enjoy it. It's slice of life with dark themes in between about a modern girl magically landing in video game type of world.

I'm loving Kizaru vs Luffy. Kizaru was my favorite Admiral from his introduction (his personality is just amusing as hell to me) and I've been loving that we have been getting more depth on him as a character in this arc and seeing the way he's choosing to try to deal with Luffy while mainly just focusing on his mission. The silliness is fun and the fact that neither one is trying super hard (due to the nature of Gear 5 and Kizaru not really enjoying the mission he is having to do) makes it more entertaining than if it were just a typical One Piece fight from the start.

I want to believe that, since been waiting for it since Little Garden, we are going to Elbaf now. BUT! Fishman Island was announced by the crew as their next destination in Post Enies Lobby, back in Jan 2007, and we only got there in Nov 2010. I know Oda is not gonna take 4 years for it, but I cannot discard a detour between Egghead and Elbaf. Don know if it will be the crew making a pitstop somewhere else (for example, Blackbeard's ship catches up to them when they are leaving, and they somehow manage to lure Luffy to Hachinosu, either because of Garp, or the outdated info of them having Koby, or whatever), or just jumping to an arc that doesn't involve the crew, like what we did with Reverie. And also, we need to acknowledge that Vivi, Morgans, and Wapol are also closeby.
So we have as pieces on the board:
* Strawhats + Vegapunks
* Sentomaru (Will he end up joining them? Will he be taken prisoner? Will he be executed?)
* J. García Saturn
* Kizaru (Will he carry out his orders? Will VP escape and prompt him to give chase? Will his Unclear Justice decant on the SW side?)
* Blackbeard ship (presumably Lafitte and Katarina Devon, but there's another ship an island away with a bunch of his crew (including a guy that can teleport) and Pudding)
* Vivi, Morgans and Wapol floating nearby
And on the side deck we have Kuzan and Garp at Hachinosu, Koby + Tashigi + others escaping Hachinosu, Kid's crew obliterated by Shanks at Elbaf, Law and Beppo escaping BB...
This can just go any direction imaginable, and it'll fit perfectly

Absolutely LOVED this Chapter!!!! I also agree with how the fights now are funny and playful because that's how I would expect two insanely powerful people to combat. I wonder tho if it would be difficult for Luffy to enter his Gear 5 mode when confronted with people who push emotional buttons like Akainu - also given that he killed his brother in front of his eyes. Being confronted with him would resurface that horror which would be a block to Luffy's emotions of joy. Also Blackbeard being the complete opposite to gear 5. It's gonna be super interesting. seeing luffy overcome all the trauma to truly be free
Not Ganna lie, as much as I love the outcome, I'm personally a little disappointed. I didn't realize it until this arc, but I loved the arcs where the strawhats have to escape from the island for whatever threat that's there for them. I feel like this was the last organic time for it to happen without it feeling like an endgame move to keep the story going for a few extra pages or dramatic effects that will change everything. But I do love what's happening on page. Just a realization that the days of the Going Merry and the crew comedically sailing away while being shot at from a danger they can't yet handle is far in the past.

Something that I'm surprised nobody has commented on is that Luffy is prefacing all his attack names with Dawn in this chapter. I don't remember him doing that in the past and have to imagine it has something to do with G5
He did do it twice back in his fight against Lucci with Dawn Rocket and Dawn Whip but agree he did it more again this chapter.

Any notice how oddly merciful Kizaru is? He's never followed up on any of his attacks that landed on Luffy. He left sentomaru alive despite being able to kill him. He didnt even HARM Ussop despite hsving him by the throat. He just left once he realized Vegapunk wasn't there.
Kizaru was merciful in Marineford as well... He could have killed WB but chose to aim for the chest. He could have killed Luffy a number of times but he always kicked him straight to a stronger ally, later he aimed for the key in Luffy's hand when he could have easily gone for Luffy. Even towards the end of the arc the reason Buggy dropped Luffy to Law is because Kizaru explicitly told him to drop Luffy.
Lastly, when Luffy escaped he said "If he survived after that then he had luck by his side" and then a panel showing both Akainu and Kuzan silent appears. Kizaru has been so kind with Luffy unironically.

Even in Sabody, he didnt care that someone tried to shoot him, he just cared if they knew where Luffy was. He could've wiped the floor with all of supernovas before getting to Luffy if he so wished, but even after Luffy escaped, he didnt care.
More than merciful I would say, ones like Kid and Killer were infamous for hurting civilians and he couldnt care less

My theory on Bonney is that she is a clone (very original) but isn't Big Mom 2, or Connie, or her mother, but herself. Something terrible happened to the original at some point, and the best her dad could do was push her memories into a clone.

