Generally speaking good people, really good people, don't say how good they are. Others point at how good they are.
Evil people, on the other hand, will do all they can to convince you they are good.

Ups, this is Brussels sustained thesis - all KGB and Communist party enrolees are the most adequate, sane and suxxessful people. Repressive power is the indicator of sanity. The situation is so insane, that it is reversed ... it is easier to normalise a deviation.

If people in religions didn't believe that they were good people, they would have to conclude that they were evil ... and "that" would never do, as they would then have to conclude that in the hereafter "God" would see to it that their souls would suffer for eternity.
Without the word "soul," there couldn't be any religion. All stories are based on what the soul is thinking, and what the soul is doing, and where the soul came from, and where the soul is going after death of the physical body. Fortunes have been made by theologians who taught that the soul is a gift from God, and that women must never have abortions, because abortions offend God's gift to humanity. Evolution of the soul is a huge seller in religion. It means that your soul is ever upgrading and will hopefully soon make the grade of God's "entire" approval of enlightenment and salvation … or … that in the afterlife something horrible could happen to your soul. If you remove the word "soul" from religion, you will not have anything but ground zero.

If you don't think you are a good person after having millions of people approach you telling you you basically saved their lives you either have a terribly dark secret to confess or your concept of a good person means "he who constantly self-immolates" which is a lot more dangerous than accepting yourself as a good or good enough person.

    • @alphaangelo9837

Even if hé has something to confess thé fact that you are ponting on that and knowing that you also have things to confess means exactly that it doesn't matter to be called good in front of people who doesn't even know who they are but are willing to judge others to confess. Only perfection is good. Perfection not need improvments like humans.

IT's funny... the idea of what people think is a good person... never truly is... and the person think are bad, are probably more good than the good person... I say it's not a good thing... to be seen as a good person... that just means you are a sucker. Human beings are a tapestry of things, and you cannot apply good and bad labels... it's too easy to write off people with such titles. I would rather be a "bad" person, than have the expectations of being thought of being good and disappointing people. Good is not an achievable or even eternally agreed upon ideal... there are people out there right now who think they are good because they are sticking up for people who they think need defending.. but come across extremely toxic and bullying themselves to achieve it... and are possibly riding a trend/bandwagon for clout... that doesn't feel like a good person to me. That's what being anti-SJW is about... I don't hate good people, I hate people who think they are good and cannot see all the toxicness they unleash in the name of supposed good.

@@tnmtnmorning1178 Thinking of yourself as "not good" is unhealthy unless you're recovering from some kind of serious guilt. It is not a sign of character strength to think of yourself as existentially unworthy out of some deep reverence towards the human condition. Its contradicts his attitude against types that think the human race is a cancer. Also the entire essence of Christianity is redemption through forgiveness which his attitude seems to completely lack.
