Just discovered Deer Park this past fall. What a cool area! Went there and then we drove to the ocean beaches. From sky to sea in three hours. Not many places in the US that you can do that. Looking forward to your premier (and DavidJenk253’s) this weekend. Thanks for your videos!
@@richpatton4487 Right on! Deer Park is incredible! Only been there once on a day trip but the views were simply stunning, fun road up there too 😉. But yes, the PNW is truly amazing for the vast landscapes offered. Looking forward to both premieres and chatting with everyone, should be a great time!
@@taracagle1858 Both are amazing! Definitely try kayaking or canoeing on Lake Crescent, the water is absolutely beautiful once you get out in the middle of the lake.
I just moved to Olympia and I will love to explore the Olympic Peninsula, I have a 2021 F-150 FX4 with a leveling kit and 34” tires so pretty much stock, can you please recommend me an app or webpage to find these routes? Google maps doesn’t help LOL
Wasn’t gonna comment but just a tip from an old logger, young men. On a suspended log that is bridged (supported on both ends) you make your first cut from the top about half way through then finish cutting from the bottom. As the cut deepens it will open up and you won’t pinch your bar. Good effort though and an enjoyable video! Great area to explore. Used to live near there and enjoyed it a lot. (PS, could’ve used your small axe to shape a wedge to release the bar from the pinch. You’d be surprised how well a wooden wedge or two works! )
I disagree with you. With a log suspended at an angle like that first cut should be bottom half way and finish off with top to avoid pinch. It's basic geometry angle. If you start from the top and try to cut half way it will definitely pinch (gravity pulls middle or cut portion down and both ends of the tree will angle up creating the pinch). That was exactly what happened. When he first cut from the bottom he should have continue cutting half way but he decided to switched to the top and that's when it pinch. I don't think you were an old logger. If so, a very bad one for sure.
@@genxiong2695 🤣. You are so wrong my friend. Don’t know how many logs you’ve cut but if you feel finish your cut from the top the log settles and that’s what pinches. The cut will open from the bottom no matter what your flawed “geometry calculations” tell you. I made a good living in the woods for years, hope you’re not a “ professional mathematician! Thanks for the “polite” response attacking my opinion. You obviously have limited social skills. Get some counseling.
Just cut fro the bottom up until it starts to split and fall, making space. Then decide to continue bottom up or finish for the top. Depends on tour endurance and how many you have to cut Ie all day would be tough lifting the saw but a one time, bottom up on,y is just fine. Just keep your arms and legs as close to the moving blade as possible and press the saw while moving directly with your n Hand
Funny how nature can quickly change the best-laid plans. Maybe that's the beauty of the wild world, we need things in our lives that we can't control to remind us that we're just a small part of a fragile worldwide ecosystem that we have no right to destroy. This video has great drone work taking advantage of beautiful scenery. I'm glad you were able to capture it and share it with people around the world. It's an experience that might not be around for many more generations.
I live in Port Townsend. You need to hit up the roads up around Mount Townsend! Also, you can get from Quilcene to Sequim without using HWY 101... makes for a really great trip.
Narrator: “as neither of us had a wedge.” Chainsaw operator: pulls out and axe and begins chopping. Me: The axe is a wedge. Why are you using your wedge to chop instead of using it to release the bar and chain? Sticks also work great as wedges, but put them in place before you get wedged next time and you’ll save the day.
Yes, that guy made mistake after mistake. Bypassing any common sense. I don’t want to be mean but he is not the guy you want around when things go sideways. I’m surprised he didn’t just ran the tree with his truck.
Playing arm chair quarterback but i would of whittled a few larger branches into wedges or even some of those rocks looked they could of worked and wedge from both sides of the tree! But anyway beautiful video as always man!
Little tip,Next time, bury the chainsaw bar halfway through the trunk, cut uprads until there’s 20% of the trunk left, cut downwards all the way through. Let gravity finish the rest... great content.🤙
I've said this once and i'll say it again. I regret taking my time up in WA for granted. I've been to a number of places but have never been to the places you go to.
Great video. I definitely need to check out that area this year. Hopefully Charles didn’t hurt his chainsaw in that little adventure. Both of you guys have great looking rigs.
Thank you! Everyone and everything came out from the trails unscathed. Was an incredible weekend for sure. Definitely check out that area, The Olympic Peninsula has year-round places to explore!
Multiple things we “could” have done but still was a fun adventure nonetheless. Wasn’t a road we needed to get through anyway. 😉👍🏼 Thank you for the continued support!
One great resource I've used over and over has been TrailsOffroad.com, provides a great start for finding locations. Otherwise, Tahuya ORV Park is certainly a fun place to explore!
Really enjoyed your video. I was trying to figure out where you were at. I’ve looked on the MVUM and Gaia. And can’t seem to find Townsend Creek road. Little help please.
hey man love the vids! where can I find info for the spot you camped overlooking hood canal in this vid? I'm in seattle and just got my wrangler set up for exploring and am looking for a remote spot to camp in the next couple weeks. any info much appreciated, thanks!
Thank you! Check out the Hamma Hamma area, absolutely beautiful and numerous spots to enjoy! Also download Gaia GPS and iOverlander. Both are fantastic resources!
Super stoked to check out your latest video... I'll be starting a complete build on my new 4runner here VERY soon... We should totally do some overlanding... Keep grinding on that outdoor adventure life brother! I'm from Northwest Washington too...
Appreciate it, thank you! 👍🏼 Always great to meet another Washington resident, even better when they have a rig to hit the trails! Looking forward to showcasing this premiere on Friday. Lots to explore out on the Peninsula!
Another epic spot in the PNW! Was really rooting for you guys to prevail against the tree. Thinking if you would have connected to the very top uphill side you would have had the needed leverage to break it. Oh well, at least it wasn't blocking the way out! Good show Michael!
Thank you very much, sincerely appreciate it! Let’s definitely make something happen. 2021 is looking to be big year for us and we have a lot planned! 😉👍🏼
Did you get that chainsaw blade out? If not, we're heading that way tomorrow and would be able to clear it & the road. Just PM me the GPS co-ords if so!
Honestly I just fit, just a slight bend of the legs and putting my feet on the arm rest on the door but otherwise it worked well for me during this time.
Everything I’m seeing that guy do to remove that tree is a mistake lol, there should have been no reason why that chainsaw couldn’t do the job, lessons to be learned id hope lol

That was hard work out there. Axing that trunk is not easy. I have axed smaller ones and it was hard. Too bad you didn’t make it.

Good point about the axe being a wedge, but it may not have been adequate to free the bar. Using it might have given them one more problem!

if you pour white gas on the tree and throw a lit match at it, it will eventually disappear!
Should have just pushed the tree with the bumper on the jeep. Would have opened up the other side and the saw would have dropped out
I never had good luck with those pre-set deflators they are junk, never accurate. Go with the type that removes the valve core and has a gauge.
Ya' know, it would not be a waste of time to learn how to cook. I mean, you're not going to give up camping. So, cooking is a good thing.

Of course the chainsaw would get wedged in the log, you needed to cut a “V” in it, not strait down....26years lumberjack