Tbh I'm not generally big on fights, I enjoy them but don't really get hooked with them or excited by them, I like the development of the story around them better, and this is probably the first time I've actually read a fight that hsd me hooked, enjoying it, analyzing every inch of each panel, hoping for more, and ofc laughing through it
As a fan base, most of us tend to say that even though One Piece fights are great, they are not the highlight of the manga. I feel like Oda said "really? The fights aren't the best thing? Hold my beer"

To me, Sentoumaru didn't really have that much development... in fact I dunno about some of you but I'm getting a bit annoyed that Oda continuously creates traitors out of people in order to further a good chunk of narrative. I wish he'd just do something different at this point when it comes to getting the Strawhats and gang out of a bind or even going deeper into enemy plot lines, it's just all too commonplace the last few arcs.
I wonder if you're right about Vegapunk not making it out. I can see the Gorosei having Vegapunk taken out, then shifting the blame to Luffy in order to keep people FROM seeing him as a liberator

With Blackbeard Pirates, clones, and holograms running around, my head is spinning from thinking 'is everything as it seems?'
The final arcs of One piece will be great. Garp's defeat was so great. Now we have Kuma Bonney flashback, already far surpassing Nami Bellemere flashback. Given that Oda had been refining for decades, immagine what we will get for Shanks, Dragon, Blackbeard, Imu, Mihawj, Akainu, Sabo etc. Since Stussy is Rocks pirates clone, imagine if we get Xebec clone as one of God's knights. If Oda can already deliver this much with flashbacks, if we get scenes like Koala dying in front of Jinbei, Reiju dying to save Sanji again, Hancock or Sabo sacrificing for Luffy, Brook meeting Laboon on final moments of his life, Luffy dying after fulfilling his dream, I swear this series will be worshipped exponentially more.
I have the slight suspicious that the fact that this arc kind of hinges on the stupid authority system of the Pacifistas/Seraphims it's a set up to the final plot twist of Catarina Devon transforming into Saturn and stealing all of Vegapunk's weapons. Assuming that they can be tricked like that, given how the authority system works, once she does that not even the other elder stars can void her orders since they are on the same authority level (same situation as Stussy&Lucci).
It's evident that next chapters, Saturn will reveal himself to overrule Vegapunk's orders, so probably the "Catarina plot twist", if it actually happens, might happen after the dust settles and the crew escapes the island (in a similar way how Impel Down ended).
Personally I love the fight that is currently going on, as you said it is just so much fun and makes you laugh out loud! I think the ones not fond of how it is portrayed are the power scalers, they must feel frustrated over the silliness of a power house fight lol

I’m loving how this fight is playing out. Oda already confirmed that kizaru is very mission focused, and him tricking luffy so that he could keep going after Stella has been great to see. And also, even though kizaru may not be as physically strong as kaido, his abilities and skills are still lethal, as he is able to casually hurt gear 5th.
One thing I like about this fight is that, even though they're both kind of goofing around, they're also both being strategic in how they do it. Neither of them has the goal of defeating the other per se, which is usually what Luffy's fights are - this person hurt someone who fed Luffy, so Luffy is going to knock them out and make them leave - but instead Luffy is trying to distract and slow down Kizaru, who in turn is just trying to distract and get around Luffy to accomplish his actual goal. It makes for a really dynamic fight, and kind of a role reversal, since now Luffy is the obstacle to be overcome instead of the little guy. And honestly, if anything makes him an emperor, it's that.
Kizaru's combat legitimately reminds me of Foxy
One Piece fights have always been different and creative. do you forget that Luffy was eating a Yonko commander on WCI and beat him with a hilarious tankman for where he swallows him into his belly and shoots him out

Saturn and blackbeard are the two wildcards which will decide how this fight will end. Most likely Luffy will get the gloves from Atlas which interact with light and corner Kizaru. Sanji in a normal fashion is very effective after wano were he was not very useful but that is on brand. Zoro is on equal terms with Lucci which was a surprise. I expected him to toy with Lucci at this point after all he is the first mate of a Yonko.Right now it feels like Sanji might be equally or slightly more powerful than Zoro.

I'm constantly looking forward to what G5 does too everytime Luffy brings it to the table.
Some people in the community have been getting tired of all the eye popping but I personally can't get enough. Kizaru is the first so far who seems to be able to resist it but it just makes you wonder who else in the future will have their eyes pop out. Overall, I still think Luffy's just barely scratched the surface with the fruit. Can't wait for more!
Honestly I would think that Saturn will do nothing and watch all the marines get decimated just to subvert the obvious. it feels like such an Oda move where you think "oh Saturn will control the mark 3" only for him to sit back and watch the chaos with no care whatsoever.

I’ve seen some people express disappointment that “serious Luffy” and him just doing Roger v Whitebeard / pre-Gear 5 Luffy v Kaido haki fighting might be gone the way of the dodo now that G5 is here. I’m not convinced it is gone completely, but even if it was - that’s literally what all other shonen battle manga do anyway, and it sort of minimises the creative nature of the DF powers in favour of just “fighter with biggest magic power quotient wins” - which is a legit recurring trope/issue with a lot of shonen battle manga. Even though One Piece is still doing this to a degree, this Kizaru fight is mainly DF powers interacting in creative ways with very little “muh haki bigger” moments, and that is a bit of a core appeal of the series since the very first Buggy fight imo, and I’m glad Oda is sticking to his guns on that till the very end.

I don't think Elbaf is the next destination, not yet. My bets are on this "Egghead Incident" taking the Straw Hats somewhere else (Sorbet maybe?) and the journey to Elbaf being almost as roundabout as it was from Punk Hazard to Wano.
