Keep it as is! It's a gorgeous building, incredibly unique and historical. Don't make change for the sake of change.

Ryan Smith can take his dreams of being a pro sports mogul and go elsewhere. Just because he has boundless wealth doesn't mean he should be allowed to do whatever he wants.

I was at the first concert in this magnificent hall and, though I lived outside of Utah for many years since then, the acoustics of this hall are better than any I've heard in my travels or in North Carolina or Texas where I lived. I agree with the musicians that intimated that it cannot be duplicated. Hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain it is a small expenditure compared to the bond which would need to be created to replace it. My vote as a long time concert-goer (in Utah, since 1958) is leave the hall intact and functioning. Also, I think it is much more appropriate as an edifice in proximity to Temple Square than a sports arena (or parking lot) would be. Temple Square will get back to its former glory with gardens and the seismic work on the Temple completed. It was the biggest tourist draw in the city before the seismic work started. Abravanel Hall makes a much more impressive statement to those visitors about what we hold important than any sports arena could ever do. Utah is one of only five states that have (1) a professional orchestra, (2) a professional opera, (3) a professional ballet company, and (4) a Shakespeare Festival. In addition we have (5) the Tabernacle Choir which a London music magazine called one of the 10 finest choirs in the world. These Five all put our "best foot forward" as a state...and I think all five should be on full display to visitors to the state.
