Hi there! This is WAAAY off-topic from the joviality of the Talking Heads, but check out Billy Joel's song about Viet Nam. Gives me goosebumps EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I've never had enough courage to play it live. It's pretty heavy. And brilliant. It's called "Goodnight Saigon."
This is a very high-quality link. I still can't get through the song without a tear coming to my eye. th-cam.com/video/0e5AUckHNps/w-d-xo.html

I highly recommend the whole Stop Making Sense film (not necessarily for a reaction, but just to watch it). It is fantastic start to finish, the Talking Heads (and singer David Byrne) were never more at the top of their game, and it was directed by Jonathan Demme, of all people, who directed Silence of the Lambs. And Tina Weymouth is one of the all time great bassists, certainly of the 1980s.

I must reiterate the ONLY way to experience this film is from beginning to end, as the introduction of the instruments are layered one at a time for each subsequent song. David enters a bare stage with just one microphone stand waiting for him and his acoustic guitar. He presents a small BoomBox and presses "Play" on the cassette tape, which lays down the percussive track for "Psycho Killer". Slowly, one by one, the rest of the Band joins him, while stagehands dressed in black methodically assemble the rest of the equipment and instruments. The Drum kit is rolled out on platform, and eventually, the entire ensemble is present to deliver an unforgettable show that now belongs to the ages!
Yes, it is best to view this Film in its proper sequence to appreciate the genius of it in it's entirety!✌🍁✌

He's working that suit, ain't he!?!. This is a masterpiece of a concert film. It starts with a bare stage, and slowly, bit by bit, the equipment is rolled on, and the players slowly but surely, begin to fill the stage. Believe it or not, the suit gets bigger and bigger as the show goes on. They started at CBGB'S as a punk band, but took it in a whole different direction. David Byrne is a genius who is also a great photographer and visual artist. I love Tina Weymouth on bass. She rocks!

My wife and I saw this in a movie theater near University of Pittsburgh around 1984. EVERYONE in the theater on their feet dancing; I had never seen anything like it FOR A CONCERT MOVIE!!! Did the funk meter surprise you? That black guitarist is Alex Weir from the Brothers Johnson (Get the Funk Out Ma Face) and the cat on keys is Bernie Worrell from Parliament Funkadelic. Tina's baseline is absolutely amazing - in fact there are just no weak links in this band. BTW, if you watch the entire movie, you don't get a glimpse of the audience until near the very end - this was deliberate. They wanted the viewers to make up their own mind on the music's impact. When they finally show the crowd dancing and going nuts it is a satisfying pay-off. So glad you enjoyed this!!!!!

"Lee’s energetic direction combined with Byrne’s exuberant staging of Talking Heads classics and other songs makes for a concert film that stands on par with Jonathan Demme’s Talking Heads classic 'Stop Making Sense.'"
