History is something we need to preserve. Most that I see are in favor of keeping Abravanel Hall…they can renovate it very nicely, I am sure!! Looks like so far, the people who comment here are in favor of keeping it. I think the legacy of Maurice Abravanel should be preserved, and so should the hall. People who come here want to see history, they have said that they do. I would like to see a few historical touches on City Creek Center. I think it can be done!! At least post historical markers and photos, with some kind of history around them…I do like the fountains at Christmas time, that is really neat, and even though not human, they got a lot of clapping when I went!!

Agreed! 100%. Abravanel Hall should NOT be touched. (UIpdated, yes) But leave it alone.

Even minor updates could destroy Abravanel Hall. There are few acoustical engineers of the caliber of Dr. Cyril Harris, who could even touch such a project.

I have no problem with Abravanel Hall going away. It’s ignorant to think that you can just throw money at a problem and think it will go away. One of the reasons the building is in disrepair is because the symphony doesn’t bring in enough to keep the building up. It would be smarter to build a smaller new one that is apart of an entertainment complex that can help support it.

@@dtobler4638 If a smaller one were to be built it would further the problems of bringing in more people, every time I go its almost always a full house. It wouldn't be built with the same acoustical level of passion and would fall flat because builders these days just don't care. While I agree throwing money at things does't solve anything, I don't think demolition will be the answer for this building either.

I went here to watch when I was in elementary. And watched a Christmas concert.

Well.... If it doesn't have anything to do with sports it will be lost. Sports seems to be the cocaine of the masses.
